Breastfeeding 2 years post op
momof4intexas replied to soonenough162's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I'm nursing my 13 week old baby and I also get extremely hungry at times. I just try to focus on healthy snacks. I eat half an avocado daily, cashews, coconut oil, etc. I also make sure to hit my protein goals. As long as your choices are healthy, I don't think you will gain by eating more. -
Post Partum after High Risk Pregnancy w/Gastric Sleeve
momof4intexas replied to Faerietailz's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Your experience really resonates with me. I was also shocked to find out I was pregnant, 18 mos post VSG. I noticed I didn't have near the restriction that I did before my pregnancy. I gained 40lbs during my pregnancy and spent 4 mos on very strict bedrest / combination hospital bedrest. Watching the numbers go up instead of down really messed with my head. After giving birth 1/16/15, I lost 25 lbs in the first few weeks. But since then I have managed to gain 10lbs back. It's hard work! I stress about eating to little and messing up my milk supply. I also worry if I work out too much I could hurt my supply. So I've decided to go back to basics. I'm doing 3 shakes a day just to increase my calories and Protein consumption. I'm eating lots of veggies and healthy fats. I'm working out 5 days a week, 2 hours each. I sure hope to see results in the coming weeks. In my opinion it's trial and error. Just figuring out what works best for your body. I found a gym where they are amazing with my baby and my toddler. I can view them at all times in a CC TV. Honestly, with 4 kids it's the only me time I get. Can you find a different gym where you feel comfortable leaving your sweet baby girl? I attached a pic of my little Vivian. ???? Are you on MFP? I'd love to be friends and support each other! -

RE recommended sleeve but Bariatric surgeon recommended RNY. Help!
momof4intexas replied to TN_Gal's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I would think a pregnancy post RNY would be more stressful then post VSG. I'm almost 36 weeks pregnant post VSG and I haven't had any malnutrition issues not had the VSG caused me any complications or higher risk. Good luck however you decide! -
IUGR diagnosis post VSG. Any advise?
momof4intexas posted a topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
It's been a tough week for us. On Monday we were told our baby girl has asymmetrical IUGR. She is at 10% for growth. My blood pressure has gotten pretty high as well, so I'm now on strict bedrest with weekly Dr visits, non-stress tests and Biophysical Profile tests. We are praying to make it another 6 1/2 weeks to hit the 37 week goal for induction. But if the blood flow or her growth slows even more, she may be better in the NICU then inside me. This came as a shock to us and has been difficult to adjust to. I've increased my Protein, healthy fats and calories. It's the only thing I know that may help. Has anyone else been through this? Baby measured a little ahead 10 weeks ago at the anatomy ultrasound. So it's only been in the last 10 weeks or less that she isn't growing well. -

Pregnant-does OB have to know about WLS?
momof4intexas replied to Sassypants92201's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
My own sister doesn't know I've had WLS. But all my Dr's do. I think it's important that your OB know so they can make sure baby is getting everything it needs to grow. My OB has been awesome! He knows I can't eat 2000 calories a day unless I ate all processed crap food. He is ok with my lower calories and feels like my healthy food choices are great for baby. He is also doing a modified gestational diabetes test for me as I wouldn't be able to tolerate the glucose drink. I haven't needed to see a specialist or anything else because of my WLS. I'm 25 weeks and baby is doing great! She is right on target growth wise and I'm up 8 lbs. My goal is to only gain another 5 - 7 until delivery. Again my OB is fine with this. Good luck!! When are you due? -
How long after surgery where you, when got pregnant?
momof4intexas replied to vanessa012287's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
This surprise pregnancy happened at 17 mos post sleeve. I was a very high BMI sleeve patient so even thou I've lost 140lbs I have about 40 - 55 to get to goal. I really wish I had gotten to goal as it's so hard watching the scale go up instead of down. I'm 25 weeks and up 8lbs. My OB is ok if I hold steady or if I gain. I'm hoping not to gain more then another 5 - 7 lbs total. That way after delivery I should be at my lowest weight... -
pregnant... and already got rid of my "big" clothes...
momof4intexas replied to makemyownluck's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I love Old Navy's maternity section!! I've gotten a couple things from Ross, Motherhood Maternity, Goodwill and eBay. But my favorite is Old Navy. They have cute options and the prices are awesome! -
I'm getting ready to do my gestational diabetes test. I'm my OB's first sleeve patient. I told him I didn't feel comfortable doing the typical glucose test and explained why. He agreed with me and instead he will run my blood work to check my A1C levels and have me do a couple fasting blood sugar levels. This is my 4th pregnancy. I've never had GD and am in better shape this time around. Besides the fact that my diet is already similar to a GD diet. Hopefully I won't have GD this time either. But I'm very thankful to not be doing the traditional test!
