I am 6 weeks post op and have been miserable at times with constipation. Just started eating prunes but they are high in carbs so have limited the number. Gotta start some supplements with fiber or something other that looking for dynamite!

Three week stall one week after surgery?
DuchessD replied to Ivanova8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This 2 weeks of stalling is so frustrating when I am doing everything within the guidelines. I even survived a 3 day family gathering which had goodies and sweets all over the place. I have identified that beef has been my main choice the last couple weeks, stuffed peppers, meatloaf, andchili. Has anyone else experienced this beef factor in stalling or reducing weight loss? -
Surgery tomorrow - what got you through liquid stage?
DuchessD replied to annelisem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No added sugar is important but be sure to check the sugar that is naturally present. Per my guidelines, it should be less than 10 grams/serving. I did well through out my phases, and hunger has NOT been an issue. I am grateful for that. Like mentioned above, the unjury shakes are great choices, and the premier Protein ones are ready to goand 30 grams of protein. I think the homemade soups were my biggest treats, like carrot, and butternut squash. I had some smoothies with yogurt, kale, nectar Protein shake, and blueberries. Have fun with it, its for life. Everyday I find myself in situations or just my thoughts that smack me upside the head with "I can't eat like that anymore". Good Luck to you! -

My surgery was yesterday! Tylenol help.
DuchessD replied to mamamia86's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This is off the Tylenol topic but I had my gastric bypass on 12/11. I read your story and you are amazing for hanging in there so long. I am so surprised at all the stories of the 1 or 2 day stays and a little tylenol here and there. I had complications so was in ICU for 5 days for closer monitoring but went home after 8days. Now just trying to get all the water weight I came home with. I gained about 20# in the hospital. Very discouraging! All is a process and just akes time. I keep trying to remind myself that. Hope you are doing well now. -

Many have said Unjury is their fave. Have to order it. Pure protein from Publix in premix bottles is good and convenient to have. Good luck -

Good Luck Granny. You're starting the week off with one of the biggest decisions of your life. My week too (12/11), and I'm getting really nervous. -
surgery Dec. 12Th anyone need a Pal?
DuchessD replied to laurarogersclark's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, how are you? I am on my shakes only and have surgery scheduled for Thursday 12/11 0830, luckily only had to do the shakes for 1 week. I'm doing well but I think I need more shakes. Only had 490 calories yesterday and have a bit of a headache. Getting nervous with butterflies when I think of the big day. So the 2 of you are 12/8 and 12/10 and me 12/11. Does anyone want to do to texting since getting on the computer will not be as easy?? -
Just found out that bcbs wants the records of the first surgeon from my 2007 lap band. Looking for compliance. If I had great success I wouldn't be looking at a bypass.

Well we could put some pineapple and some rum in the vanilla ones, but I guess that wouldn't shrink our liver -

DuchessD replied to ga_kathy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well Happy Thanksgiving! I guess we still get to partake in Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. I plan to start my Protein "shakes only" on Monday 12/1. I have a co-worker Holiday dinner next Thursday. I plan to go but haven't fully decided how to handle it. Technically the dr told me a week of shakes, and I made the choice for the 10 days. -

I got my biopsy results on Friday and there was no Pylori. He was a little concerned about some gastritis that was in my lower stomach. But all is OK. Hope you'll be ok too BrandyJune. Great news Kathy from Atlanta -

Counting the days, checking all my lists of what I have to start when. This is so huge, and there is No turning back. I try not to think about that kind of stuff. I know it will be life changing in a positive way. -
Revision: 2 surgeries in one?
DuchessD replied to meyouus's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
The dr did mention that there was a time that could be challenging for eating because there is no restriction. -

Re- being in the hospital. It's hard to sleep because of lights, noises, waking u up every few hours to take your BP etc But you'll be tired and in pain meds so you'll probably sleep. Headphones and ear plugs are fine to take. It's funny that sometimes it's the little things that worry us!! Like I'm worried about how I'm gonna wipe my back side ! -

Want to change surgeon
DuchessD replied to ga_kathy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It certainly is a timely process. I'm assuming you have done all the other preliminary stuff like the diet monitoring and other tests. I was able to get my surgical consult (Initial visit) within 2 weeks of my phone call. I saw the Dr last week and wrapped up all the final pieces. I was given a surgery date for 12/11, The office staff work very well to help get it all coordinated because I live more than 3 hours away. The Dr is on the east coast of florida, south of Melbourne and Vero Beach. Maybe if you can get your initial visit scheduled while you finish up your psych and give him copies of all your other reports, they can proceed quickly to submit to your insurance. Good Luck to you. I wasted 2 months because of glitches in watching their required Webinar. -
Protein before surgery?
DuchessD replied to ambieambs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just starting to use shakes. I heard the Unjury is the best, from some of my post Bariatric surgery friends. I just tried one by Physiologics PhysioWhey. Took a lot of doctoring, more vanilla, more sweetener. Had a metallic taste. Has anyone else tried this one?? -
Revision: 2 surgeries in one?
DuchessD replied to meyouus's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
When I had my consult, the Dr said he had done some together but the risks for complications are higher. The area where the band was becomes fibrous and more difficult to suture. After having a few leaks, he has stopped doing them in one procedure. -
Hi Jessica, I am new to BP but was checking out the insurance comments. It looks like we may be on similar paths. I go for my EGD on 11/11, and my Pre Op appt with dr on 11/12. After that, if all is in order, it will get submitted to my BCBS Federal. I am hoping the wait will not be too long. I want this to be over and move on. Donna
