Getting pregnant after 100 pound loss with PCOS
DDBug replied to jtickle's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Within two months after the surgery I was on a perfect 28 day cycle that I could almost time to the minute and without any pills controlling it. I loved that!! I was not sexually active for a long time and a month after my activity begin again I was pregnant. Unplanned but meant to be! Healthy pregnancy and extremely healthy baby. -

I was diagnosed with PCOS at 16 years old. At 24 I was told I would only have a slight shot of having children and only with IVF (which I could never afford) at 31 I went to a seminar for weight loss surgery after hearing there was a chance it could "help" my PCOS. Well at the seminar the surgeon said gastric bypass (not band or sleeve) had a 99% CURE rate. Yes cure. I'm sitting here a year and a half after my surgery holding my two month old beautiful healthy son. After a healthy and happy natural pregnancy and birth. Good luck.

What did your Dr. say? I just had my first child 10 weeks ago. I was only 10 months out of surgery when I got pregnant. Healthy pregnancy but I gained 40 lbs. I had lost all of my excess weight 6 months after surgery and stopped losing three months prior to getting pregnant. I am having a hard time losing the 30 lbs that didn't fall right off after birth. I'm way off tract on my nutrition too so I know I need to whip myself back in the right lane.

Thank you! I'm counting down the days until my appointment to get tested. I just hope I get an answer. Not being able to care for my son without exceptional pain is awful.

Thank you all for responding. More info as I left it out by mistake; about a month after I balanced out on my weight loss of 96lbs (7 months after surgery) the symptoms first began with joint swelling and pain. I was being looked at for Autoimmune issues then. That was the first time RA was suggested by Dr.'s. Lymes was ruled out then. As I was supposed to be tested for RA and or other disorders, I found out I was pregnant. I stopped that avenue of testing and put all focus on the baby. Through my pregnancy all symptoms went away and I felt great. For two months before the pregnancy I had my right knee joint drained twice and my hands and fingers were so swollen and painful that I could barely use them. During the pregnancy it was as if I never had an issue. Two weeks after he was born when my hormones were rushing back in place (and all over, lol) the symptoms returned and ten times worse. Could it be hormone driven? These disorders do not run in my family. Could I have had it my whole life but never knew it because it was dormant until the drastic weigh loss? It just seems so coincidental after the surgery, then gallbladder, then it "started", stopped and turned up again after I gave birth.

I had full gastric bypass may 27th 2014. Lost 96lbs in 6 months. Had emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder 5 months after surgery. 10 months after surgery I got pregnant. Two weeks after I delivered my healthy and perfect baby boy, I have serious auto immune disorder symptoms. Waiting for my feb 1st appointment with a rheumatologist to find out my diagnosis. It's been suggested that it's RA. I'm only 33 with a newborn. Anyone else know if and why bypass could cause this??
-
yes the medicine will help to prevent gallstones but my gallbladder stopped functioning. A normal gallbladder functions at 35% mine dropped to roughly 5% function (meaning it wouldn't pump the bile out) 5 months after my surgery. Had emergency surgery to remove it. All I suggest is stay connected to your surgeon and report any abnormal pain.

Thanks!! I feel so much better!

Have you seen a good change since you started the biotin?
-
Thank you for your responses! I was really scared. As long as I know it will grow back, I can try to make it through. Going to look into options like biotin

4 months post-op Gastric Bypass. 67lbs lost. Half my hair has fallen out!! Every morning handfuls come out in the shower. I'm getting my proteins in. Will it stop?? Will it grow back??? It's so thin on top I'm scared I'm going bald.

"I was told about 4 years ago mine GB should be removed . I looked online and found a Gall Bladder cleanse. It was very unpleasant ( tastes bad and lots of poop the next day) but it worked. I have recommended to several friends since them and most have avoided surgery." What was the cleanse?
