Why do I need so much protein?
JakeLancaster replied to MrsOptimistic's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
The high Protein pre op diet gets your body burning fat to shrink your liver. If you are on liquids shakes are the way to get your protein. This is also what you will need to be doing post op, high protein liquid diet. -
Sugar addict and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) surgery?
JakeLancaster replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ask your surgeon what the numbers are, how many rny patients get dumping, my understanding is that not everyone gets dumping and even less get it with the sleeve. I think that you will need to work through the sugar addiction surgery without relying on the surgery alone no matter what you choose. -

Amazed at some day one or two post op recovery stories
JakeLancaster replied to gregthegroove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Greg I think it will be more like on your club, which after having more than half of your stomach removed seems pretty normal. I wish I were the 3 miles a day, 90 grams a Protein ,2 days after surgery kind a guy but already know I am not. -
Really nervous about tomorrow
JakeLancaster replied to aloudwhisper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
aloudwhisper Are you revising to a sleeve? or just removing it? Good luck either way seems like you will be happy to get rid of your band. Embrace not what I want to hear weeks before my revision from band to sleeve but I will be prepared. -
How necessary is this pre-op diet?
JakeLancaster replied to Luana526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand the need to shrink the liver and I know most surgeons require a pre op diet of some sort but I think that a liquids diet is brutal. I was lucky enough to not have been asked to do one but I would have questioned it if I had. Can you shrink your liver without a liquid diet? Many surgeons seem to think so. Just something you might want to ask your surgeon. Do not decide on other's experience , ask him directly and see if there is any flexibility. -
Feeling defeated...
JakeLancaster replied to MiniMiss's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What do you mean half way to your goal, are you on a pre op diet? My insurance did not cover any surgery, it has all been self pay for me, so I hear you. -

switch from lab band to gastric
JakeLancaster replied to ladytru84's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am having my band removed and I am switching to a sleeve. I have had problems with my band but mostly just not having the results I need. Other than my band not being eroded my surgeon says I can have the revision done in one step and the surgery I choose really. The band failed a lot of us, I can honestly say I did my best to work with it and it should have helped more. I do not minimize my part in the process on the contrary this is why I feel it failed me. I gave it my all and it worked for a while but them it stopped, the reflux, too tight, too lose, not being able to eat healthy food, etc Most people with a band know the drill. It took a while to decide on the revision because i do not want another disappointment but I talked to so many successful band to sleeve revisions that I am ready and feeling positive about my outcome once more. -
Calling Dr. Wilhelmy Patients!
JakeLancaster replied to OCSlim's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I am scheduled for a revision from band to sleeve with Dr. Wilhelmy in a few weeks, I am happy to read all the positive feedback. I will share my experience when I get back. -
I have never swallowed gum by accident but I would be so embarrassed of having to go the hospital because I swallowed it by accident and having it stuck to my sleeve that just that will keep me away from it for a while.

Issue with very irregular bowel movements
JakeLancaster replied to mbrinmn's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Does anyone know why WLS patients have this problem? I had the same issues when I had my band and am wondering why this is. Is it due to the small amounts of food we eat? or is there a medical/physical reason for this? -
Band to Sleevers how many pounds did yu drop in the first 2 months ?
JakeLancaster replied to nowornever14's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great topic, I am scheduled for my band to sleeve revision. I think the starting BMI has a lot to do with it too. I would be scared of the 44 size bougie, I really want this to be the last surgery. I get the acid problem with the band though and understand why you choose the large bougie I just do not want to risk it. I am prepared to lose slower than I did with my band, I was told revisions lose slower but your averages sound great. See you on the other side in a couple of weeks! -
had my gastric sleeve on September 10
JakeLancaster replied to yerrika's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You had a gastric bypass, I would call your drs office to see if the pain are experiencing is normal. I was told the first 2 weeks are when you need to watch out for a leak so I would call since you are only 4 days out. It might be perfectly normal but better safe than sorry. -
Gastric Sleeve Revisions
JakeLancaster replied to Emu's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I am also interested in someone answering your question. I am scheduled for a revision from band to sleeve in a few weeks and plan on this being the last surgery I need. I know and have been told that I can regain weight if I do not work with my sleeve, I know this but I am hoping the sleeve will be just the tool to help me keep on track. While searching for my revision surgeon I ran into several people that had the sleeve redone so I know it can be done.
