I use to ride horses, and I bought the best sports bra ever. It was by Berlei. I think you can only get them in Australia, but well worth the shipping costs. I bought mine while I was in Australia, and it was the best purchase I ever made. Not great for everyday use, but the girls didn't move while exercising.

Anyone ever feel Anorexic with this band?
meghan1983 replied to TulipStar's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm also worried about this. I haven't had my band yet, but when I was a teen I had a similar pattern of eating. I was diagnosed with Bulimia. When I get that controlled feeling these days (even without the band yet) I use that control to feed myself healthy food instead of binge eating junk instead of not eating at all. I've really found that counselling and being aware of my "triggers" has been helpful. You might find speaking with a counsellor who specializes in eating disorders to be helpful. Meghan -
Have you found this elusive bra?

LOL sad just seems so fitting. They look sad, staring at the floor... all shrivled and wrinkly... the girls need prozac.

I read an interesting article yesterday.... I don't know if I believe it but the gist of it was that as you lose you're body composition changes, and you lose a portion of your lean body mass. So when you are at goal and still have saggy soft skin, it's actually fat that could be lessened by decreasing your fat body mass and increasing your lean body mass. The idea was that skin will form around the body and if it's sagging it's because it is forming around the fat. I don't know what I think about this. I guess I hope it's right, cuz then I can do something about it without plastic surgery... but I have my doubts. Meghan

Missy! I'm from Ontario, Canada. I would love to be lapband friends! When is your surgery?
-
I'm Meghan, I'm 24, and a full time child and youth counsellor. I've been overweight for as long as I can remember and have tried every diet under the sun, starting at about age 8 lol. I have to say I have my fears and apprehensions of failing at this too, but I can't think about that, I just have to put my heart and soul into it...again... which gets harder and harder after non-successful attempts. To be honest, long term health is a bonus for me with this surgery. What i'm really excited about is shopping in regular clothing stores, being able to feel comfortable exercising (cuz I really do want to be active, I just don't feel comfortable at my size with all the little people lol). I really want to ride horses again (I noticed that's a goal for other people too ). I've rode horses since I was about 6, and haven't been on a horse in ages due to my weight. That's me in a nutshell, let's get on with this journey! Meghan

Ok, so i'm booked to be banded on Dec. 7th. I've been reading through these complication threads, and I feel completely nauseous. I know there are risks and complications associated with the band.. it just makes it so much more real hearing from other people about their situations. Is there any way to prevent slippage, erosion, leaking ports or tubing? Please tell me what I need to do to prevent these things if I can because I want to do everything I can to make this successful. Meghan:eek::help:

Anybody started the pre-op diet yet??

Anyone experiencing sore muscles on pre-op? Meghan -
It sounds like you have insomnia when you've got things going through your mind. I experience that and take an anti anxiety (like ativan) to help in those situations. Something to think about. Meghan

So i went to my doctors office today because I wasn't doing well with the Optifast... I think i'm allergic to it. Anyways, I don't have to use the optifast anymore, I can use slim fast with Soy milk. I like it so much better. YAY. Anyways, if anyone in the Hamilton Ontario area would like to buy some optifast off of me, I'm willing to sell! Let me know! Meghan -

I'm 24 and I'll be banded Dec, 7th. I anticipate that it's going to really force me to make changes to my life, especially since right now friends and I usually get together for dinner and drinks a couple times a week. They're going to be positive changes, but still changes I need to get use to non-the-less. Good luck with your surgery. I think I've seen a thread on here for younger bandsters where most people are in their 20's or younger. Meghan

Well.... started the pre-op diet today... It's going to be a really long two weeks. I'm really not a fan of the opti-fast, and I am starving. Anyone have any ideas to make it taste less like chalk? Meghan -
I'm a child and youth counsellor, in a home and community program. I go to people's homes and work with children and youth with behavioural and emotional issues. Mostly, I teach parents how to manage their children's challenging behaviour, but also do individual and family counselling.

I start mine tomorrow. I know it's bad but I'm going for my "last supper" tonight at a all you can eat sushi buffet.. I figure I'll never be able to fully get my money's worth at an all you can eat buffet again and sushi really isnt' that bad... but Optifast tomorrow! I'll let you know what I think of it. Meghan -
Thanks! I know it's just stressing me out to read these things, but I feel like I want to be well informed. I will stop! I DO want to hear how you do on the 30th!, good luck and keep me posted. Meghan

Can they do that? I just told my work that I needed surgery and would be off... I didn't really give them any options around it. I didn't tell them what kind of surgery it was, nor do they have the right to ask. I mean really... what would they do if you had to be off for sick leave, they don't really get a choice as to when you can sick... That sucks, so sorry to hear that.
