Where Oh Where have all the Nymphs Been?
Skinny_Jill replied to hollyberries's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi everyone, I am doing great. I need a fill but I am waiting until I get back from Vegas on May 18. I am counting calories, fat and Protein and I am losing but I do get hungry more often than I should. I guess it is good old will power for me for a few more weeks. I can do it. I am working out with a trainer and I am loving it. Cindy - I think I missed the pants story. I am going to try to find it. It's a good thing you tried the bathing suit before you went to the Y. Yikes, that would have been embarassing. Cingyg - You were eating 600 - 800 calories a day and then jumped to 1000 a day. It will take a few days or a week for your body to adjust to the new calorie level. Anytime we increase our calories this can happen. If you don't start losing with the 1000 calories a day then try going up. I need to eat 1200 calories per day to really lose. Also be careful that you aren't eating too much fat. I was sticking to my calories and not losing and it was because I was eating too much fat. I cut back on the fat and the weight started coming off. Linda - Congrats for making the changes to get in gear. I had to do the same. I feel much better now. -
Kendra, That is wonderful news! I am so happy for you. I will keep stompin' away.
-
You will hear many different theories on weight loss. Some feel it is change in diet and others feel it happens due to the anesthesia. Either way, eat your Protein and take your Vitamins. I had surgery 5 months ago and I've had no hair loss. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
-
Cindy, Has your hair stopped falling out? I hope so.
-
I found a way to get over that "normal feeling." Sit around in a bathing suit all weekend. :cursing: My friends and I had our annual girls weekend this past weekend and we live in our bathing suits by my friend's pool. I look much better this weekend but bathing suits don't hide much and it made me realize I still have a long way to go to really be "normal." I've lost over 3 pounds this week. I guess it worked! LOL

I don't have any info but I am in Houston and will probably have some PS after I reach goal so I am gathering info about docs. I thought I would help by bumping up this thread. Good luck!
-
Call your doctor and tell them what you are feeling. Are you drinking enough water/liquids? If not, maybe you do have a kidney infection. Let us know what you find out.
-
The only fear I had was that I would fail. I did not and will not fail. You have to make the decision that works best for you but I can tell that if I had backed out of the surgery it would have been the biggest mistake of my life. I've been banded for 5 months and I've lost 35 pounds. I've never PB'd or vomited. I can eat good healthy food but not too much of it. I can still eat my favorite foods as well but again, not too much of it. It is not easy but it has actually been easier than I ever thought it would be. Life is good! Good luck to you!

If I knew what I knew today ...
Skinny_Jill replied to BandedMomX6's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would definitely do it again. It is the best tool every invented. It is not easy but it is easier than doing it without the band. The food I eat has changed dramatically. I save a ton of money of food and that is saying a lot right now considering how much prices have increased recently. I feel so much better. I've lost 35 pounds in 5 months which is also 7 pounds per month and I am totally thrilled. Plateaus are very normal and this probably won't be your last. Remember that this is a lifestyle change so you need to learn to eat healthy forever. Keep eating healthy and following the rules and you will definitely succeed. Be proud of the changes you've made in your life. Look at the whole picture when the scale isn't moving and see how much your life has changed. You can do it! -
Kristin I am so happy for you! You are doing great! I can't wait to be in 14's. I hope to be there by the middle of May.

i am staying on plan today because ...
Skinny_Jill replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am staying on plan today because I did yesterday and I lost almost 2 pounds. Now that is motivation! -
Your post op diet is to help you heal and is not about weight loss. It is important to follow your doc's orders. I doubt you hurt anything but if you keep it up you could. Good luck!
-
I have a Body Bugg and I burn more calories on the days that I work out in the morning. Your metabolism revs up and burns more. Of course, the important thing is to do it so find the time that works best and stick to it.
-
Craig, I am so sorry you have to leave TX. I would hate to leave. South Carolina isn't too bad though. LOL I hope you find a good fill Doc. Good luck!
-
You have lost 24 pounds in 6 weeks and that is great! That is a very good weight loss. Make sure you are eating enough food. If you starve yourself your weight loss will slow down. You need to eat a healthy amount each day. Follow the band rules. Protein first, then veggies and then a healthy carb if you need it. Chew very well and don't drink during or after meals for 30 minutes to an hour. Drink plenty of Water between meals. Increase your exercise. If you can do this you will reach your goal. Stop beating yourself up and be proud of what you have accomplished.
-
I'm so sorry you had to go through that but at least it is fixed now. I hope you get some answers about the infection. Let us know. I hope your fill kicks in soon. Take care, Jill

Will I be the one for whom the band doesn't work?
Skinny_Jill replied to BrooklynBandster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A properly placed band doesn't necessarily stop hunger, it reduces the amount of food it takes to be satisfied and stay satisfied until the next meal. I will get hungry before the next meal but I am not starving. It is a wonderful thing! -
I was a big beer drinker before the band. I now drink wine. Right now I have little restriction so I drink a beer every once in a while. I sip it slowly and I don't have any problems. It doesn't hurt and I don't burp if I don't gulp it. You can mix alcohol with crystal light or learn to drink it with Water. Jack and water isn't too bad. A shot of jager wouldn't be too bad just don't get too drunk as you might get sick. I occasionally have a margarita but that is a lot of calories. I drink a glass of water between drinks so that I don't drink too much. Now that I eat so much less and weigh a lot less I don't want to get sick. It doesn't take as much as it used to.

Has anyone heard of Pro Nos .....
Skinny_Jill replied to swstacey1977's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I looked it up on the internet and it is for body builders. It has 290 calories per serving for the vanilla and 387 for chocolate. It has 42 grams of protein which is a lot. It seems high in calories to me. I use Unjury and it has 100 calories for 20 grams of protein. -
The first step is to get a fill. If you don't feel you are getting the support you need from your doc then find a new one. Follow the band rules, Protein first then veggies and if room then carbs. Don't drink after meals. Count your calories if you have to. It is a pain at first but after a while it is easy and worth it. Exercise, even if it is just a 10 minute walk it is better than nothing. Do something. Anything. The band won't work without a fill. Good luck!

It is the best decision I've EVER made in my life. I have more energy My knees don't hurt I can wear heels now and my feet don't kill me I no longer shop in the "plus size" section of the store I can buy bras at Victoria's Secret (Did that Saturday) Woo HOO I take my dog for long walks because I want to I have more confidence I work out at the gym and don't worry about what people think I look better I am healthier I don't obsess over food (at least not all the time) I feel like ME again Not sure about the sex thing (yet) but I know it will be better  Find a surgeon and they will file the insurance paperwork for you and tell you what you need to do. It is much easier than you think and it is worth it. The frustrating part is finding out what the insurance company requires. It is ridiculous in most cases but it you can do it. I thought my life would change in that I wouldn't be able to eat out or do a lot because of the band but I can do everything I did before but now it is easier.
