After 2-mos hiatus from the gym my endurance is zero and my legs hurt. Advice, please!
Chrystee replied to My Bariatric Life's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I was in seriously good shape, got pregnant and was sick the whole time, then basically did nothing for a whole year and a half.. UGH. When I started back to the gym it was SO HARD. I had LOST EVERY SINGLE gain I had made.. it was upsetting, and humbling. -
Cause they want accolades for doing it the "harder" way and being more successful than you.

Amazing. I've wanted to start doing tri's, and my weight is holding me back, I can't wait until I have the sleeve. -

Do you notice how much others eat?
Chrystee replied to *Lexie*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've always been heavy, so when I had my first child, I never, ever worried about what my son was eating as a toddler.. He ate mostly very healthily anyway, but I never wanted to upset his natural cues to stop eating. -

I hadn't.. I just felt like I ate normal. We had our three meals, which dinner was a sit down with courses.. however, they were very small portions, so even though we ordered 2 or 3 of the dinner dishes, we would eat a few bites of each and be done.. but, it was also healthy food. I tried not to eat a lot of breads/pastas.. tried to eat my Proteins first.. plus, we worked out in the morning, and danced all night! -

Its ok.. I've been where you are, which is kind of in denial. I eat good foods too! I eat as organic as possible, high quality foods, etc.. but I also eat too much.. but I was where you were before. I'm honestly not trying to be mean or anything.. I totally understand, I totally get the whole PCOS thing, and I understand that it IS harder to lose weight with PCOS. It is.. but our bodies don't work like other folks, who don't have it.
-
Finding something that interests you helps a lot.. I found that I LOVE road biking, so now I have two quality road bikes. during the winter I go to spin.. swim, and crossfit..

Too much exercise + not enough calories = weight gain :(
Chrystee replied to Kthump's topic in Fitness & Exercise
What kind of exercise? You say steps, but what's your heart rate. You should try to get your heart rate up to around 70-80% max a few times a week.. You get used to the same exercise (i.e. walking) -
I currently crossfit, run, bike, and swim.. I'm wondering how long i'll have to take a hiatus.. my Doctor recommended 2 weeks no lifting, then weeks 3-4 light, and then said I should be able to be back to where I was before (or at least close). I don't want to lose any of my gains, so I'm working to stay on my workouts until the day before surgery.

if you were able to run a whole 5k, I'd encourage you to keep running, btw.. just slow your roll.
-
The Couch to 5k app is wonderful! Love it. I've been on week 2 for a few weeks.. lol. I used it before and got to running a 5k years ago.. so yes, it gets easier, and its the hardest thing for me to do regarding cardio.. meaning, my heart rate gets higher.. and you rarely see a fat consistent runner..

Do you tell people you had Weight Loss Surgery?
Chrystee replied to nolongerhere's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I told some close friends.. but a got a few rude comments and drama.. so I'm keeping it to myself now. My husband and family, and a couple close friends know. I'm not telling work, not telling anyone else. maybe once I lose a chunk of weight, maybe I'll tell some others. -

Chrystee replied to quayle71's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said they want us walking every day post surgery, that I should be back to same cardio at about 2 weeks, and light lifting.. and heavy lifting and crossfit at 4 weeks. -

Good point.. I also belong to soulcysters, and if you have PCOS, you really do need to follow a lower carb diet to maintain it. -

There is TONS of stuff on the web that you can look at for free to tell you what to do.. seriously.. you can look at youtube for form, but the biggest thing is to lift heavy weights.. do some cardio.. do that every day. -

I think a lot of us see the same excuses that we told ourselves before deciding on surgery. -

I have PCOS too, and you are eating more than you describe in your post. I'm sorry, but it is true. I'm active, I go to crossfit, I run, I bike, I spin.. but I eat too much food.. Too many carbs, and too much sugar. When I lower my carbs, watch my calorie intake, i lose. Slowly, but I do. My problem is I eat too much and am always 'hungry'. I'm hoping the tool of the sleeve will help my portion problem. -

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I actually lost 10 pounds on my cruise! I think cause I ate healthy, and i had more to think about than eating. -

I've always noticed everything we do is centered around food.. esp. where I live.. there isn't too much "to do" except go out to dinner.. Any time I've been successful at losing weight, I felt lonely cause I stopped going to as many social functions, cause they all are centered around drinking and eating. -
Tingling scalp with high intensity/interval training?
Chrystee replied to Ava324's topic in Fitness & Exercise
With endorphins, it almost feels high. I do get a headache after also, cause my body/brain just isn't as used to getting endorphins that way. -

100 lbs down and the unfortunate random things I've learned plus a few NSVs!
Chrystee replied to KeeWee's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I haven't had my surgery yet.. but I have a story about jealousy.. My best friend sat me down and said to me, you have to do something about your weight.. so I took those words to heart.. I started upping my workouts and counting calories, I lost 30 pounds... I used to post my workouts on facebook.. eventually, she told me (cause she had lost 60 pounds after having a baby, but was always slim) that I was stealing her thunder.. that all she had was her weight loss and I was taking that away from her.. I was really shocked.. hadn't she just sat me down a few months ago and said, hey, do something about your weight? Then it was about my husband and my faith.. so, yea, people are hating on you and you don't even know it, and when your life lines up and theirs doesn't, they hate you even more..
