    Lap-Band Doctors in Sonora Mexico

She was there when her friend passed away after doctor Aceves operated on her, so she knows how things happened better than you. I haven't trashed any doctor, lied, or said half thruths. I have no reason to. Yet somehow this issue has hit on a very sensitive chord with you. I'm sorry, had I known this would happen, I would have never posted the information I found when looking for my options. I would never have expected this reaction from you. You are so pasionate about research and are always instructing us future band patients to be extremely thorough when looking into possible surgeons. That's all I did, and now you are almost crucifying me. I didn't lie or trash anyone, I'm sorry. You have even said you have special contacts that give you information on many doctors in Mexico. Why was I so wrong in posting information I found? I didn't add or take away from it. Just pointed towards it for other people researching, just like you do, but somehow when someone other than you does it, it's wrong, lies and trash. So go ahead and reply in your usual manner, you'll have the last word because after this experience I won't give you the pleasure of replying to you again. I have better things to do. I wish all other persons reading and posting the best of luck and as redundant as it may seem: do your research, just be careful who you contradict because there seems to be a double standard here.

Did you actually read the person's post on Obesity Help Forum? Because somehow it seems like you didn't read it. The person posting does not sound at all like she has any agenda at all other than telling about her friend's tragedy. I feel for her loss and I am aware that all surgery has risk, but you are saying things that are completely different from a person close to the family. Jami was there. She says nothing about any botched bypass, but instead tells that her friend had been approved for bypass by her insurance company in the U.S. but was convinced by her daughter to go to doctor Aceves for a lap band instead. She says nothing about multiple heart attacks only of her friend going back into surgery with doctor Aceves who found a ruptured intestine after he had put in the lap band and everything went from bad to worse after. They had to call in an Internist, I thought the hospital was a full service hospital and had such a specialist. The person who posted does seem to know what happened, she was there. Unless you were there like Jami, I don't see why you are changing facts. No one is trying to blame anyone, so I don't see why your version is completely different than the actual close family friend that was there when Patricia died. I just feel it's a very sad tragedy. Who's to say what would have happened if she had gotten the surgery she was approved for in the States instead of surgery in Mexico. I really don't want to discuss Patricia's tragedy any more. All I want to say is that I feel that standards are different in the U.S. and that if at first I was considering Mexico, after reading the post on OH I am seriously reconsidering weight loss surgery. If I decide to get surgery, I will definitely be doing more research on U.S. doctors.

Laurieu I hope everything went ok. Thank you for strongly advocating research Wasa. I was also considering Dr. Aceves because I had heard some good things but now I'm holding off and reconsidering. Please read this very sad note: http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/thintowin/uzone,blog/action,comments/blog_id,67644/blog_post_id,58285/ Sometimes a doctor's experience and good judgement has to come into question. I'll rethink my options for weight loss surgery.
  5. Jennypoo and all, I was also looking into Dr. Aceves and doing research. I ran the checklist wasa posted and researching I ran into this: ObesityHelp - Gastric Bypass, LAP-BAND® System, DS and Other Surgical and Non-Surgical Weight Loss Options. - Profiles - thintowin's Profile I just thought it would be useful information. I'm having second thoughts and confused at this point.

    Deathly afraid of death!

It is scary, especially if you haven't had surgery before. I've had serious anxiety and this is hard for me. The images of the before and after pix everywhere helps a lot. I can see myself there.
  7. Thanks for all the great information. I agree, no advertising would be nice.

    Dr. Gonzalez Support Thread

I hope I can get support from you guys being Dr. G's patients maybe you can gimme tips. I'm narrowing down to surgery mid December! Anyone else going mid December? I think this is a great idea, NewBlew thanks! I've got nothing but great references from all of doctor G's patients. I called several of his patients on a list I got from doctor Valenzuela and everyone was very helpful. I appreciate the humanity that this group of docs transmits and everyone seems to have the same experience. I know I'm moving in the right direction. If I can count on you guys after my surgery for advice and support, I'll have it made. Thanks again!
  11. I'm making an appointment for my surgery date with doctor Gonzalez, I will have a definite date next week. I want to thank you all for the useful information that helped me decide to go with Gonzalez and his team. Reading this forum but more so this thread has helped me volumes. I want any of you Gonzalez patients to help me decide. If I drive it will be a 5 hr drive, if I fly It'll be about an hour flight. I can spend an extra day in SD with a relative if necessary and was wondering if you felt like you could drive around two days after surgery? Any suggestions? :help:
  12. I've been reading this thread for some time and I'm encouraged by your experiences! Dr. G may be the surgeon for me. I'll be deciding as soon as I can narrow down a date off work and finance. Thank you for your useful info!
