Anyone stop all Thyroid Rx post op?
Alumace replied to JaneJaneDoe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told you won't stop after the op however as you loose weight there's a chance in lowering the dose or going off it. -
I'm almost 4 weeks post op I can start soft foods in a few days at last. Lost 10kgs since my op on 6th nov but hit a stall. Been having back problems but it's on n off prob because I've been a lot more active than I ever have since my 20s. Back then I used to walk everywhere till I got to the point my feet couldn't handle walking I got nerve damage due to diabetes and posture related. My insulin just dropped 5 more units from 60u preop lantus to 35u and insulin during the day depends on what I eat if it's say yogurt I have 4-6u. But I only have yogurt 2times a day cause I can add 28g Protein per serve. Hope everyone's doing good.

Are you drinking plenty of water. I were told I need like 2L which I only drank 1.5L so hard too -
Sorry been late responding, I had my op done in Perth Australia St. John of God hospital Subiaco.
-
My surgeon told me that the chemical in the drips can raise your sugar levels. I weren't paying much attention he talks way too much at times. But after surgery my insulin had to go down then up then down again.
-
7 days post op my self and no energy. Surgeon said I'm not allowed protein drinks like optifast so now I use unflavoured protein powder in yogurt and soup which I get around 80g protein a day. It will take time I'm just gonna try get as much protein in daily as I can.
-
I know a good unflavoured protein brand and you can check up chemist warehouse for others. I'm in Perth so not sure where you are. But for unflavoured you add to yogurt or chicken soup etc it's called Fortis 100% whey protein bit pricey but it smells like powdered milk lol.

My ideal size would be around size 16 only because I'm 6 ft 2 I don't want to look like a twig.

Don't seem to have gas pains anymore. Have a pain in my left side when I'm walking tho. But so far found that I don't need my high blood pressure meds anymore and my insulin dosage is down by 20u.

Had my surgery 6th November. Some pain in the left side but only happens when I walk to much. Not hungry drinking enough water I hope. Off my high blood pressure meds and my lantus insulin has gone down 20u so all going good. 2nd night in hospital I kept have hot flashes but seems to have gone down now. -

how often do YOU get your blood work done?
Alumace replied to itsmekarenlee's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I had RNY done but I need tests done every 3 months to keep check on my liver kidneys etc due to being diabetic. -
Had RNY done last Thursday so far I don't have high blood pressure anymore. My insulin dosage used to be 8u,10u,18u nova rapid for each meal and 60u lantus for bed now I take just lantus 40u. I'm type 1 diabetic and told that insulin diasage will drop more. Not sure on my under active thyroid yet I'll wait and see. But to hear my blood pressure is ok n not needing tablets is great.
