    Regret?

I am one month post op today! I did say in the hospital "what have I done" but that was because my surgeon thought I was septic. Gladly I was not and just had an infection from the Foley catheter. I was in the hospital for 4 days. However, I have not one single regret! I could never achieve my goal without the help. I'm a happy girl! Best wishes to you. ????

    Only 300 calories

Weight loss is about the same for me. I had six days of no loss and was so discouraged. I am one month post op today and have lost 31 pounds! I'll take it! If I include my pre op time I'm down 41 pounds. ????

    Only 300 calories

Hi! I am one month post op tomorrow and I barely get 300 calories. Some days I'm lucky to get half that. But I'm never hungry and my grouch pouch is super sensitive when I do eat. I had a bad episode tonight so I'm thinking I may go back to the liquid phase for a few days. I am wondering how many calories other are getting too. ????

    Post-Op Fatigue

Wondering how your surgery went! Still thinking about that game? Hope you are doing well!

    Just had surgery 12/10.

Gas X is a life saver! I use the strips and pills alternately between both.
  7. I hit a stall during week two. I freaked out! I am three weeks post-op and the weight is coming off again. I was lucky to not gain during my hospital stay. So far 27 pounds are gone!

    Do you count vitamin calories?

I am three weeks out and I am lucky if I consume 300 calories per day. I feel satisfied with 200-300 calories. I don't count my vitamins either. It's amazing how different I feel about food now. It's like night and day! I had a stall during week two and didn't lose anything for 6 days. So far I have lost 27 pounds.
  9. Depending on what my leftovers are I split them up into one portion containers and eat them over several days. I'm only eating mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, chili, and yogurt. I'm in the puréed stage. I also made tuna and chicken salad blended in a food processor. Neither of them sat well in my grouch pouch so I gave it to my dogs. They loved it!

    Post-Op Fatigue

I had surgery 11/20 which was a Thursday. My surgeon gave me the okay to return to school that Monday after surgery. I didn't make it though. I had a complication/infection from the Foley catheter and I didn't get out of the hospital until Sunday. Going back the next day would have been impossible and I ended up taking the whole week off. I would say see how you feel and just remember to have someone drive you. Good luck to you!
  11. My name is Sandy and I am 16 days post op. I started puréed foods two days ago. Tonight I had 4 oz of tuna salad. I'm not sure what happened, maybe I ate to quickly but I have vomited twice. I can't keep fluids down. Wondering if I have a blockage from the tuna salad. I still have chest pain and a full feeling and it's been two hours now. Will this feeling eventually go away? ????

    Help!

Thank you filmgal! I did puree the tuna salad but I think it was too dry. I also ate while watching TV and I may not have been paying attention. I had a few sips of Powerade zero and I vomited that too. But after relaxing and doing some deep breathing the sensation in my chest is gone. I am glad though that everything is working properly. I was nervous that something may not be hooked up correctly because this is the first time I have felt sick. Thank you so very much for your advice! I am loving this support group.

    Why did I do this?

