  3. It really is a tool. I gotta do a better job at exercising and do as much as I can for this first 12 months. I've heard from many people that you'll be able to eat more food at about or after a year or so. :/

    How long til incisions heal?

The main exit incision will hurt for up to 4 weeks or so. It gets better closer to 3-4 weeks but even then, if I sat up too quickly or twisted a certain way it hurt. Hang in there!

3 Days post op Stomach Growling

Liquids and purees go down very easily and get funneled out very quickly from your stomach. Wait until week 3 & 4 with semi/solids. It's a different story. You get full so super fast. Each day is different. I'm 8 weeks out and for the most part I'm not that hungry. Sometimes I do get hungrier than others though. But def not like before surgery.
  10. TWOVILLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today I moved out of the 300's and into the 2's! It feels great to live in twoville ???? Next stop, I'm hoping at some point in my life, it would be great to just feel what it's like to live in Onederland! CHEERS
  11. So my wife claims that this sounds hormonal because she was like this being pregnant. But my biggest problem right now, is that the on,y thing that sounds appealing to me when I'm thinking about what to eat is anything carbs. Wether it's those little 5 oz mashed potato or Mac n cheese microwaveable cups, some rice, some little soft Pasta stars, a baked potato. meat just sounds very gross to me when I think about eating it. I was a meat eater before. So what's happening now, if you ask my opinion, is that my weight loss has kinda stalled (I'm 6 weeks out), I was losing anywhere between 4-5 or 6 lbs even, I'm lucky to lose 2 and go up randomly etc... I think even though I'm eating like 600-700 cals/day, it's mostly carbs with Protein only coming from a Protein shake and Nugo 10g Protein Bar. (The high protein Quest bars just don't taste good). So, I'm not eating enough real protein or meat. Is this happening to anyone else? Meat just doesn't sound good, but anything carbs does. I will try eating more yogurt, eggs and string cheese sticks etc... But I'm really hoping I'm able to make meat sound good to me again soon, as I think my weight loss will only improve and become more consistent with eating more protein with every meal.
  12. It's not even that I'm against veggies or fruit either. I love to eat them as well. I make veggies all the time and have a couple fruits every day. That's not it. I also don't think I'm also just craving carbs because I'm eating a lot of them. It's not like I'm purposely just eating or craving them. My point is, that I was a huge meat eater before surgery. It's well documented that hormones can change what you liked before vs what you like now. I tried eating a chicken sausage yesterday, previously one of my favorite things before surgery. I ate it all but the last half was literally forced. Same thing with chicken breast etc...
  13. Hi all, well it has gone by super fast, but I'm one month out today. Was sleeved 9/10. My main exit incision pain is pretty much healed. That was my nagging pain, which was worst part for me. My weight loss one month post op surgery is 27lbs. Total weight loss pre op & post op together is 74lbs. Blood pressure has dropped significantly about 25 points. It's very exciting! My main problem right now is that honestly a lot of foods, almost all, just don't sound appealing to me. Many of the Proteins and meats just kinda don't really sound good and I was definitely a meat eater before surgery. Hoping it changes some moving forward still some point. My goal for month 2 is 20 lbs. CHEERS!
  14. Wait until you start eating semi solids or regular foods. You'll know! It's very restrictive. I felt the same way. If it wasn't for my exit incision pain, you'd think I didn't have a procedure. It wasn't until week 3 that I started to feel restriction.

    Peanut Butter

I eat some peanut butter here and there since about 3 weeks out or so. Went down fine for me.
  16. Very normal. For me, I was hungry too but also could be thirst pains, or even stomach acid. Are you taking Pepcid? Liquids and shakes go right down through your sleeve like a funnel. I was the same way. Believe me, once you start semi solid foods you'll feel it right away. My appetite and hunger is way way diminished also. I'm one month out and There are some days I just don't even want to think about food. Stay hydrated and get in your protein right now, you'll do great!

    I feel so frustrated

It is fairly normal for most sleeve patients to be put on a PPI like Pepcid 2-4 pills per day to reduce stomach acid. I've been on it since day 1 in the hospital. I'm one month out.

    Average daily calorie intake?

Two shakes are 320 calories by themselves. During puréed stage, you should be eating 400 easy. One Greek yogurt is 130 calories. What else are you eating? I'm 3 weeks out and I'm at about 500-600 cals per day.
  19. It was still hard for me to swallow on day 2. Hang in there, it gets better every single day. On day 2 it took me all day to finish one 11 oz protein shake and I got in prob about 20 total ounces of liquid. Even taking the 2 oz little cup of pain meds took me like 10 mins to drink. I promise you'll notice every day you can swallow easier and more.
  20. It gets better literally every day. Swallowing liquids gets better every day too. I know what you mean. I'm three weeks out. It took me literally 20 minutes to take down my 2 oz pain medicine. My first day at home it took me all day to finish one 11 oz protein shake. By day 3 I was drinking 2 shakes. You gotta sip sip sip all day. It will feel like a job. Don't worry about exact numbers and ounces for the first few days. By day 3 or 4 you should try to drink 4 to 6 ounces of liquids an hour. That's doable and it should get you to around 64 ounces. You'll feel a lot better in a few days! By day 5/6 or so I was off my pain meds. The exit incision is gonna be the worst part. It still is sore for me a bit, especially if I twist a certain way.
  21. Well folks, I've read about it over and over and over and over again....3 week stall. It won't happen to me I said. Well it's a for sure thing. Been stuck now at the same weight all week and it's really really frustrating. Especially when my doc says a guy my size should be able to drop about 20 lbs a month in the beginning. Incision pain starting to get better and I've gone to the gym, walking on the treadmill, moving more, nothing seems to help. Been following the rules, eating about 600 cal per day consistently. scale is just being a lil B**** at the moment. ???????????????????????????????? ???????????????? Praying for a better week 4! I realize it's not a sprint and I'm committed, just darn frustrating.
  22. Yes it's weird. My guess is that the body is coming out of shock and trying to store fat as were pretty much starving it. I'm guessing it will just snap out of it when it doesn't have a choice but to use up our fat and glucose storage. Well I guess we can look on the bright side. I've also dropped 19lbs since surgery on 9/10.
  23. I feel the same! I thought it was weird. I had my main exit incision pain hurt and it's still sore and for the last few days I've also had a pain right above my belly button, center. This has been my one and only main pain. I hope it goes away soon man!!! I got a drumming gig next weekend! GRRRR

Eating regular food = DIFFERENT STORY!

I'm almost 3 weeks out. Started eating soft foods and deli meat etc... And it's night and day difference. I'm doing good. I still have a sore exit main incision and my abs are sore and have a bit of pain if I twist, but that's been the only thing uncomfortable was the incision pain. Drinking and swallowing got better each day. If I eat too much on my spoon or too fast I get some "full" feeling at the bottom of my throat. Other than that, not bad. I've lost 18lbs since surgery Sept 10 and 65lbs total with preop.
