I'm 8 days out and I feel great. I still have some pain at the port site but it isn't too bad. I was hungry the last few days but now I know it was PMS. TOM hit last night and today I've had no hunger. I can barely eat. I actually know I have a band now and this is without a fill. I had some yogurt for Breakfast and it took like an hour to eat it. For lunch I had a few bites of refried Beans. I am having some chicken broth now. I had been eating every few hours the last few days and I have to admit I am so happy the hunger is gone. It actually makes TOM worth it. I've only had 16 oz of H2O and I know I've got to get more in so I will work on that for the rest of the day. Debbie, I'm so sorry you are having a rough time. I promise it will get better. Take your pain meds, they will help.

Hi everybody, I too have hunger pangs every few hours. I've heard from some people that they were hungry at all for the first month. I was hungry 3 days after surgery. I eating something small like a pudding cup or yogurt when I get hungry and that helps.

I was only 2 days post-op so I had some broth and some mashed squash casserole and runny mashed potatoes. It didn't bother me a bit. I stayed out of the kitchen while my mom and sister ate so I wasn't tortured by seeing my favorite meal. We have the same thing at Christmas so I can have a small portion of my favorites.

Karmen, That is great that you are not having any pain. I don't know how all of you on a liquid diet for so long are coping. I was only on liquids for 2 days and then on to mushies for 4 weeks.
-
The strips shouldn't be a problem but just call your Doc and ask.
-
Check with your doc but liquid phase included yogurt and pudding and protein drinks made with milk. You definitely need protein. Buy the protein powder because you will need it even after you heal. It is very important that we get in all of our protein.

It is so interesting how different the Dr's diets are. I did low-carb before surgery, liquids for 2 days after surgery and then mushies for 4 weeks. Mushies include baked fish and cooked veggies and anything the consistency of baby food. Then I will be on regular food.

My port area is still sore but it isn't too bad.

Tish, That is wonderful news! I am so happy for you. I'm so glad you are going to stick with us. We wouldn't have it any other way! :whoo:

I've only had one negative comment and that was from a friend that we call our "Drama Queen". She said "You know you could die from that surgery." I got one of those friend-of-a-friend stories where someone died on the operating table. Not true at all. It turns out the woman had LBS and died several years later from totally unrelated health issues. We are doing this for us and shouldn't matter what others say or think.

I've only lost about 2 pounds since surgery. I lost about 7 pounds on my pre-op diet and the rest I lost since my first visit to the surgeon 2 years when I was at my top weight.

1. To look good. 2. To feel good. 3. To find a man. 4. To be able to shop in the misses department. 5. To be able to enjoy the family vacation with my niece and nephew. 6. To ensure my health does not go down hill. Sadly, my health was at the bottom of my list. I have no health issues but I know if I don't lose weight that will change.

Would you do it again?
Skinny_Jill replied to TerriDoodle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am only 1 week post op and I would definitely do it again. I already feel like a new person. I've quite smoking and I am off caffeine. Even though I've only lost a couple of pounds I am already healthier. -
Hi everyone, I'm Jill, 39 yrs old and I live in Sugar Land, TX, a suburb of Houston. I am a controller for a manufacturing company and I am back in school. I have a 7 month old Cockapoo named Callie and I think she has been my biggest hurdle since being banded. LOL She has a lot of energy so when I want to rest she wants to play. So far my band is great. Today is my 1st day back at work and school and so far so good. The pain isn't bad at all. I'm glad to be out of the house and keeping my mind busy so I can quit thinking about food. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Hi everyone! It seems like everyone is doing well. I am so much better today. I still have a pain in my side and the port hurts but other than that I am doing great. I am hungry quite a bit but I eat or drink a little and I am full. My incisions are very itchy but that just means that they are healing. Ovahkummer - so sorry the surgery was cancelled. I'm just glad that you are okay.

Plateau already???? Can't be....

Pennie, Your body is healing and you should not expect weight loss during this time. You are swollen and your body will retain Fluid during this time. Be patient and when the swelling goes down and body heals the weight will fall off. Just concentrate on taking care of yourself and the band. -
I am doing well. I feel much better today. My port incision is still very sore but that is about it. I get a little bit of shoulder pain every once in a while but the heating pad really helps. Getting up and off the couch was the worst part. That really hurt. I hope everyone else is doing great!

Hi Everyone, I am doing pretty well after surgery on Tuesday. My port incision hurts worse than anything else. I have some pain in my shoulder but not to bad. The heating pad really helps with it. Getting up and down off the couch is very painful but is much better today. Have a happy Thanksgiving! We don't have to worry about gaining weight this year! Jill

I really haven't been too nervous until today. My surgery isn't until the 20th but for some reason it really hit me today. I am going shopping tomorrow to get all of my supplies for surgery. I called the Doc's office today to make sure they received everything from the finance company and they said everything has been taken care of and I ready to go. I'm sure it will come in waves until the day before and I really freak out. Good luck to upcoming surgeries. I hope those already banded are healing quickly.

Hi everyone! It is the morning of surgery. I am nervous but it will be ok. I will check in when I get home! Last post in my non-band life. Jill
-
Good luck everyone! I woke up at 3:30 but I had to get up at 4:15 anyway so that isn't too bad. I am nervous and I'm sure the rest of us are too. Everything will be fine and we are on our way to leading a healthier lifestyle. You are all in my prayers! Jill

Don't worry about it! I'm sure your body will adjust to the calories and the band and you will begin losing soon. Remember that you are in the healing stage. I can't sleep as my surgery is in a few hours. I have to leave for the hospital in an hour and 15 min. Yikes! Keep following the rules and the weight will come off!
-
I hope everything went well. I hope you are able to check in soon. I hope your recovery goes very smooth. It is my turn tomorrow.

Great job Longhorn. I love refried beans so I'm sure I'll be eating them quite often. I am anxious to get the surgery behind me and heal.
