G2-I read an article about fructose corn syrup how it can really slow down weight loss....thats the 2nd ingredient in G2...and I really LOVE G2 its been my "sodas" lol but anyhow if you compare the label to a coke it has less sugar but still ....I'm trying to cut down all the sugar I can to see if that changes anything.....

Is feeling blah a normal part? I havent lost any weight now in like 3 almost 4 weeks. (I am going to get my 5th fill wed.) I'm to the point where I am tired of getting a new surprise bill from the hospital EVERY SINGLE WEEK and I'm like ok I have put out a lot more money for this that what I was told and I havent lost that much weight and now I'm not losing any weight at all......WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?? I have literally cut my caloric intake in half...I dont drink cokes anymore...even though I just realized that the G2 that I have been drinking is not any better for me...so now I drink only Water with squeezed lemon.....I cant eat bread....I dont snack 100 times during the day infact 3 meals is really all I eat.....WHERE THE CRAP is my metabolism???? Luckily my neighbor who is also interested in getting the lapband just asked me if I wanted to start walking in the mornings YAY I said of course...finally an exercising buddy... OK-I'm done I just needed to vent...my husband doesnt understand. But why should he he doesnt have the band.....holla.

Most def call your doc...whats your temp been running? Just remember that even though you feel fine and you sites look good there could be something else going on.

use 1 scale and weigh yourself when you get up in the mornings.

So, before surgery I always slept on my left side but recently ( I was banded 1/31/08) when I lay on my left side I feel something rubbing against my ribs. It kinda makes me nauseated. As long as I just lay there its ok but if I move its rubbing or grinding in there...just a mild rubbing feeling. I figured it might be the tubing connecting the band...I saw the doc last week and the visit was so quick that I forgot to ask him about it. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue. I dont notice any other probs associated with it. Anyhow I am now back to sleeping on my right side.

SUZANNEG...I have noticed that you have lost a lot of weight and seem to be doing great...share your secret (besides the band!). I dont always work out like I should maybe thats my prob but I just dont seem to be losing..........

I know more ppl that get sick from Gastric bypass than not...that just seems to dangerous for me. I'm a nurse and I worked for a few years in hematology/oncology and we had several gastric bypass patients that would come into our clinic and get monthly infusions of iron and B12 hots....a good friend of mine was in the hospital 2 days shy of 2 years straight after having the gastric bypass....I would never go to that extreme...she has had to have several surgeries....oh and to add to that they recently found a blade that was left in her abdomen after one of her recent surgeries!!!!!!!

I think over time the "I have a port thing" goes away. I barely even notice mine. As far as sleeping the last couple of nights I have slept on my left side and no rubbing feeling.....If it bothers me I just sleep on the other side....

Well, I feel better bc I def eat more than 1/4c. Generally for breakfast I measure out 3/4c kashi go lean (lots protein) and mix it with just 2 tbsp of fat free yogurt...yumyum...I usually have a few bites left over...lunch though I can eat more prob about 2c and the same for dinner.....if I eat bread it hurts and sometimes I throw up.....so I dont eat bread....I havent lost anything in 2 weeks.....I want a fill but dont want a fill.......not sure which way to go.....

My doc also said flinstone chewables were fine. I took 2 but I recently found Centrum chewables and I just take that since I only have to chew 1...

SuzzanneG my port is by my bellybutton which is the fatest part on my body...so I really havent noticed any tenderness until after reading your post this morning I kinda push in that area and it is tender....so I think I'll leave it alone...lol.

MUCH CONGRATS!!! I'll give you a funny NSV...I have had the same bathing suit for 2 years.....it has gotten so big on me that the other day I came up out of the water and the top had fallen down...luckily I was alone...lol Now I cant find swimsuits anywhere!!!

You know what...last night I slept on my left side I just had to and all throughout today I have been tighter than usual...maybe I should sleep on my left side all the time...lol....I dont really hear I grinding I think its just in my head.....I just really feel the rubbing....I toss and turn at night too but it doesnt wake me up so thats good. SUZANNEG...I see you were banded before me....I am surprised that you are still having tenderness around your port area....mine doesnt bother me at all......

