I have been living in ga but am looking forward to being back in bama soon so i can start coming back. I too have thought about doing bypass im stuck cant lose anymore. The band took me far but i wish i had bypass i think it would have taken me furthee

What happened to this thread it is dead!! Did everybody get to goal and decide they no longder needed support??? Anyhow im dont talkng about getting ps so ive decided to start with my arms.....any recommendations? I WANT THE BEST SURGEON!!!

So its very easy to drift back into old habits. My band is only 1/2 way full due to extensive reflux problems if I fill it anymore. I have gained about 12lbs back in 4months and I am FLIPPING out. I have NO RESTRICTION! It sux! Just wondering if anyone else was having any probs. I hope everyone has enjoyed their holidays! I NEED to get my butt to support group...when is the next meeting??!!!

I took omeprazole for awhile and for the most part it helped but I am soooo bad about taking pills. I mean if I ever become a hypertensive or diabetic patient and really do need routine meds I think I would die. LOL but now I just take tums or something when it acts up. Since Im not that full I don't get reflux that often.

I need to drag my butt to the gym. I bought an elliptical 3months ago and love it. Had some set back over the summer but already headed back down in wt thank goodness. I may start doing some jogging at oxfrd lake this spring i know ive been off this sitd for many months now.....gotta set back up my good habits for sure!!

Yeah the ps on the fort seems pretty good!! That is prob who I will use for my brachioplasry..he wants me to get rid of the rest of my weight first...ud think after three years id be at foal lol. I see jason from time to time. I dont think he really gets on here anymore. I need to come to the next group. Do u guys go??

Where are you located? I live in Jacksonville and used a local dr there....I think having a doc with less patients compared to a big clinic has been beneficial. I can get in to see my doc just about at any time!

Yeah its amazing how differently I feel with the weight gain....all YUCKY! But Im on my way back down now

I have lost 110lbs however last summer I had to have my band unfilled and had my gallbladder taken out...d/t reflux BUT i still have reflux so my band can only be minimally filled :-( But I am happy to say I am back on my way and within the last month I have lost 15lbs of what I gained over the summer! AND I agree it is way too quiet on these boards we need to keep posting and keep supporting!!!!! My goal is a size 9/10 like I was in highschool and IM ALMOST There. I plan to have brachioplasty this year or next and after I have kids I will do a total mommy makeover with tummy tuck, thigh lift, and boob job!!!

So I am a medical professional and I receive lots of research articles. Today one caught my eye. A recent study was done that indicated that the Bypass is actually just as safe as the band and more effective. Only 36% of patients with the band lose 40% of their fat compared to 60% of those with bypass...The bypass 15%have complications compared to 12% with the band....Kinda makes me wish I knew this before I had my surgery...sadly enough I would have chosen bypass!

Im living in Rome right now. I start a new job in a couple of weeks so Im waiting on my house in Jacksonville to sell so I can get my own place near marietta or somewhere. Im going to try my best to make it...

You'll get thru this plateau....I have had many many as a matter of fact I cant lose the weight I lost when he unfilled me when I was having gallbladder problems...BUT I am looking into purchasing an elliptical this week so I hope to get back on track and you will too keep up the GREAT work. bandofhope I have about 7cc in a 10cc band. How has everyone been doing? So I had to have my gallbladder taken out...well they took it out....Im still having heart burn. hope everyone is getting ready to enjoy the holidays and doing well!!!

Now that I have had more fluid taken out of my band...I dont have any...grrr but Im hungry more often :-(

SOO I was having HORRIBLE heart burn like everyday for FOREVER and my doc ran some tests and felt like I needed to have my gallbladder taken out. (this was after he removed some fluid from my band and the heartburn didnt get any better) SO he took my gallbladder out and the heartburn did get better for about 2 weeks then it came back...needless to say I am back dieting again (something I have done in 2.5yrs) because my band is over half way unfilled...and finally I have no heartburn...THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!! Im doing everything I can not to gain any weight back...but Ive forgotten what it feels like to FEEL hungry and have my stomach growl...IT SUCKS LOL.

SO--I've had my band now for a little over 2 years and I love it. I've lost a little over 100lbs and look to lose about 30more. I'm posting this in this section because the Alabama support area is more my home where I post frequently as opposed to the rest of the board. I've had several of my friends tell me over the last few months how much of a different person I am versus 2 years ago. They all tell me how much my personality shines now whereas before I was more quiet and reserved. I think that when I was fat I felt like nobody would or would want to listen. I always saw myself as the fat girl sitting quietly in the corner! WOW--Im def not quiet and I def dont sit in the corners. I am so excited for things now- I want to get out- I want to go--I want to experience everything that I felt I was missing before! I've kinda read silently across the board about how ppl change after their band...I think the inner person just comes out....I think that we've longed for so long to be happy that it just all comes spewing out at once..... I'm struggling BIG TIME!! With my "personality changes" if you will. Its creating a good bit of conflict at home. I realize now the things that I let go of so many years ago are things that I want back in my life. I don't know, if while I was "fat", I stopped doing those things because nobody else was doing them and I wanted to do all I could to fit in and make others happy that I forgot to make myself happy or what! Anyhow, if anyone out there is struggling with your "changes" trust you me there are hundreds on here that are feeling the same way!!! The goals in life that I had before are definitely not the same goals I have now....I dont ever want to go back to those goals.....the settling goals! I want to keep my new and improved outlook on life and LIVE!!!!!!

So to update....the band definitely changes you. For the good for worse I dont know...all I know is that I have recently gotten divorced and I feel like it has a lot to do with the fact that I have lost sooo much weight. I defnitely dont look at things the way I used to. Was a divorce the right decision for me...Im not so sure all i know is I couldnt stay where I was....and keep "hurting those around me"

Ive had a couple of my friends swallow their gum and theyve had no problems but I understand that it CAN cause significant problems I chew gum all the time. I have found that I cant chew it right after I eat. But I have (knock on wood) never swallowed my gum since having the band. I will be interested to see what others have to say.

WOW--u sound just like I did a little over 2 years ago...I was just like you...diet after diet...never could lose...geez I worried myself CONSTANTLY about which diet I was gonna try next...I worked out though not consistently but over the years I would get in some workouts...NEVER could lose and keep it off UNTIL I got the band....U follow the plan...do what you should U WILL LOSE the WEIGHT!!!!!!! That list looks long but will take no time to complete...and before you know it you'll be sitting on my side telling someone else who feels just like you do now that they can do it!!!!! Its going to be a journey, its going to be tough....but with the support of fellow lapbanders and your determination...you'll pull thru just fine!!!!! OH--yes I didnt post that!! I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am now an Adult Nurse Practitioner :-) SO Excited. I have a new job and am supposed to start May 1!!!! (if I take it though...kinda disappointed) but anyhow...Thank you for asking!!!!!:thumbup: BUT I think Im gonna ask off for the April meeting is it the 2nd or 3rd saturdays of the month I never can remember!
