NY Girl, I also feel my port when I bend over. It is a bit annoying but I'm sure it will not be as noticable soon. We will probably get used it and it we won't even notice it.

Stranger138 I can also eat anything I want at this point. It is very frustrating. The hunger drives me crazy. The only advice I have is to eat protein. When I eat protein first I don't get hungry as quickly as I do without the protein. I'm not losing any more at this point and just hope I don't gain before my first fill next week.

The band is designed to help us lose weight (which most of us have done before) but the biggest benefit is that it will help us maintain our weight loss (which NONE of us have done before). The band is only a tool, it is still up to us for it to work. Best of luck to you in making the decision.

That is really strange because the area of stomach that is banded is behind your liver so I'm not sure how anyone could feel it through the skin. This is very interesting. I can't wait to hear what the Doc says. Please let us know.

Welcome and WOW 18 pounds since surgery on the 23rd. That is amazing. I had surgery on 11/20 and I've only lost 6 pounds. What was your post-op diet?
-
Welcome Emily! You are doing great!
-
Oh no. I'm so sorry! I hope it passes quickly. I will definitely be careful after my fill. Thank you so much for sharing.

Marie, My Dr told me it is normal to gain a little when you start eating mushies but once your body adjusts you will start losing again. The same is true when you start eating "regular" food again. Your metabolism will adjust and then the weight will come off. You are doing great! Be patient!

Thanks Mary! Good luck to you too.

Hey everyone, Firebolt, I've only lost 5 pounds since surgery. I lost 5 2 weeks before surgery and the other nine I've lost over the last year. I'm so glad your tumor is not cancer. I would want more answers too though. I'm sure you will get more info when you see the doc. I am so ready for a fill. I am so tired of being hungry. I go to the doc on 12/20 and I will get a fill. I hope everyone is doing well. Jill

Cassandra, What a great weight loss! I am only down 5 pounds since surgery on the 20th. I was only on liquids for 2 days and then moved to soft foods. What type of diet did your Doc have you on after surgery? Jill

Hi all, My first fill will be on 12/20 and I can't wait. I'm tired of being hungry. I am eating much less than before but I have no restriction. I know the 1st month is about healing but I'm ready to live a normal life with the band. My band is the small AP band that has some fill in it but my doc removed the fill during surgery. I wish now he would have left it in. Mary, yes a fill is the same as an adjustment. The doc inserts saline into the port to make the opening to the main part of the stomach smaller so that food flows through slowly and we are full with much less food. That is a very basic description. Good luck to all getting fills. Jill

I am 5'1" and weight 200 and I am in a size 18 but they are getting loose. I can't wait to fit into a 16 again.

I have only been banded for 2 weeks and boy have I been emotional. I had no idea how much I was hiding behind food. I've cried more in the last 2 weeks than I've cried in a long time. I knew that I used food to comfort me but didn't realize how much I did it. I believe that these feelings will come and go forever as it is part of life. The difference is that we can't cover it up with food anymore. We must learn to cope like "normal" people.

Nervous about eating...moving to soft foods

Lauri, I had scrambled eggs one morning and they were very good. I only made 1 egg so I couldn't over eat. -

I am also nervous to try anything new on mushies. I seem to be sticking to full liquids rather than mushies. One night I did have fish and green beans. It was good but I chewed it to death. That should count as part of my exercise! LOL I eat refried beans and mashed potatoes and other than that it is still yogurt, pudding, SF popsicles, juice and broth. I am so scared I will over eat. When I first had the refried beans I did eat too much so I now I am nervous. -
Kristin, I am truly LOL right now. I did not name by band. TOM stands for time of month. Maybe I should name by band though.

Being 9 days post-op I find eating "scary." I don't know how my band will react. Of course I am on mushies but that includes baked fish and cooked veggies which I had last night. It went down fine. I know I don't have any restriction yet because I don't have a fill but I still get nervous with every bite and sip. At the moment I do hate eating which I never thought would be possible.

I'm a newbie so I don't have any advice except that I think it you should his office. Let us know what you find out. Good luck!

Pre-op diet and MURDER - I need a straightjacket!
Skinny_Jill replied to divaofsongs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't think I could ever live without my Diet Coke. People have always told me to give it up and I've always told them I would die before I would give it up. I haven't had one in 9 days and I am surviving. I had a headache the 1st night after surgery but I drank some tea and it helped. I am totally off of caffeine now and it actually feels good. Of course, it was easier to give up after surgery. I'm not sure if I could have done it before surgery. I teared up the night before surgery when I opened my last Diet Coke. I had a little ceremony. It was one of the saddest moments of my life. You will survive! -
I have been really hungry the last few days and then last night I started my period and today I am not hungry at all. I've barely eaten anything. It is so weird. I actually know I have a band now. The fact the hunger is gone makes TOM worth it.

Oops! I am 9 nine days post-op, not 8.
