I have been banded about 2 1/2 years, I have had great success! I would do it all over again if I had to. I have only had minimal problems since the surgery. My issue now is that progressively i have had problems with it being very tight during that time of the month! It has always been a little tighter during this time even since the beginning but lately probably I would say the last 6 months it has been "very tight" during this time to the point I have had unfills because it gets so bad! I am currently unfilled completely because last month it completely closed on me where I couldn't even swallow my own saliva! and at that point I only had .8cc in it anyway!! So my questions to anyone is if this has happened to you or is this just my dumb body and will I be like this forever now! Is there some suggestions on a fix, at this point I would try anything. I am unfilled and scared of gaining weight back again! So any info would be greatly appreciated. Carrie:help:

Hi I have been banded Since august of 2005, I have had no problems unitl now, and I haven't really done anything different to cause the problem that I am having now but I am really scared of a slip or something is wrong, can anyone tell me what symptoms you have with a gall bladder problem, and could this feel like pain coming from your band, I started getting sever reflux about three weeks ago and about a week ago I just have discomfort in my abdomin( no spell ) anyway it doesnt feel like anything I have felt before as far as getting something stuck and PBing it is just very uncomfortable and it usually starts to hurt a little while after I get done eating but not pain like overeating or getting stuck just like a maybe burning feeling and some discomfort in my chest like tightness, I was just trying to convince my self that this could (hope) be mu gallbladder of something other than my band soes anyone have any thoughts on this, I do have an appointment on Monday to see my band DR. becasue I was concerned about the reflux. but I can't get this off of my mind I am soooooo worried, I don't want it to be my band!!!! I have worked so hard at this. I have been reading threads and can't seem to find any on gallbladder symtoms. and I forgot to add that the pain radiates to my back between my shoulder blades and if I take deep breathes this seems to relieve the pain for a short period of time but it will come back any help would be nice thanks!

I just wanted to let you know that the problems I was having were due to my band being slipped! It has been slipped due to the problems I have been having for prob a year but just getting worse! I did have my band replaced about 12 days ago and am feeling pretty good!

hey everyone, Its been awhile since I've posted but I am having some concerns and I thought I might call on "ol faithful" my LBT support group for some advise!!! I woke up the other morning with a lump in my throat it flet like a big wad of bubble gum in my throat, didnt really hurt but it was hard to swallow and it was actually even gagging me sort of really scared me, in about the area of where my tonsils USED to be, anyway so I went to the DR. to see if he thought it might be my tonsil growing back and inflamed or what! well he had never seen anything like this and wasnt sure what it was but did say it looked like a piece of a tonsil, he did a rapid strep test which was negative and said if it wasnt better in a few days he would send me to a ENT, "long story I know but I am getting to the point here soon I promise" since then which has been about a week my throat feels really weird when I swallow almost like it has closen up a little and is kind of sore when I swallow I have heard that you can get some esophagus problems with the band and I am scared something is wrong, should I call my band doc, or has anyone experienced anything of this sort! your input would be helpful!!

I just thought that I would let you know the problems I was having were because I had a 4cc band that sliped and I have been having problems ever since I posted this and I had a band replacement 12 days ago and I am feeling pretty good!

Well I am about 12 days out from my reband surgery, I did find out last week that I have since developed a hernia from one of my insicion sites which hurts like @#$! I will have to have another surgery to repair this now but other than the pain I have from this area which is constant I feel pretty ok! the swelling has gone down and I am now able to eat pretty much anything soft, My new band is a 12cc band and it is empty but I have yet to gain any more weight so far I was wondering when I can get my first fill? I do have a po check on thursday to evaluate the hernia and to sched surgery so hopefully I can get a fill and start using this new band!

Hi there I was REBANDED on feb 27, 2008 and I too feel lousy not very hungry!! I think this is normal I had a slipped band that was replaced with a new and improved bigger band so I am excited to get the rest of this weight off! I am still on liquids but I have a patch for nausia did you get one of those?

I was also REbanded on the 27th of Feb and I have not ate anything since monday the 25 of feb due to a slip and I thought I would have lost some weight by not eating but I still weight the same so dont get discouraged it will come just give it t ime.

Hi there I was rebanded due to a slipp on the same day as you! So it is like starting over and because the first time was 3 years ago it feels like starting all over, I too have the same pain on my side that I have chalked up to gas also. But it does seem to get better a little each day! I had the smaller band the first time so it was always tight the one he put in this time is the bigger band so I am able toget more down at this stage and maybe because I already had the band its less tight at this point than you r is because it is initally placed keep in touch with me and we will get better together!!

Hi there I am in Pueblo I was banded initially aug/05 and then rebanded due to a slip 4 days ago! Dr, James Smith is my doctor! Anyone out there in Pueblo want to chat.

I had the 4cc band until 3 days ago which I had a major slippage and he replaced my whole band with a new bigger one he also told me that they dont use the smaller one any more I am also 3 years out from initial banding! If any one has question feel free to ask I am good with sharing my experience so every one is informwe!