I said the same thing in the hospital. My surgery was 11/20 and was supposed to go home the day after. I ended up with an infection from the Foley catheter. The surgery pain was nothing I was prepared for either. I asked my nurse what in the world would possess me to do this to my body. She gave me a hug and said I made the right decision. I would have to agree even though today I am having a difficult time after having tuna salad and vomiting because it didn't settle well. Trust me when I say we are doing something amazing! This too shall pass. Keep your head up and keep smiling. In the end it will be worth it. Hugs to you!
  14. Holy Batman balls!!! So thankful you are joking! You definitely had me saying WTF. Happy journey to you!
  15. Hi GratefulLove, I obsessed and still do even 8 days post-op. From my first appointment to surgery day was 9 months of waiting. I felt like it would take forever to get here but honestly I am glad I had the time to really let it sink in. To be totally honest the day of surgery (11/20) I still wished I had more time. Surgery was hard... I was supposed to come home the day after on Friday and had a complication so I didn't come home until Sunday. My surgeon told me I was not consuming enough liquid so I could not go home. I think it may have a blessing in disguise because Friday night around 11 p.m. I spiked a fever 101.6), low blood pressure (74/37) and a high pulse rate (120). After blood work, cultures, and chest X-rays I had a bladder infection. Probably from the Foley catheter. I didn't anticipate the pain I would be feeling after surgery. I also had my gallbladder removed. However even after everything I would definitely do it again. I have lost 15 pounds in 8 days! I am surviving on approximately 185-200 calories per day. Depends on how many Popsicles I eat! Enjoy your time before surgery and get as much information as you can. You can never be too prepared. I wish you luck on your journey! You will do great!
  16. I was put on Cipro 3 days post-op. I take them whole. The day after surgery I was taking two pills once daily and those were whole. I just space mine out so I'm not taking them all together. Especially since I take 6 vitamins a day too. I am only 7 days post-op.
  17. Hi!!! My surgery was Nov 20th! I too came home Sunday. So far so good. Everyday is getting a little easier as far as pain goes. I was able to sleep on my side briefly last night. Notice I said briefly. The pain started to get to me and I ended up on my back. My first morning home I felt like a turtle stuck on her back. I couldn't get upright for the life of me! Yesterday was my first pain medication free day. So happy about that. I have lost 13 pounds already!! Hard to believe. I guess even if it's water weight I'll take it. best wishes to you!

70 pounds gone is awesome!!! So happy for you! Hugs
  19. Congrats!!! I had surgery Thursday 11/20 with an anticipated release date of 11/21. It didn't happen. I was finally able to come home Sunday. I spiked a fever within 24 hours of surgery. I had a bladder infection most likely from the catheter. Take things slow. My plans of no pain medication and up walking around didn't happen for me. Everyone is different but don't be discouraged if your plans change. Take care!!! You are on your way to a new beginning!
  20. Reality has hit! I am scheduled for surgery in two days!!!!! I am so excited, nervous, and my anxiety is a little high. I've heard myself saying this is my last this and my last that. I'm okay with my lasts! I know that I never want to feel so out of control again and I cannot wait until I am free of this extra weight. I did enjoy some weeks out with family/friends and I'll tell you I think I have eaten enough Mexican food to last a lifetime! Enjoy this time before your surgery date! Time really goes by quick. Best of luck to you!

    Pre-Op Diet

Hi Ldimples. I hope you are doing well today! I sort of fell of the wagon over the weekend and went a little crazy with guacamole and chips Saturday night. We've been going out every weekend for dinner with friends. This weekend I thought I would have more control having them over and me cooking dinner. Those snack foods get me every time. Luckily I didn't gain any weight! Back at it full force today. We can do it!!! I just looked at the weather channel and it shows up until the 19th. Tomorrow will show my surgery day!!! So excited!
  22. Today is the first day of my pre-op diet! I cannot believe time is going so quickly. I am on this diet until my surgery date November 20th! I am doing 4 Protein shakes and one small meal which equals about 1000 calories. The headache is horrible today! I am not sure if I can do another 13 days of this. Then I think what will I feel like after surgery when I'm only drinking Protein Shakes. IF the headaches go away I think I will be fine. Hoping tomorrow I feel better and not so tired and sluggish. Am I the only one feeling this way? I hope not.

    November Surgery Date!

My surgery day is November 20th! I will be starting my pre-op diet November 6th. I'm starting to feel a little bit nervous and a whole lot of excitement!
  25. Hello all! My name is Sandy and I finally have my surgery date, November 20th. I am excited! Since I received word of my surgery date I have become overly emotional about everything. I am not sure if it is fear of the unknown, relief that I am finally moving forward, or scared of how I will react to losing weight. I am wondering if anyone else is feeling this way, scared of what it will feel like to not be heavy. My weight has been almost like a security blanket. Sounds a little crazy, right? However, I am ready for November 20th to get here!!!
