Nine days post-op and Gaining Weight HELP!
Chrystee replied to VSG_Hopeful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, that's really strange.. plateaus happen.. usually when I plateau, I will bounce up and down 2ish pounds. Right now I'm in my 3 month stall, and bouncing between 259-261 for a week and a half. Make sure you are getting your liquids in.. up your Water intake.. -
diet 80% and exercise 20% or is it ?
Chrystee replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I will say that.. when my exercise routine is off.. so is my eating (at least pre-op) and vice versa.. when my eating was off, so was my exercise.. they go hand in hand mentally, for me. -
CrossFit and Sleeve surgery
Chrystee replied to ama2414's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I crossfit.. I had to take a 2 week break from heavy exercise, and a 4 week break from lifting heavy. I had surgery in March, and I exercise heavy, but I haven't really officially went back to crossfit (for other reasons: $$) but I still lift when I can.. -
I had to break from serious working out for 2 weeks and weightlifting for 4 weeks. I was jogging 3-4 days post surgery.. (sleeve). I didn't tell them. I told two friends about it.

A little over two years out and thrown right back into my fat days...
Chrystee replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
I thought the same thing.. I doubt he intentionally meant to embarrass you and some people don't know when to drop it.. I'm sorry! -
3 months out, and I'm ecstatic. Wish I had done it years ago, NO regrets. Everything went perfect and I'm adjusting.. Yes, I still have to watch my diet/carbs.. still exercise like a fiend.. but at least I can finally lose weight.

Will we have to low carb for ever?
Chrystee replied to ladivaluz806's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions

Yes, low carb. Carbs should include veggies and low glycemic fruit. I would cut Pasta, breads, and crackers.

I try to keep my carbs under 50/60 grams a day, and those mostly come from vegetables, some fruit, and very rarely potatoes.

My surgeon told me its highly debated among Doctors because they really don't know why some people cannot handle much carbs, and others can eat carbs all day (and stay thin). I'm pretty active and having any type of bread/flour/pasta carbs will stall me.
-
diet 80% and exercise 20% or is it ?
Chrystee replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I will say that when I weight lift, my loss kind of slows down.. when I workout less/or just do my cardio, my weight loss kind of speeds up.. but that is ok to me, cause I want the muscle. I have friends who only dieted, no exercise till later.. -
diet 80% and exercise 20% or is it ?
Chrystee replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Nah, I truly believe diet is 80-90%. I've always worked out a lot.. I only have lost when I ate what I was supposed to do. -
The dumbest diet you tried?
Chrystee replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
HCG and Nutrisystem.. although, I didn't mind the NS food. It tasted ok to me.. it was just so expensive. -
Does anyone know how many calories you burn doing hot yoga?
Chrystee replied to OKCPirate's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I normally do yoga on my rest days.. Otherwise, I'd do the cardio prior to the class.. you want to relax. -
What healthy protein snacks do you have?
Chrystee replied to VDB's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Scrambled eggs, avocados, deli meats, white fish, egg drop soup, greek yogurt. -
Probably 2 or 3 weeks I had to lay on my back/side, until I was healed enough for it to be comfortable.

Does anyone know how many calories you burn doing hot yoga?
Chrystee replied to OKCPirate's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Probably not as much as you think.. yoga, and hot yoga is awesome, but i mostly sweated during a 90 minute class.. I burned around 400 calories.. as opposed to about 800 if i was biking.. but it was a good stretch. Try wearing a heart rate monitor. -
Weight loss can be mentally draining so I...

Rest days? -
People are going to talk! Let them... you have no control over what they say and what they think.. I was over 300 pounds. I did go to the gym. I biked, I ran.. I swam, I went to crossfit.. I couldn't lose the weight.. I tried diets.. I was paleo, I did a whole 30.. I tried not to eat carbs, I ate high Protein.. I was tired of "trying" for the past 34 years to lose weight.. I needed help.. If people JUDGE me for finally saying, I need help to get healthy and lose weight, and live more years.. then so be it.. EFF them. Most people are judging you cause you are fat anyway! BTW, call her on her bs. You told her that no one else knows.. that didn't give her permission to tell your secret.. but now you know who not to talk to. Don't let her put that on you.

Weight loss can be mentally draining so I...
Chrystee replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My friend was weight training for a body building competition (she was a gastric bypass patient, now 5 years out).. Her trainer had her on higher calories, cause she was obviously burning.. but she gained weight. It went against everything her trainer knew.. but remember when you've been 3-400 pounds, I just don't believe our bodies are "normal".. Have you tried cycling your calories or cycling your carbs? If you really are burning all these calories, you MAY need to increase calories.. but I would caution you to be careful. -
Can you give me a few tips on meals? I'm trying to add more calories but I am at a loss of healthy foods. chicken, Fish, avocado, steamed veggies, eggs, cheese sticks, olives, deli meat (watch sodium)..

I'm a little over 2 months post-op. I don't eat much so I know I'm under 1,000 cals. I'm hitting close to 75-100 protein n yes, I've discovered potato chips ( I wasn't too big about them pre op) Yes I exercise daily. My scale isn't moving but I know I'm shrinking be cuz clothes aren't fitting but I want to see the numbers.. I track everything.. every bite of chips.. What are your carb counts.. Carbs should be low, protein high. Drop the chips.. Drop the juice.. too much sugar.. You could also be in a stall, they will happen.. but definitely watch those carbs/sugar.

Will Sleeving (losing weight) make the workouts easier, or at least less painful?
Chrystee replied to Rhodes's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Yes, I've always been active, but not able to go as hard as I want to.. but after sleeve, and losing 50 pounds.. I can do it. -
Am I the only one who regrets their Sleeve?
Chrystee replied to banksdea's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Crazy.. I did have some depression while waiting for my surgery.. but since I had it, I'm totally the opposite.. I feel AMAZING. I can run! I can bike faster than I used to.. I can be active.. Keep at it.. you will be able to eat more eventually.. Take this time to continue to change your habits.. I spent TEN years thinking about this surgery. I could lose 50 pounds during a year, but I always gained it back, plus a little.. I'm finally at the smallest weight of my adulthood that I can remember. I eat good food.. high quality, delicious food. -

congrats! Try to keep your protein level high, and carbs on the lower side (no processed) and your weight should stay relatively stable!
