That was me! Yes, I try to understand.. my mom says the same thing.. 50+ age men have serious issues.. she also is very active and lost a lot of weight, and a lot of them men her age aren't interested in working out.. she doesn't want to be with someone who wants to only go out to eat all the time either, cause she doesn't want to gain weight back.. My Mom's problem (not really problem) is that she is looking for THE ONE, and gets SO emotionally invested when she finds a reasonably attractive guy who has a job, etc.. She also has some personality issues (that she is going to therapy for) but she isn't outgoing.. doesn't have a very positive attitude, etc.. She has no idea who to casually date around to find a guy worth it. But I get that its hard. I just feel so bad for her because it is depressing her. I'm 57 and spent the last 20 years focusing on myself, my family, and my friends. When I decided to jump back into the dating pool, I made sure I didn't look for the ONE, or look for someone to complete me. When you do that, if you don't find someone, yes...depression and feelings of unworthiness can set in. Your mom has to value herself more than anything or anyone else. Then, and only then, can she find someone who compliments her...and not 'completes' her...which is a dumb movie quote anyway...and not real life. PS: I am currently with someone I met five months ago who is fitting that bill just as I had hoped. I enjoy his company immensely but if things don't work between us, I'll cry (maybe) and get back up and go on because I still have a great and full life. That's what mom has to realize. That's the biggest issue. She has 0 self esteem. She thinks she needs big boobs and needs to be younger to attract a man.. I can't help her with that.

When you are too big to manage your period...
Chrystee replied to Katsitsyahawe's topic in The Gals' Room
Sounds like you may have PCOS, a hormonal condition, that makes it harder to lose weight too. I would look online and see if you can get the pads they have for hospitals for after having a baby.. they are much bigger than reg. pads, and cover a bigger area. I used to have such a hard time at my biggest, so I understand. Once you have surgery, you may notice your period becoming much more regular (and you will have a much higher percentage chance of getting pregnant. -

No Wonder I Wasn’t Skinny!
Chrystee replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My Grandmother influenced my Mother as well as myself. She grew up through the depression, so my Grandmother made a lot of bready foods.. chicken and dumplings, bean Soup.. these are some of my favorites. My Mom was a teen Mom and my grandma raised me for awhile when she was in boot camp.. I also had to clean my plate.. when I was 2/3.. I never force my kids to eat.. and I never make them eat everything. I give them small portions to start with. -
No menopause, but YES I am cold ALL the time now! I have to sleep with long sleeves and socks on! Wondering if this will pass? Anyone having issues with hair loss? I know its normal, and I've been taking the Biotin daily, just wondering when it will pass, and if anyone is on the other side of this issue yet? I had the hair loss around the 3-4 month mark, and it has ended for me. Now I'm waiting for all the baby hair to grow in. I did have surgery in August though for gallbladder removal, so I'm hoping I don't go through it again! Yes! Its moving much slower than before though.. seems like getting to 100 is taking awhile!

Bummed and angry
Chrystee replied to OctoberRust127's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
These are all normal thoughts. I was also REALLY angry and depressed right before surgery (about 1-2 months before) I was also anxious.. as soon as I had surgery, was released and felt normal again, I was good to go. -

How much protein and calories are you getting in every day? how about fluids? -
I go to Worlds Gym.. which is 24 a month for me, and I can go to any gym, so unfortunately, it isn't really a benefit to me. But at least someone can use it!

3 weeks after surgery and I can eat anything
Chrystee replied to raeraeway's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I would call my surgeon.. At this point, your stomach isn't even healed yet. -
I just want to give you big hugs.. it can be hard out there. I can understand, because my Mom is 51, got divorced a few years ago, then was in a not so great relationship for 5 years, and now is single, and she is having a really hard time finding someone. She is not a super bubbly fun person, and was overweight a long time, now she is skinny and still has a hard time. I think she thought losing all the weight would make her instantly attractive, but she's having a hard time.. I'm not saying you are like her in any way, but I felt like I could feel the same things she has been saying and venting about sounds very similar to what you were. I would highly suggest a counselor. She found one because she sort of picks the same men, and wanted to find out why she does. Her counselor has given her great advice on how to find men, how to react to the games people play, etc.. It can be hard to feel like you gave up comfort foods for nothing.. but your health is worth it too!

It's pretty easy to eat low carb/dairy free. I have a hectic life style and usually manage it well -

I know church is important, but fasting isn't really good for us.. Unless its just fasting from certain items. You need to keep your blood sugar on an even keel, and going too long without food can actually not be great for your body.. it could be causing you to snack, or feel more hungry than usual. Bloated belly could be several things.. sugar.. wheat.. dairy.. -
Perhaps you have a certain type or look you are attracted to. Unless you have sought them out for a date or whatever, I wouldn't let it bother you.

This past month was my worst loss so far. 2 pounds.

Maybe I should not have surgery?
Chrystee replied to Jangy03253's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I'm confused.. which baby needs care while you are recovering? Your grandbaby or your baby? If its just your grandbaby, can't their parent find alternate care for a week or two? -
In need of some tough love and inspiring comments :)

How old are your kids? I have a rambunctious 2 year old and an 8 year old. Take them on the walk with you! If one doesn't walk, then throw them in a stroller and go.. walking and running are good for them too. Mine exercise with me and love it! -
How many if you lost weight during preop?
Chrystee replied to baileyj908's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do the 6 month diet. I lost nothing. I wasn't required to lose a number/percentage of weight. Edited to add that I also had to do the 2 week liquid pre-op and lost 11 pounds on that. -
Beautiful! Congrats!
