  1. We talk a lot about dieting and burning off fat, but we actually have a lot of misconceptions about weight loss. Some people think fat is converted into energy or heat—a violation of the law of conservation of mass—while others think that the fat is somehow excreted or even converted to muscle. I was told early on that you can never lose your fat cells (adipose) once you gain them...they just shrink if you work it off. When you lose weight, you exhale your fat. There is surprising ignorance and confusion about the metabolic process of weight loss, The correct answer is that most of the mass is breathed out as carbon dioxide. It goes into thin air. Excess carbs and Proteins are converted into chemical compounds called triglycerides (which consist of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen) and then stored in the lipid droplets of fat cells. To lose weight, you’re attempting to metabolize those triglycerides, and that means unlocking the carbon that’s stored in your fat cells. Losing 10 kilograms of human fat requires the inhalation of 29 kilograms of oxygen, producing 28 kilograms of carbon dioxide and 11 kilograms of Water. That’s the metabolic fate of fat. Turns out, our lungs are the primary excretory organ for weight loss. What remains becomes water, which is excreted in urine, feces, sweat, breath, tears, and other bodily fluids.
  2. Most of the people that choose to have their procedures done in Mexico are "self-pay" patience. If your insurance does not cover the procedure in the US, your only other choice would be to pre-pay, and you can get the same procedure done in Mexico for anywhere from 1/3 to 1/4 of the cost to do it here in the US. Not to mention there are very reputable facilities in Mexico.

It's so WEIRD not looking fat.

@@LipstickLady It puts a smile on my face everytime I see a recent picture of you. It gives me real hope that I will one day actually see my goal weight. Although I am just shy of 4 months post op, I'm finally starting to see the difference in my weight loss. Pictures are a wonderful thing. Thanks for everything you do, and the wonderful person you are. You are and will continue to be my motivation. Love you to LIFE, J!
  4. I just finished reading a couple of posts and I couldn't do anything but say to myself, "Seriously? Really?" I know there are going to be some people that will probably what to take my head off for this one, but I just have to ask... Are there really people that frequent this website that are so weak-minded and sensitive that they can be absolutely devastated and sent into an uncontrollable bout of depression over something someone wrote in a thread? If someone that you don't know, have never met, and they know nothing about you, can cause such an emotional reaction in you, I personally think that you don't even need to be considering WLS at this point. You really should be seeking out the services of a therapist to figure out what makes you give away your personal power to a complete stranger. I hear people say how "mean" some people are, and how rude others are. People are only to you what you allow them to be, and they can only take control of the power you give them. I have never testified that I know everything about everything, but to the contrary I'm not dumb as a box of rocks! Bottom line, stop letting the things these people on this site upset you, or even get your dander up. You never know, they may come here just to see what type of drama they can get started. If you find something of value to you, keep it and cherish it. All the rest of this mess is nothing but chatter. This post may not have been directly toward you, but if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that b i t c h up and wear it.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

@@Cleo's Mom Sorry angry lady you know nothing about me, you can't read my mind, yet you continue to insist that you know exactly what I'm thinking and how I feel. I'm not angry at all. You sound like a small child that is pissed off because they couldn't get their way. Keep on entertaining the people who continue to follow this thread, but I'm done with you. I'm not going to stoop to your level. You and your desparate attempts to bait me into going back and forth with you have now become quite boring.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

It sure sounds to me like Cleo's Mom just hasn't been getting nailed on a regular basis. There is an awful lot of anger and hostility in those posts. And yes, I'm still sitting here laughing at you. Your negative attacks on me are hilarious. You really don't have a clue as to how stupid you are making yourself look. You really missed your calling. You should have been a comedian. I know you are certainly keeping a lot of people on this thread entertained.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

That is a good question. I think the OP of this thread should tell us the person(s) to whom she was referring when she started the post so that person of persons can at least defend themselves. I find it absolutely hypocritical that you of all people would actually want me to tell you who I was referring. After ASSuming that you knew who and what I was referring to. At least whoever I was referring to doesn't know that I was referring to them, so they can't be hurt any further by my so called "rude" and "nasty" comments. But no…. you want to know who it is so they can defend themselves…. SERIOUSLY? REALLY? Your comment is just another example of posts that I real that make me say EXACTLY what I said in my original post. What a hypocrite you are. And just for the record, I'm NOT going to tell you who I was referencing. What someone doesn't know won't hurt them, they don't know and you don't know either! Time for you to move on to something else!

    My pooch is gross

Sounds to me like you've just hit the dreaded "first stall". Most people will experience this a few times during their journey. Your body just has to catch up and realize that you're not trying to starve yourself, so it won't try to hold on to every ounce of fat/energy that you have. My first stall lasted 5 weeks. Be patient. You will start losing again.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

WOW.... It's amazing how I've been called all kinds of names by some of the posters here, as well as been accused of some pretty nasty things. To those people I say, "I'm so glad that you know me so well that you know what I'm thinking...YOU'RE WRONG! Next, who died and made you all Gods that you know how everything is supposed to work?....WRONG AGAIN! As has been mentioned previously, it seems that more of the "haters" of my OP have been the ones seeking attention. I said what I said and left it at that. And lastly... with every name I've been called, and everything wrong that I supposedly have done, I think I'll go sit in the corner, cry, and wallow in my own pity party..... DEFINITELY WRONG!!! Now when you can remind me again which one of my bills you'll be paying this month, maybe I'll care what you think or feel. But until that time comes.... FRANKLY SCARLET, I DON'T GIVE A DAMN!!!
  16. I know that those of us who have already had VSG surgery go through the ups and downs of how much weight should I have lost by now, do people see me any differently when they look at me, why can't I see much of a change. A very dear friend of mine told me when I first started my journey to be sure to take pictures, take pictures, and take more pictures. This would be the way you can really tell how much thinner you are getting, and how much your body has actually changed because when we look in the mirror, we so many time still see the fat person we were before surgery because our minds haven't caught up with our bodies yet. I know that I still have quite a ways to go, but putting my pictures side-by-side today, I could actually see a BIG difference, and it made me feel really good. So if you are feeling like a Debbie Downer, and questioning whether or not you did the right thing, hopefully you have pictures of yourself you can go back and compare. Put them side-by-side, and I guarantee it will put a smile on your face. I also want to give a big shout out to a few ladies who have been nothing but positive influences on me during this journey, and I'm only 3 months post op! Thanks and much love to @@LipstickLady , @@bobbyswife , @@Elode , @@proudgrammy , @RJ'S/beginning , and @@Kindle .
