Am I selfish for wanting bypass?

I'm a bit different type 1 diabetic, high blood pressure, under active thyroid I'm 6 ft 2 321lbs at 42 Bmi. Was told to have gastric bypass however if I loose another 25kgs before op I can get sleeve but loosing that in 6 weeks I'm not pushing it. I would say you are not selfish if you were so am I. I want to loose weight it's just not possible with diet for me with the amount of insulin I'm on and other meds. So do it and loose weight so you can feel good there's nothing wrong with wanting it.

    Chewable vitamin! YUK!

Should be able too. Least I hope so I can't stand chewable tablets ????
  3. Just got back from dietitian and told I'm doing fine however I need more protein. So either an extra protein shack a day or I suggested eating a can of tuna with light mayo n salad for a snack in between sometime during the day. So that's what I'm gonna do. Need 100g protein pre op then 80g post op.
  4. I just need pay the out of pocket to get a date the doc said it will be 4 weeks after payment. While in meantime I need to see the dietitian and endolologist (diabetics specialist) then all ready to get started.
  5. I love Australian medical. I have private health cover the doctors fees rnt covered tho but costs 6-7k. Everything else is like hospital stay. The past 2 years I've been to hospital around 6 times for diabetes complications each time it was a selective procedure. I've had bleeding in both my eyes which ended up needing to be drained and a ton of lazer treatments. Each time the most I've waiting was a week or 2 max. So easy to get these things done in Australia. But if people had the cash they can prob get the op done there pretty quick but that's a whole lot of $$$$$
  6. Well I've been to the doctor says I lost 3kgs in the 2 weeks. Suggested a diabetic dietician and a diabetes specialist for post op since the one I see in royal Perth hospital is useless ???? As soon as I pay the 6k for the out of pocket costs it will be a 4 week wait so give it 5 weeks then I'll have my op. I was told pre op diet is liquids for 2 days. I'm all ready on a protein shake 2 times a day and I cook my own dinner which I chose to do. I think I'm doing a good job so far my insulin dose has been cut from 130+ units to 108 units a day from cutting carbs from my diet. Use to eat lots of potatoes, bread etc before starting this diet
  7. I plan to only tell close friends and family however no doubt my dad will tell my uncles etc who I rarely ever talk too. But who cares I'm trying to fell better and get better for myself. Who I have told that I plan to have the op said to get it get it or do it do it as told from a friend on Facebook lol. If my dads side of the family disagree to hell with them as long as I end up healthier and happy that's all that counts rite.

    Pre op clear diet

You can try just chicken soup. I normally just chop any veggies I have on hand into cubes with a few cups water with chicken stock. And have a chicken with no skin or fat otherwise when trying to drink it may get oily content >_< but that's just my idea I tend to just throw things together and hope it works.
  9. You can try going to a chiropractic for the pain you did stay in a hospital for 2 days or so. One time I had a eye op and had to lay on my side for a week pulled my neck n shoulder something fierce.
  10. Agree too. I've been on thyroxine for 22+ years also a T1 diabetic for the same and my weight still kept going up. When I went for my first app with the bariatric surgeon he asked (why haven't any of my doctors suggested this operation). Not one doctor suggested me getting a gastric bypass until I had hormone problems due to my weight and diabeties.
  11. I read that after the bypass you intestines produce a chemical that helps control sugar I think been a few days since I read up on it. But trying to find links that have info on what effects diabetics have after a gastric bypass is difficult. I have a app on Tuesday and a list of questions to ask him so I'll keep looking it up.
  12. Pretty much everyone I know have said to get it only one person said not to due to the amount you can eat. The only problems I see is if I happen to have low blood sugars after how is it treated. Was told can still have milk which is a great way to get rid low sugars but least I got more questions to ask the surgeon on Tuesday I have been researching a lot. Everything points that's I should have the op way too many pros than cons.
  13. I'm 6ft2 I'll be happy to get into 16 I'm size 26 ATM ????
  14. You can try hair, skin nails vitamin tablets I have type 1 diabetics and tend to have thin hair and oily skin as it the tablets help a lot
  15. Final straw I would say after having 5 operations to correct my eye sight due to diabetics complications. And being hired by cheesecake shop for cake decorating and couldn't even fit in the bath room so embarrassing. Then getting fired from the job same day because I couldn't handle the work load. So now I'm just looking for the money to pay the gab for the operation for gastric bypass all hospital and theatre is covered thank god >_<. But ATM I'm dieting on 2 health shakes a day and small dinner been feeling a lot better while doing 30 min exercise a day.
