I was banded june 1 2007 i have gone from 328 to 265.2 as of today and i am stuck. I take the stairs at work approx 150-300 2 or 3 times a day so really between 300-900 stairs a day. I am not an expert but I can pass along what has worked for me in the past. 1. Make sure you are not running out of energy (Calories) which would cause the exhaustion. 2. Check out the bodybugg device for one reason, it will tell you how many calories you have burned in a day. That is so important in making food choices through out the day, Yes food tracking is involved but with the band how much food do you really have to track. Wear it one day with no exercise and see what you are burning as a baseline. I am burning 3000 calories in 24 hours so now I know I cant eat more that 2500 or I won't lose my 1 pound a week. 3.This is going to sound crazy but your body might have adapted to the stairs and you are most likely not getting the benefit you think. For example, my wife ran three miles a day in the Navy and could not lose weight to save her life. She was really down about it so I suggested that she run this huge hill outside our military base and the weight started to come off. The body is going to adapt to your work out in 90-120 days so you have keep shocking the body.

Can we get a new BodyBugg Usewr Group Going?
Livingthe Dream replied to Livingthe Dream's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Suzzzie, Thanks for the information and that really puts me at ease. I kept seeing my calorie burn go up and I wasn't really doing anything. I never thought I was burning 3000 calories without working out. I am shocked. -
Hello Guys and Girls, I am a new member to this forum and I would like to first say thanks for users on this site for the great advice and feedback that they give for the newbies. What is most surprising is that it is 99% positive with out the attacking comments and negative vibe which is rare online. With that being said I would like to start a new thread about the Bodybugg and the results you folks are seeing. I am not so worried about the price as I have already ordered one but how you guys are using it. Here are some questions that I would like to throw out there. Is the bodybugg of any use for recently lap banded folks? I assume that I will always have a huge deficient considering that I will be eating ounces now instead of my usual measuring guideline of 1 or 2 plates. Are you guys entering all your food that you are going to eat for the day in the morning and working against that number and is that where the display watch comes in handy? I assume the program wants you to eat a larger amount of calories that you can possibly take in while being banded so does that throw off your numbers. Thanks for the advice, I know that there are other bodybugg threads out there but after hundreds of post the original topic is usually long go and it is more of a chat group. Any advice of using this device would be helpful...

Can we get a new BodyBugg Usewr Group Going?
Livingthe Dream replied to Livingthe Dream's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hey guys, I am surprised/shocked at how many calories I burn in a 24 hour period without exercising. I am burning 2500-2800 calories in 24 hours of laying around, driving to work and other random task which have not included working out. I was so convinced that this was wrong that I called support to verify. I used an online calculator and it verified the number. I think process will be a real eye opener since I would have guessed that I was around 2000 calories a day intake. Those numbers don't make sense considering I am obese so we will see. I would like to hear what other calorie burning numbers you guys are logging day to day. What numbers are you seeing right out of bed in the morning? (Verified the answers were not in other post so please hold the "check the thread" postings -

I know I am shooting for the stars but 6 pack ABS??
Livingthe Dream posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Since this is a forum for those that have reached their goal I was wondering if anyone here has taken their weight loss it to the next level? I would love to see anyone that has used the lap band to get done to 10% body fat (Men) or 14-18% body fat for women. Those are the body fat limits before you start seeing the lines in your abs get defined. I am spending $10,000 of my own money and my family is sacrificing for me to do it so I don't see failure as an option. Now defined abs are not mandatory for success of course but I thought I would shoot for the stars and see what I hit. -
I just received the bodybugg display and I don't really get it. The minute I put it on it gave me a 1300 calorie number for the day so I assumed that it would need to be on for a while to get an accurate reading. Is the display giving you an estimate of the calories it thinks that you are burning up based on the entire day? Like right now it says that for today I am 1345 calories and it is 10:00 AM in the morning? So I guess my question is what does the calorie for the day really mean to me on the display. When i downloaded the activity it has me down as burning 556 calories since Midnight so I don't know what this watch is telling me since it is twice that number?