OH I LOVE NSVs: Here are mine (even though I havent lost a lot of weight) my neighbor was walking down the street the other day, hadnt seen her in a long time and she was like OMG you look like you have lost a lot of weight...plz tell me what youre doing cuz I need to be doing it too...lol 2. I had to go get a bridesmaid dress for a friends wedding...we tried on dresses last dec. and I tried on the same dress in a size 24 and it was tight....I bought my dress last week in a size 20 and it has to be taken in!!!! 3. I had this fav pair of jeans that I bought from lane bryant....well I jsut had to toss them bc ppl kept telling me that they were sagging so bad in the butt...lol so now I am back in my old pair of fav jeans but even they are too big:) 4. my boss has been out sick for a LONG time and she came back the other day and said...wow kanina your face looks so skinny...... 5. I got wistled at by a construction worker granted he wasnt so hot but I havent been wistled at in FOREVER (except for by my hubby).....

Try to channel handling stress in a different way than eating. Exercise.....what is it that you love to do besides eating...and when you get stressed do that!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!! LOOK AT HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME.....take a glance back at your presurgery pix.......you can overcome it!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!

I agree with the statement above you were not mentally ready for this. And until you are you wont lose. Surgery is such a big thing to put your body thruough to just sit..........I hope soon that you'll wake up.......hopefully something will trigger you into realizing (not just saying) but actually doing what you need to do...good luck.

Which BCBS plan do you have? Do you have Empireblue or just plain BCBS? My insurance was 80/20 as well and up front all I had to pay was my deduct. +500 for something but I cant remember what that was...but see my doc didnt request that I pay anything until I got approved! Insurance co. pay a discounted amount to hosp and such bc they have contracts with them. So, lets say its a 30000 surgey (this is what mine costs) your 20% would be a lot (6K) but the insurance co. says nope we pay the hosp. (BC we have a contract) 4000 for the surgery so your 20% would be 400. I think all together I have paid about 1100...and alot of that was paid after the surgery. Good luck to you...I just dont want to see you shell out 5k unless its absolutely necessary......:cool:

First off I would NEVER go to a dr that requires 5000 up front. If your insurance approves this surgery you shouldnt have to pay anything but your copays and deduct. if you have one and then if its not covered 100% your percentage. PLEASE dont give him $5k......I'd hate to see your insurance deny you and then the dr wont refund your money....These docs that are requiring money up front before seeing if your insurance will even pay are just looking to make a quick buck and not only are they prob getting paid by your insurance company but then theyre charging you too.......FFFFFFFRRRRRRAAAAAUUUUDDDD!!! as for the BMI do you have any comorbidities???

hey I am 25 and totally understand the stress that youre speaking of. I didnt gain weight until I started college. I too tried the Atkins diet lost about 40lbs just like that but then got really sick. Now I hate bacon and eggs!!! LOL Anyhow GOOOOOODDD LUCK TO YOU!!!!!!

My port incision was also the worst one of all...it took a lot longer than the others to look "happy" I was told to "keep an eye on it esp if it starts draining or if you develop any fever"... I actually had one of my incisions open up (it was initially one of the happy ones) and I was all stressed about it and my doc said its ok...it'll heal up and it did but its the widest ugliest scar out of all of them...........good luck to you

I wish that would have been my case bc I got really discourage after my first fill. I lost 15 lbs within the first 2 weeks of surgery. I though GREAT this is going to be wonderfull... Then after my first fill I lost 3more lbs in 6weeks after my 2nd fill I lost a measly lb...now on my 3rd fill I am having GREAT restriction and lost 3lbs this week alone!! :blushing:

If youre having your surgery out of country then theres a surgeon in Anniston AL that does the lapband. He may take on your fills. Dr. Cliff Black. He is associated with Stringfellow Memorial Hospital and has a bariatric center of excellence. But surely there is a surgeon close to you that does the lap band!?

Thats awesome that he doesnt make you wait so long my doc made me wait 6weeks between each fill. But yeah I had to do the water thing to but my doc put so much in took out the needle and then made me drink--I like the way yours does it it sounds like you'll get closer to the sweet spot sooner that way!!!!
