After a nearly year long process I finally got my surgery date of November 3rd. After taking several months to complete all the pre-op appts. I was ready to go when my insurance changed. My new insurance required me to do the 6 months of appts with my PCP. When I finally completed that it took a month to get insurance approval, but it was worth the wait. I am now in a good place and will be ready to go on November 3rd. Anyone else in November or have a surgery date close to mine? I would really like to be a support system to others as well as receive support. Hope to hear from you!

Ldimples... I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Stay strong. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have several friends who beat breast cancer and are stronger today than ever. I know that will be you too! -

Night time was always the time that I ate the most. I am still feeling the desire to eat at night, but I wouldn't necessarily say it was a physical hunger. I always have had a difficult time differentiating between the two. -
No Flavor Protein Powder
Time4ChangeNY replied to MommyRedmond's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can find genpro on amazon.com. You only need a small amount and it tasteless. Not all unflavored Protein powders are. -
My doctor put me on actigall post-surgery because I had a gallstone and sludge in my gall bladder. I was told to open the capsule and pour it into a little applesauce and take it that way. To tell the truth I am really concerned that the medication is not going to work for me, and I will have to end up having my gall bladder taken out. I really do not want to go through another surgery.

carriekos... I can totally relate. The scale hasn't moved for me in 2 weeks. It is so frustrating and very discouraging. I can't believe I am eating so little and haven't lost weight. I am holding out hope for this week. -

Sometimes I have to stop myself from eating and sometimes my pouch let's me know it is time to stop. On a few occasions I ate such a small amount and had a lot of discomfort afterwards and other times it seems like I can't eat a larger amount and have no problems. It sounds like some other people are experiencing this too. I will be 4 weeks out on Monday and I have been having terrible constipation for the last 2 weeks. I have been taking miralax, but it hasn't helped. I guess my body is still adjusting to all the changes going on. Is anyone else having this problem? I did not have it in the beginning, but I sure do now! -

I went for my post-op visit today and everything looks good. My doctor said I can start pureed foods on Monday. I am not sure what to eat or how to get creative during this stage. Any suggestions or recipes would be more then welcome! Thanks! -

So glad to be home from my surgery. I am feeling a little better every day, and the liquids are going down easier with each day. I am so glad this part of my journey is over, and now I can move on to the good part. I am glad to hear that everyone else who has had their surgery is doing well. -

I am on day 2 of 2 weeks of liquid only diet. Day 1 wasn't so bad, but today has been horrible. I have an awful headache and the shakes. I am feeling very emotional too. I am hoping this gets better soon. How soon did everyone else start to feel better? -
Reasons surgeon says sleeve or bypass
Time4ChangeNY replied to della street's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is November 10th. I chose gastric bypass because I have type 2 diabetes and after researching it and talking to my doctor, I found out that there is a much better success rate at reversing type 2 diabetes with the gastric bypass vs. the sleeve. The majority of the people in my support group are post-op sleevers and have done very well with with it. I suggest consulting with your surgeon and doing some research online about the sleeve vs. bypass. There is plenty of information out there. Good luck and let us know what you decide! -

Dabliss... love the photo of your little pup! I have two that look a little similar! My surgery is Nov 10th so we are on the same schedule. I am starting an all liquid 2 week diet on Oct 27th. I have also been indulging, and having a case of the lasts. It is kind of a double sided thing for me. I feel like if I indulge too much before surgery I may regret it, but I also feel like if I don't indulge before surgery I might regret not having those things that I enjoy for the last time. So I know exactly how you feel. Since our surgeries are so close I would love to chat further, and hopefully be a support system to each other. Feel free to contact me at fourdodges@aol.com. -

I am starting my 2 week liquid diet on 11/27. The thought of having so many sweet Protein drinks does not appeal to me. What else can I have that is not sweet? What about Soups? -
November Surgery Date
Time4ChangeNY replied to Time4ChangeNY's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am now November 10th too. I was originally November 3rd, but they just changed my surgery date because my surgeon will be away at a conference. Do you have to do a liquid diet pre-op? I have to do a 2 week liquid diet. I start October 27th. -

I just found out today that they are changing my surgery date from 11/3 to 11/10 because my surgeon will be at a conference. I was all ready to go for 11/3, but I guess another week is no big deal. -

Did you all completely clean out your pantry and refridge and get rid of a lot of food before you started your liquid diet? There is so much stuff that I want to get rid of, but I need to keep food in my house for my family! -

Insurance Approval... How long?

I am waiting for insurance approval for my surgery. I was wondering how long it took other people out there to get approved. I have been waiting a month already. -
Pre-op 6 month diet plan
Time4ChangeNY replied to jasminebsn3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completed all my pre-op requirements and was ready to submit for insurance approval when my insurance changed, It changed to Health Republic, and when I was all ready to go and just waiting for approval I found out that they required 6 months of visits with my PCP. This was very discouraging to me since I was all ready to go. The patient coordinator at my surgeon's office told me that it was not necessary to lose weight during the six months, but that the insurance company just wanted to see that I could make a commitment by visiting my surgeon once a month for 6 months. I finally finished the PCP visits at the end of August and waited a month for insurance approval. I now have a surgery date of November 3rd. It was just short of a year from the time I started the whole process to the time I got my surgery date, but the wait was worth it. I am definitely ready for November 3rd to come and to start a new happy and healthier life.
