  5. Hi ! Has anyone had the Bariatric nectar Protein shakes ? How do they taste? Is there a recommended flavor. Wish they sold separate packets to try. I heard after surgery your taste buds may change not possibly wanting the regular Protein Shakes so thought I might look into trying the nectar. Any feedback would be awesome ! Thanks !

    Bariatric Advantage Nectar Protein

Thanks Bayla1212! I just ordered thru Bariatric Pantry. You can also order a one time variety pack through Syntrax (Co that produces it) for $14 plus 1.99 shipping but it's on back order about three weeks ...I need it quicker since my surgery is in a 1 1/2 weeks.

    Trying to decide...

I was the same too. Went to the seminar back in July with the intention to do the sleeve. A friend had one two years ago and told me a sleeve would be better don't do a bypass. But for all the reasons you mentioned I switch to a bypass. Also there is a better chance of higher % of weightloss with the bypass. There could be a chance if I got the sleeve I would end up getting a bypass anyways if my weighloss wasn't significant enough. I don't want to have to do two weightloss surgeries. Even though there people who lost lots of weight with the sleeve but you don't know what your body is going to do. I need to lose at least 150 lbs. If you have diabetes II the bypass has a good chance of reversing it. MY Dr gave me all the facts of both surgeries and hearing what he he said and my husband's input I changed my mind to bypass.

    Bariatric Advantage Nectar Protein

Thanks MisforMimi I'm doing the Premier vanilla and Chocolate. I will probably get the Bariatric Advantage shakes too. I liked the vanilla didn't like the iced lattee. Still have to try Choclate and Orange Creme. I bought a couple different flavor packets to try out. Best of luck with your recovery.

    Endoscopy? Pre Op diet?

My dr doesn't require a scope. I don't know if its because I don't have too many problems with acid reflux. He also doesn't require a liquid diet. Only 2 days prior. But I'm gonna do one on my own. Exercising will help too. Hoping to start exercising tomorrow.

My doctor doesn't require any liquid pre opt diet except for two days prior to surgery. But I'm gonna do one on my own. I'm also going to work out at the Y. It will help with the recovery time. Will be starting my diet Monday since my surgery date is Feb 9th. One minute I'm freaking out then the next nice calm. Hate feeling like this !

  21. Seeing if anyone has used the Bariatric Resource Center( BRC) through United Healthcare I believe its affiliated with Optumhealth. Were you required to use them ? Were you told it was voluntary ? Were you first told your Insurance plan didn't offer it and then they call you months later and told you can use them ? Any feed back will be great Thanks !
  22. I I finally got approved on Thursday !!!! My surgery date is set for February 9th. Had more stress and drama last week with it. Almost got denied and would of had to start process all over again !
  23. Thanks everyone for your input ! My experience has been very odd. I went to my initial surgeon seminar back in July. The surgeon had mention UHC by name that some of their policies don't require a diet program but to check with them. Made my initial consultation with surgeon along with nutritionist consult on Aug 6th. Prior to that I called UHC to to find out requirements and they told me with my plan don't me that no diet was required. They mention BRS and gave me the number but didn't say whether it was required to sign up with them. Actually the surgeon office told me to call about it because they believe its required. So once again in August I called UHC if I have to contact them what did I have to do. They told me that it wasn't a benefit included in my plan and not to call. If you go onto MyUHC under my account, then go to the benefits section under Bariatric Resource Center it says "Not Applicable". So surgeon submits paperwork to UHC late October, then last week I get a call from Optumhealth about BRC telling me its voluntary and I told them I called back in Sept and I was told that it wasn't available under my program. And they tell me that their is confusion about that and a "grey area". I'm like what ???? I signed up for it so I'm going to get my first consult on Wednesday. My paperwork is still pending hoping to get that straightened out soon. Doesn't look like a Dec date is promising. If they would of told me when I first called what I needed to do instead of continually jerking me around so frustrating ! Again thank you everyone for your input much appreciated !!!
  24. Sept 28 had to complete a 5 1/2 hour pre op nutrition then once that was completed s/b ready to be submitted to insurance co but no word from Dr office so I contacted them Oct 3rd. Told me file was being given to insurance coordinator and once faxed she would call me. 3 weeks later no phone call contact them again this past Monday no call back. Decided to call insurance company Wednesday to see if they got anything which they did the day before Tueday. Why didn't they let me know when they told me they would ? Called Friday she said she never got email but then she says she did get it and did apologize. It's a 2 week waiting period according to insurance co. But Dr office said 2-3 week. Hopefully I'll know something by Nov 5th. Moral of the story : Continually follow up with your surgeon office seems like you can't rely on Surgeon support staff to follow up for you

    pre surgery question

Thanks Epiphani for the input. I'm fortunate my insurance isn't requiring a diet plan......I had to do nutritionist initial consult, submit 5 yrs health records showing weight loss attempts a 5 hour nutrition class for presurgery and be over 40 BMI . The nutritionist gave me impression that once she faxed Class completion they would submit and they didn't I had to call. I am almost tempted to call insurance company to see If it was submitted which should of been 2 weeks ago but will call surgeon office Monday to check status.
