@@Madmax68 Surgery tomorrow!!! WOOOHOOO!! That is so exciting! Good luck to you!
-
So I have surgery in 6 days! I had my pre-op yesterday and they did blood testing to figure out what my blood type was and a urine test to make sure I am not pregnant. I figured since I am on my period this week that it would be a pretty straight answer, but I understand them wanting to be sure. Which let me tell you.. The universe is getting back at you for something if you go on your period the same time you are on a liquid diet. I seriously do not know how I am able to interact with people without losing it!!
-
I have my preop on Monday! Sounds like they take blood, urine, and talk through the procedure. Anyone know what they are testing for?
-
@@judi48 I am on day 4 of 14. It is hard but just remember we are so close to that surgery finish line. We can do this!
-
I know it seems impossible. I am on liquid diet day 4, it is a little rough. You mind tells you that you need to eat. But you need to find a shake you really like, get a ton of jello, and get some bouillon for you broth. I promise you that it is way worse thinking about it than the actual diet. It will be so worth it in the end!!

@@cassie_vsg I know this sounds extreme but go on a liquid diet. Sugar free jello, broth, protein shakes, 1 protein bar a day. This is my diet I have to be on for my surgery and I have lost 4lbs in 2 days! It will make you a little nuts the idea of not eating but it will help you drop the lbs you need to.

Well day 1 was fun..... So I ended up trying a hot chocolate protein drink and it was really good. The vanilla shakes are from the devil I swear.. I have also tried a chocolate and a mocha protein drink and they are really good. I added bouillon to my broth and it makes it taste even better. I am still loving my jello! I did end up have a couple bites of a steak tip. I was so friggen hungry. But now that I have found the right protein drinks and the right way to eat the little that I can I feel much better. I got this!!

So for my surgery I have to go on a two week liquid diet. This consist of sugar free jello, broth, sugar free popsicles (which who doesn't want these in the middle of winter), protein shakes, and 1 protein bar a day. My first protein shake I made was vanilla. The consistency and smell made me gag, no gonna lie. So I doubled the water and I think it is watered down enough for me to handle. I am taking a sip of it and chasing it with water. I am on my second sugar free jello which (oddly enough) not that filling. I know it sounds like I am whining...because I am. BUT I feel like venting it out on my blog is better than taking it out of someone else around me. I have chopped my protein bar into three pieces so I can have one with breakfast lunch and dinner. I feel like this way I can "eat" something with each meal. It is only 10:30 but I am already looking forward to my broth.

3 Months post-op - some diet questions
Spicy06 replied to gmacy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your weight loss! That is awesome. I am not sure about the veggies, but I was told by my doctor that going forward I could only take Tylenol...period. I would check with your provider. -
Hubby doesn't understand!

I am very lucky because my significant other and I work different shifts. So I get home and I am alone. I do not have to worry about anyone cooking around me and smelling the food. So for that I am truly thankful. He is very good to me and is keeping my favorite snack foods in the car so I don't see them lol! We talked about when we are together on the weekends that I will go into the bedroom when he cooks so it won't tempt me and I won't take my anger out on him! -
8 days post-op and MISERABLE
Spicy06 replied to twinhappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With this many issues I would call your doctor's office and let them know what is going on. They are there to help! Hope you feel better! -
I am on day 2 of my liquid diet. It is rough but I know I need to keep it up so I can get my surgery. I saw someone post that they do not like broth. I tried plain chicken broth and I gagged a little. But I added chicken bouillon to it and it makes it 100 times better!
-
@@judi48 I have heard that Gas-X can help with that. I am lucky I have not had that issue yet. What else are you allowed to eat/drink?
-
I cannot have pudding. I can have sugar free jello though and that has been awesome. I did try a hot chocolate protein shake and that was awesome. I told my boyfriend he is welcome to the vanilla ones!! LOL. Thanks for the advice!!
-
I have a hot chocolate protein drink and it is much better than this mornings. I have been reading everyone's posts and it sounds like you are all doing great!!

I started my liquid diet today.... The protein shakes are making me gag a little..not going to lie. I diluted them with water which is making it a little easier to take in. It will be a long 2 weeks but it will totally be worth it!
-
I am starting my liquid diet on Monday. Not going to lie...pretty nervous... I just hate the idea of being so hungry two week before and after my surgery. BUT I am totally willing to do it if it means I will be a healthier me!! I am so pumped for the surgery!!

@@sassycas45 Girl I hear ya! We don't really have a choice and in the end it will be worth it. But man.. this is the part I am not looking forward to.
-
Awesome! That is where I get my Calcium chewy Vitamins from! I will have to take a look at those. Thanks Stacy!

So I have to say I am not nervous about the surgery..at all. What I am nervous about is the liquid diet. For two weeks prior to surgery I am limited to broth, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles, one protein bar a day, and protein drinks. My best friend went through this and she was starving. I am not looking forward to this part at all. I feel like this is going to make the two weeks prior just drag on. After my surgery I will be back on the liquid diet for 2 more weeks but I will not be allowed to eat the protein bar. Anyone else nervous about this?

I have the same issues with my lower back, hips and knees. I am so excited that hopefully by losing weight I can get rid of some if not all the pain I have been in! One more reason to have the surgery.

@@stacy458 What protein drinks are you drinking? I am always interested in trying something else!
