Well, it is finally here. My sleeve is scheduled for this morning. Not too nervous, but feeling a few last minute jitters. I will be picked up by a shuttle for the trip across the border in about 30 minutes!

He said as long as I am asymptomatic, he would not recommend the hernia repair. About 65% of my stomach was above my diaphragm and was fused in place. I hope that your surgery is successful, and I am so sorry to hear about your husband being laid off. hang in there and try not to worry.

I had no symptoms at all of the hernia. I was very surprised.

I live in Texas, so I was able to drive down and back. I am not irritated about it. I was given a generous partial refund and I am just glad to be home and relatively healthy. other than incisions hurting, I feel pretty good, no nausea.

Thanks, Luckyone. After starting my procedure the surgeon closed me back up without sleeving me. it tunes out that I had a huge hiatal hernia that couldn't be repaired. The surgeon said that trying to sleeve me would be too dangerous. So I am home now and resting. Very disappointing outcome, but I am just glad I picked a wonderful surgeon who was looking out for my best interests and future welfare.

Hang in there, Luckyone! You will do just fine. I'll be getting sleeved on Saturday by Dr. Alvarez, and I am pretty excited now! I'll probably see you walking in the hall this weekend, and we can say hi. Sending prayers and best wishes your way!

Congratulations, sbarbiegirl! And thanks for the encouragement. I'm having a few last-minute jitters, but hanging in there for Saturday!

September Sleevers
geckowoman replied to 1Sleevecomingup's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CPArnold, congratulations on your positive attitude! I am being sleeved on 9/27, and I can hardly wait. I have an energetic, skinny husband who never understood why I can't just eat less and exercise more. I have convinced him to support me in getting the sleeve, and now he has decided to be my supportive "coach." I am ready for this. I am sick of sleeping with a CPAP, and tired of taking meds for heart failure, BP problems, lipid reduction, cholesterol reduction. I am tired of being tired all the time. It is time to take my life back! I want to be able to travel with my husband and participate in all the activities he now enjoys. So whatever it takes, I am going to do it. I really don't care if I can't eat the way I used to. It is a small price to pay for my health and happiness. -
Day 1 Liquid Diet... Fun, but not really....
geckowoman replied to TeacherMommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started mine today, although my surgeon did not require a liquid diet prior to my surgery on the 27th. I am drinking a Protein shake at breakfast and another at lunch. For dinner I can have a salad with some type of protein and fat free salad dressing (or olive oil and vinegar). I am also now completely decaffeinated, decarbonated, and alcohol free! Lots of Water and decaf iced tea. -
September 27th is my big day in Piedras Negras. I am excited and a little nervous!

My procedure is scheduled for September 27th with Dr. Alvarez! I am looking forward to the beginning of this new journey in my life, but am nervous as the date approaches.

Hi! I am having my sleeve done by Dr. Alvarez the very next day, September 27th! I am so glad to connect with someone else who will be down there at about the same time. My husband will be coming with me. I have told only my sister and one or two close friends that I am having this procedure, and all have been supportive. Dr. Alvarez's reviews are very good, and I feel confident that this will be a good journey.
