I'm really scared I'm going to stretch out my band or pouch. How likely is this? Also what causes it?

I had my surgery 12/19/07 and have lost almost 40 lbs. I had my first fill in Feb. they only filled it with 1/2 cc and I did not lose any weight. i just had my second fill yesterday and was filled with 4 cc's. I have good restriction now. My thing is, I have not been following the diet. I have not been doing my protein shakes and have pretty much been eating whatever I want. I don't know why. I know in my mind I shouldnt be doing this. My first fill I was able to still eat pretty much like normal. But now I am not. I have thrown up twice now since yesterday from overeating. Does anyone have any suggestions for me. How do I stop this behavior? I am almost regretting having the surgery. Has anyone else gone through this?

I have eaten sushi fine up until now. I was banded in Dec. I even had it after my first fill, I ate 3 pieces and was fine. I only had a 1/2 cc fill though. I just had my second fill yesterday and am interested to see if I will be able to still eat it.

I am on my 4th day post op and am still experiencing some pain and discomfort. Mainly on my left side of my stomach, right around my belly button, it feels like it is something pulling...it also feels a little numb when i touch it. Getting up and down is still a bit of a problem. Still hurts and feels like I'm gonna tear my stitches out. Did anyone else experience this? How long before it goes away?

The surgery itself was not that painful. I slept the first day I got home. The next day I was up and at Walmart...LOL. I have went somewhere everyday since. I was sent home with an on-Q pain pump filled with marcaine that kept my incisions numb, and just took that out Saturday. I would say the highest my pain got was a 4. I've just had mainly discomfort from the pulling feeling. I've lost 20 pounds already, and that is counting my four days of liquids before the surgery I think it is a great decision, especially since I've probably lost and gained over 200 pounds in five years. I think I started the whole process in August, but I have different insurance than you. I hope it goes fast for you;) Keep me updated on how yours goes. I have not felt hungry at all either, that is a big change for me!!!

I have been approved by my insurance company. My surgery is scheduled on 12-12. I am getting extremely nervous to the point of wanting to call it off. I dont want to really, but I'm scared. Scared of being on an operating table, scared of not losing weight after and scared of being in pain. Did anyone else feel this way and what did you do to get rid of the feeling. Also, anyone have any suggestions on good high protein shakes? How many protein shakes do you drink a day? I know I am required to get 80-90g of protein per day, is it mostly in the form of shakes?

I am waiting on approval from the insurance company and I am very nervous about th pre-op and post op diet. I feel like I won't be able to follow it completely. The pre-op won't be that bad, considering it is only about a month, but post-op is my main concern. There are some things I just don't want to give up. Do you have to completely modify your diet or are you able to eat some of your favorite foods on occasions? I catch myself thinking at times, I really want this and I can do it, I will make it work, and on other occasions, I dont think I will ever be able to follow the diet. Did anyone have these feelings? And do you allow yourself to enjoy some of your favorite foods on occasions? The foods I am gonna miss are sushi, beer and coffee....and I don't use them all on regular occasions right now besides coffee...LOL. Please tell me if how I am feeling is normal or if I am crazy for feeling like I will miss food, I'm very confused right now:confused:

They told me no caffeine, and no carbonated beverages. I dont drink beer alot, but I do enjoy it on girls nights occassionally. I was wondering about sushi because of the rice. Thanks for responding:) -

Thank you for responding, I am glad I'm not the only that feels like I will miss food...LOL. I do the same thing, always thinking about my next meal, even when I'm eating my meal for right then!!! Good luck on your surgery, you will have to let me know how it goes, keep me updated so I can know what to expect:) -
I have encountered a few of those reactions you are experiencing. Alot of people keep making remarks about me being so young and I should be able to lose it with diet and exercise. Also alot of the people making remarks have never been overweight. They don't understand. I explain in the way that obesity runs in my family as well as medical problems associated with obesity and I am doing this as a preventative measure. I am 26 and already considered morbidly obese, along with the onset of several medical problems. Just dont talk to it about them anymore and when they ask you about it say its not open for discussion. I hope it all goes better!!!