I have severe migrain headaches so I am unable to take any kind of birth control!! So that sucks because sounds like that would be a cure!! thanks for the info I have an appointment on Jan 7th to get a fill but I am very concerned that this will happen again!! I have started the lasics though and they seem to help but I am empty so who knows!! i am very scared to gain weight back again though!

Well when I went in about 3 weeks ago with the problem of being completely closed off I think it was a combination of throwing up with the tightness causing swelling that closed it but he suggested that I take lasics about a week before i start to keep the fluid off of me but I have noticed this problem getting increasingly worse over time and it may be just my body getting older and all but I wondered if anyone else had this problem, cause its nice to know this is some what normal ya know!!

Hi there! I am really bad I have not posted in about 6months, I always tell people who inquire about my band to go to this web site and read they will find everything they want to know about it but I also say that most people who are not having problems usually won't post so you will only read about mostly bad things because of that and here I am not posting forever until I am having a problem, and I first apologize for that in advance! Any way I have been banded since Aug 05 and have had no problems what so ever with my band until now. I am having sever reflux it first started at night and has gradually gotten worst in the daytime. So bad that I wake up choking because of the reflux, my chest burns all the time and so does my throat. I do not have a hard time eating or drinking at all it's just the reflux. My band is half full and I haven't had a fill in about a year. I was wondering reading all of your reply's if reflux is related to TIME, if after a certain amount of time being banded does this occur and is it normal? just a thought.

my results are back and the doc says that I have strep throat but I do not have any of the symptoms for it, such as fever chills any thing just the sore(tight feeling throat) so I guess I will take the pills which are horse pills and see if it goes away. Hi all wow what great progress it is so cool to talk to someone who is right there where you are and know exactley what you are going through!! I was banded on 8-5-05 I am down 54 pounds, I haven't had a fill in 2 months and I feel just as restricted as I did when I first got this fill so I think I have found my "sweet spot" so they call it.......lol! anyway its great to be part of this support group keep your chins up and you will succeed!! hey trish how are things going have't heard from you in a while! I was looking at your pictures wow that really freaks me out that this can be giong on inside of you and you not know it .did that freak you out?? I am so worried with all this erosion and slipping and now this what is next and what do you think the odds are for this to happen to any one of us!!! Hi there!! I haven't talked to you in a while I was wondering how you were doing? I'm sorry to here you are having trouble, I have 2.2cc in my 4 cc band and I really didnt start feeling true restriction until after my last fill!! Be patient when you get to a retrictred point ( which will come I promise give it time) you will know it!!! I have had 3 fills to get me where I am today! and I feel great I truly can only eat about a half a cup, sometimes a little more depending on the mood of my band!! lol !!! I haven't had any type of bread or any knid of soda, but I do have the occasional sweets I will not lie! It's just in moderation I am a pink spooner!!!!lol Be patient it will come I promise just get to the proper restriction and you will see!! Trish thanks for the info and my prayers to you.....so when you say biggest meaning heaviest he has done the surgery on? What kind of probelms have you had with him??? I can't believe he poked your port, I was so afraid on my first fill that he was going to poke a hole in mine..........because me port tipped and he could'nt find it, I mean wow 6 pokes and three needles later I was a wreck when I left there that day.....didnt really hurt but was very traumatic laying there for about 4 hours(because he got held over in surgery ) doing a half sit up while he poked and proded at me.....something I will never forget!!! But the bright side of all that was that I now stand for my fills and he finds it on the first shot .....AMEN to that!!!! well I had my surgery done at health sout it is a great place!! May be I will stop ion on ya (if I'm not working that day!! TAlk again soon!! Carrie

hey trish is Dr. Smith doing the surgery..............and what did she mean by "You know how I feel about him" was she referring to Dr. Smith? and are you having that done here in pueblo? wow I can't believe we were both there on the same day...what time? I guess it doesn't matter but next time you will be here give me a ring maybe we can meet! Sorry to hear about your leak.....what does he think caused it? I was really afraid when I got my first fill(which was a nightmare) that for sure he was going to poke a hole in the tubing (I don't see how he didn't) but I am ok and 2 fills later and all is well. See my port is tipped, in fact I have to have my fills standing up in order to be able to find the opening and it works well for me, he always gets it on the first try NOW!!! so good luck with your new port and keep in touch!! Hi all I was banded on Aug 5, 2005 I am a little discouraged I had a fill about three weeks ago and I haven't lost any since the fill I am scheduled for another fill in about 2 weeks but I am sooooooooo nervous about it! My port has tipped and it was so traumatic at that appointment! I was so upset, it took about 6 pokes and 3 needles later before he finally found it! He was pushing so hard that he kept bending those hugh needles! I am so scared to go back but I know that if I don't I will have gone through all of this for nothing! I have lost about 26 pounds so far and have not gained anything back so that is good, I know I need to go back but I am scared! So here is me complaining sorry! but other thatn not losing any more I am doing pretty good and do not regret the band so far! Carrie
