Well, I had my lapband surgery in January and since my first consult and today, I have lost about 60 pounds. I probably wasn't the best person to my family as I was trying to get through my addiction to food. I had a short fuse and probably blew my top more than I should have. Until the first week of February, I was feeling great about myself and feeling great emotionally. Life was, for the first time in many years, wonderful.
Then I had the rug pulled out from under me. My Wife told me that she was no longer in love with me and that she wanted to separate. I was and still am devastated. We are in counseling, but I'm not optimistic that she is as committed as I am into saving this marriage. Of course, I'm starting to go back to my old habits of eating, even to a point where I get sick. I'm back to feeling terrible. I just feel the need to purge right now. I'm not really sure whether I'm looking for advice or just need to purge.

I had my first fill on the 21st. Everything seemed to go well. However, this weekend was the first time ever that I got sick after eating. Both times I did everything wrong: Eat too fast, too much and didn't chew as well as I should have. Just a heads up. Please watch what you eat and chew really, really well. I haven't had my head in the toilet since my college years!

Well, after I left the Drs. Office, I kind of felt silly, but I thought better safe than sorry. It sticks out a lot more when I stand up. IT almost looks like I have an Alien about to come out of my body! LOL
Thanks All

well, I hope that you are right. If it is the port, the thing is a lot bigger than I thought.

I am about 3 weeks post op. This weekend, I felt a decent size lump where the port incision is located. The lump is about the size of a jumbo egg and is tender around its edges. It's a little warm, but not hot nor is the skin area red. I called the Dr and I have an appointment today. Anyone have this issue? I'm actually pretty nervous about it.

Although I was skeptical and maybe this is a coincidence, but I tried peppermint tea and it seems to work! I only used 2 Gas-X strips yesterday

I just bought an awesome one today from bed, bath&beyond. It was $99 & it measures weight,BMI, body Water percentage, daily caloric intake and bone mass which measures Calcium and Vitamin intake. You program it to your exact weight, height and age and it keeps a running log of the last 500 times you step on it so you can track differences day by day. It is called a Tanita InnerScan Body Composition Monitor. Its really simple to use and understand, I love it!!CountingtheDays: Do you know which model you purchased, i.e., BC573, BC533, BC534 or BC551. They all vary in prices.
Good luck on your banding next month. I had mine on Jan 8. I feel pretty good so far.

Pepermint tea....sounds good! Thanks all!

I was banded on Jan. 8th. I've been having terrible gas pains since then. Everytime I belch/burp/hiccup, it is just awful. I'm taking Gas-X strips very often but nothing seems to help. Could I be taking too many of these strips? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

I was banded on Jan 8th. My Doc has me on liquids only. I've been "surviving" on my Wife's chicken Soup broth, beef broth, Protein shacks, sugar free Jello and ice pops. I hate oatmeal but I can't wait until I can have some. I've been also taking Gas-X strips a lot. Still have the "elephant sitting on my belly" feeling.

This may sound like a stupid question, but does anyone have any recommendations as to a good bathroom scale?

I'm having the same gas issue. Gas-X thin strips seem to help a bit, but most importantly, you must sip slowly. I need to practice what I preach. ; )

the gas pains have been pretty tough. Hopefully, they'll go away soon and everything will be back to normal

I was told no liftiing over 10 pounds for the next 30 days

Got mine yesterday! A tad sore and bloaty but otherwise okay.

Thanks all. Now if I could only get some sleep! My stomach is playing the bongos and one of our Great Danes keeps jumping off and back on our bed.

My surgery is scheduled for Jan 8 at 11am. That's only 12 hours away! YIKES!
-
Any advice? I'm anxious/excited/nervous and even a little scared.

I'm having the surgery on Jan 8th. Since about late October, I've done mostly treadmill (fat burn) stuff. A little bit of weights but not much. I've been trying to walk 2 to 3 miles per day everyday. Since my first consult (10/29), I've lost about 24 pounds. I'm hoping to lose some more pounds and then work on the muscle tone.

Congrats Justin! I go in on the 8th!

I am scheduled to be banded on Jan. 8th. I have been on a liquid diet since 12/26. I am also Type II diabetic and on 12/26, I had a terribly low blood sugar (47). My Dr. immediately told me to get something like an orange in me ASAP! After that, I felt much better. But here's another bonus: Since that incident and after heavily monitoring my blood sugar for the last few days, I have been told by my Dr. to not take insulin (Unless my blood sugar goes above 140, which it hasn't). For the first time since 2004, I don't have to have 3 shots of insulin/day!
The liquid diet that my Dr has put me on is tough, but so far, I've been good. Try to mix the liquids around, i.e., Protein shake, Soup, crystal light with unflavored Protein, etc. Since my first consult on 10/29, I have lost 24 pounds.
If I can do it, you can do it.

Still waiting on the answer to the sex question!!!
That's a heck of a motivator!

I'm sorry to have mislead anyone. When I said purge, I did not mean throwing up. More of a purging of emotion. I guess "purge" was not the right word
Sorry
