Asking for video of your own surgery

I think this would be very cool to see my own surgery. I don't think they do that at my surgical facility.

    I GOT APPROVED!

Congratulations!!! I know how you feel as I just got approved on Friday. It took them less than 48 hours after my paperwork was submitted to give me an approval. My surgeon's office is supposed to call me with a confirmed date as well. My dummy date is December 16th, and I can't wait to find out what my real date will be. Best of luck of your new journey!

    Surgeon date

You need to check with your insurance company first to find out what their requirements are in order to be approved for surgery. I'm not sure about Toronto, but here in the states the process usually takes 4-6 months. Wishing you the best of luck!

    Eating problems

Hi Brenda and welcome to BP. I know exactly how you feel and my saving grace was WATER! I decided that I was going to start drinking a TON of Water. I know drink 122 oz. of water everyday! It was really hard at first and you definitely pee a lot, but after a few days my hunger and my cravings really started to decrease. I also started trying all different kinds of Protein. There are so many flavors and combinations that you can create that you could spend the next few months just trying to figure out what you like and don't like. Check out this thread http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/323028-protein-powder-recommendations/ We started talking about this a little while ago, and you'll find some great ideas and different combinations. Best of luck to you in your journey, and check these boards everyday if you can. There are a lot of wonderful people here that will gladly share their experiences with you and answer any questions you might have. Oh, and one other thing..... Stay Prayerful!!!
  6. My surgeon's office submitted my paperwork on Wednesday (2 months early) to see if I could get approved. I have completed all my pre-op requirements for insurance, except I am supposed to have 6 months of supervised diet visits with the doctor, and I only have 4. My surgeon's office just called me and said I GOT APPROVED!!!! Now I want to jump up and down and scream H A L L E L U J A H!!! I already had a tentative date for December 16th, but they are going to call me on Monday to confirm a solid date, and maybe even be able to get me in for surgery sooner! OMG!!!! It's really going to happen!!!!!!

    Insurance run around

@@GoGoNiner One thing that you're going to need to learn quick, fast, and in a hurry is PATIENCE! This pre-op journey will try every nerve that you have, but you must keep your eye on the prize! Don't set yourself up for major letdowns or crash and burns. Realize that this is something that will come with some time and patience as long as you stick with it. Be sure to read these boards everyday if possible. There are a lot of wonderful people here that will keep you motivated and positive! Best of luck to you my dear…. Michelle

I can't believe how many great tips and ideas that I've gotten from reading everyone else's posts. This has been a very long time coming, and I truly want to do everything I can to make this as successful as possible. Michelle

    OK, Now I'm EXCITED!

@Ladiec2 I have United Healthcare Community of Maryland. At my 4 month visit (insurance required 6) I had all of my pre-op requirements for both the insurance company and my doctor completed except for the last 2 months of supervised diet visits. During that appointment my doctor mentioned how stupid it was they everything was done and the only thing I had left was to come visit her 2 more times. She said we should submit it early and see what happened. She and I both felt it would more than likely be denied, but what the heck was it going to hurt to give it a shot. So we did! And lo and behold, less than 48 hours after they submitted my paperwork, I got approved, 2 months early! Nothing beats a failure but a try!

    United Health

@ngoycoanaya@gmail.com I also have UHC of Maryland. I had to have all of the normal stuff, 6 months recorded diet visits with doctor, sleep study, endoscopy, NUT visit, Psych eval, blood work, EKG. I completed all of the requirements within the first 4 months of my doctor visits. Two days ago, my doctor decided to go ahead and submit my paperwork 2 months early just to see if I could get approved. My doctor felt that I would not get approved, and I had also heard that UHC was very strict on their pre-op requirements, but it was worth a shot. Just a little while ago, (less than 48 hours later) I got a call from my surgeon's coordinator saying she just got off the phone with the nurse from my insurance company, and they APPROVED me! I am so excited, and its finally going to happen. Don't let anything that anyone says slow you down, discourage you, or get you down. If this is something you really want, and you truly believe you are ready for it, then GO FOR IT!!! I wish you the best of luck as you go through this pre-op journey!
  13. I think between now and the actual day of my surgery, I'm going to have a few ups and downs.

    Motivational changes early on

My biggest suggestion to you would be to take 1 day at a time, and if that seems to hard right now take 1 hour at a time. You have to do something consistently for a while in order to build a habit. Try not to stress yourself out about it. Have you considered journaling? I found it amazing how I changed my perspective on a lot of things from writing down how I was feeling at a particular time, and then later going back and reading it. Just something to consider.
  19. @Chrys2L I also have UHC. They have been really helpful whenever I call them asking questions. I too am required to do 6 months, and my last appointment is scheduled for December 9th. So my surgeon is trying to get authorization now so that I don't have to wait until next year to have my surgery. I now just have to wait for UHC to give me the final thumbs up!
  20. @bikrchk It is so funny that you say that because I was just thinking about visiting some of my favorite online clothing stores to see what kinda of cool stuff that I'll be able to wear one day soon, that I normally wouldn't even bother to look at. Thanks for putting a smile back on my face. Now I just need to get my attitude adjusted.
  21. @SBovee Thanks so much! I don't think my somberness is relatedly in any way to my separation from food. I've been cutting back on the amount of food that I've been eating for some time now, and I really don't feel like I'm being deprived anymore. I'm starting to think that maybe it has something to do with the fact that although I have a date, I don't have that FINAL go ahead yet. I just want to be happy and excited again.
  22. @jessiquoi Thanks for the words of encouragement and the big hug! The pre-op support group that I am attending tonight is actually taught by my psychologist at the hospital center. Hopefully something will be said that will bring the spark back.
