  1. I wouldn't see why not.. they usually want you to use a antibacterial kind of soap or just water on surgical areas though, at least with my C-section it was that way.

When you can't even be honest with yourself

Not everyone is the same.. I dont know why this bothers you so much, but WHO CARES? Everyone is different.. I am usually a VERY open book, but after choosing to share my decision with a couple people and their negative reaction, I don't want to talk about it, but people will have questions.. I think that a lot of people admit it afterwards, but at first and before your surgery, its a private decision.. If you wanted to get a boob job, do you feel it is everyone's business? Do you choose to share your salary with your friends?
  3. Do you strength train? Might be time to start putting on some muscle. :-)

    Weights

I already lift weights, and my Doctor told me that I'll need to take about 2 weeks off of heavy lifting, but can start back to light lifting 3-4 and back to normal at 4 weeks. I'm hoping so, becuase I don't want to lose my progress.
  5. Hello! I've started my pre-op diet, and my surgery is in January.
  6. I get it, cause I'm pretty open, and I feel weird about lying. I just told my boss that I am having surgery in January and left it at that. She didn't ask. I told her I plan on working at home for 2 weeks. I'm sure she can figure it out though, becuase we are office mates, and she is nice and seems supportive. However, I am starting a new job in November, and I'm not as close to my new boss, plus he is a male, so I'm not comfortable telling him why. I just told him after I accepted the position that I would be having a surgery in January and will need to be off a couple days, but can work at home for about 2 weeks after. If I need an extra week I should be ok. I've started my pre-op diet and I'm losing already, so it shouldn't be a big surprise.
  7. Who is your insurance? Do you have any comorbities, i.e. high blood pressure, sleep apnea, aching joints, etc? Because ours said if you are 35 + comorbities, they will pay.
  8. Great! I start my nutritionist this Friday.. and I have my second information session on Monday. I'm ready!
  9. I feel like crying for you!!! You look amazing!!

    So Humiliated...

This is true.. but at the same time.. we want cheaper flights! We want to pay $200 round trip.. so I'll take being a little cramped for 3-6ish hours, over having to pay $1,000 for a flight. I have to agree. I'm really, really sorry you were humiliated, I would have been too, and I'm not saying the person wasn't rude, but how is it easy to approach the subject? Maybe she was trying to save you later embarrassment of someone pitching a fit and saying they are cramped. Its not fun, but hoepfully in the future you will fit with plenty of room! That's what I hope!

plastic surgeon. Just going to say it!

Hugs!! The thing is.. most plastic surgeons are dicks! YES, I'm serious. I have friends who have went through med school and talked about how ridiculous the plastic surgeons usually are.. and sometimes the best Doctors have the WORST bedside manner..

    That's my ultimate goal! Congrats!!
  14. I would love to keep a group going! I scheduled my cardio appt nov 7 and my pulmonology appt on nov 10!
  15. I have thought about getting bariatric surgery for a very long time.. over 10 years. Now that I've finally gotten my husband Ok with it, and I have made my consultation appt, my sister and mother are now really coming out as unsupportive about it! I'm really shocked. My sister is my best friend and she almost seems angry that I've made this decision.. Anyone else have experience?
  16. I say give it a try.. if it ever starts to go south, you can see your surgeon again.

    Excess skin - warning photos

It doesn't deter me either.. I think you look GREAT! If you lose another 40 pounds, and get to your goal weight, it will probably shrink even more. I can't even imagine you losing another 40 pounds, cause you seem tiny!

plastic surgeon. Just going to say it!

Was this guy recommended by your bariatric surgeon?? Our office has a plastic surgeon on staff! I would find one that is connected to a bariatric center.
  19. Well, the good thing is.. keep losing this much a month and you will be down 100 pounds in 4 months! 25-30 pounds is amazing, and think how much you would have lost without? 2 pounds a week, if you were lucky!

    menstration during surgery

What a jerk! I'm surprised he wouldn't have had gloves on anyway.. its just another bodily fluid! Good luck tho, i'm sure you will be fine!
  22. Hey everyone. I am having my surgery in January with Dr. Tran from Dr. Fullum's office at Howard Univ. Hospital.. Anyone use him? I saw one person has..
  23. wow, you've done well! I live in Southern Maryland (St. Mary's Country) and I am going to Dr. Tran at Howard University Hospital. Just started the process and go to my first nutritionist appt on Oct 17th. I have to do twice monthly for 3 months. Not sure if it really *starts* on Oct 17th, or since my consultation..