Is there anyone playing basketball with the Lap Band and how quickly can I play after surgery? I am about 80 pounds over my ideal weight and I am a self pay. I have torn an ACL last year playing hoops and I am convinced that my weight was partially to blame. I am going to try and ask a question without coming off like a snob but the big difference I see with me and others on this site is little mention of sport activity and hard workouts. For example, even at 290 I was running full court Basketball games for 2 or 3 hours on average of two nights a week. My biggest vice is the size of my portions. Is there anyone that had this active lifestyle before the surgery and what were your results with weight loss afterwards. I am not trying to paint everyone with a broad brush but I do expect to hit the treadmill, volleyball and basketball ASAP and hope that takes me to the next level.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
Livingthe Dream replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi Guys, Can someone tell me how the fill process goes with Dr. Kirshenbaum? I will be traveling to CO. each month for my fill so I am trying to get an idea of how he does a fill and by what method...Fleuro something? I even saw one post where he filled someone all the way up then took some out. I am patient but at $300.00 a flight it can get expensive even it is free for 3 months. How many fills did you folks need to get? Thanks for all the help and I will be banded by Mr. K next month so hope all goes well. -
yes you did...they are playing with the prices today because I got the digital displays for $59.97 with an additional $20 off because it was over $100 because I ordered two. So with S&H I paid $53.86 each instead of the $99.95 they are saying it is right now. 24 hour fitness is the biggest joke I have seen for a online retailer. I wanted to let the forum know that if you get your order your fine but if not you are in for a rude awakening. You can not contact these folks in any way, shape or form and they all have the same response. "Can you go in to your 24hour fitness branch and ask them?" I dont even have a store here in OKC so this is such a joke.

Sorry Guys, I am still learning how to use the forum.

Sorry, I found it last night and started the new post but I am new to the forum so I am sure I just posted the message in random forums. I got my order in but until I see it on my door step I wont be getting my hopes up. I will let you know when it happens again. I did the same routine with the coupon that had expired and was made that I didnt get the 229 price. This web site is crazy the way they do business.

Hey Baby, Do you have a bike with gears or is it just one gear for everything. I know my parents went out and bought a bike from WalMart and they based their decision on Seat cushion size but gears are important. When you are biking you set the gear for speed that you are trying to maintain. I have put my bike on a very lightest gear possible when going up hills to the point I am just barely moving but I am getting the exercise and I don't have to do the walk of shame. There is no reason to ever get off a bike solely because your legs are burning up. You should shift down and let them have a break. Then of course shift up when you are flying back down the hill.

Hey Guys, I am in the final stages of the lap band discovery process and the only thing left to do it set the date. I had to go to my traditional doctor for a letter and even though he wrote the letter he has planted the seeds of doubt. The good news is I have saved for this surgery and have enough to do the self pay option. Since I am at 34 BMI it is a route I have decided to go. My concern is that my doctor is going to be out of state (Colorado, Dr. K.) and if I have ANY complications my options are going to be pretty expensive. I can fly to Colorado or if it is really bad go to a emergency room where everything is going to cost me since my insurance wont cover anything that has been caused by the lap band they didn't recognize as being needed. I feel like I need to take this leap of faith but cat afford a 25,000 expense that is not covered by insurance.

Boarding the Plane in the Morning, What should be in my bag?
Livingthe Dream posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Guys, I am getting ready for my surgery and getting a tad bit spooked. I have to travel to Colorado by myself and get the surgery done on my own. I need to pack a bag that has everything I need to get by 3 or 4 days on my own in a hotel room. I have heard about GasX and other recommendations but if you had to do it all over again what do you bring in your bag to survive till you can get home to family? What medications like cough drops and what about food since I wont have a chance to get out. I plan to totally stock my hotel room and the bunker down. -
Hey Jules, I am a 6'3 guy about to get the lap band done this month and wanted to say Hi. You are the first posting I have seen where you mentioned your height so I am sure that you got alot of "you carry the weight well" type responses. How was the experience and being tall, any unusual?
-
Hello Everyone. 6'3 Male, 270-280 weight. I was happy to find a thread that had low BMI lap band people that I can relate to. I never thought that I would not be fat enough to qualify for surgery but that was almost the case. I have a BMI of right at 34.5 but since I have high BP and other ailments I was approved. I am self pay so that is also going to be a challenge if I have complications. My main concern right now is that I don't see people that have my body type getting the surgery. People that weigh 400 pounds are happy getting to the weight that I am at now. I am not trying to be mean so please don't take it that way. I have 70 pounds to lose and the last time I got really motivated I got down to 250 only to jump back up to 284. So this is a tool that I will be using to level the playing field. Does anyone have before and after pics of someone that has taken their fitness to the next level and got their BMI to average level. I wonder if I can lose my 70 pounds and build muscle. BabygotBack is looking pretty good so that is encouraging. Thanks for your time.
