Mercedes Sorry to hear about your troubles! I had my first fill about 3 weeks ago and it was the worst experience of my whole life!!! My port has tipped and he could not locate the opening, to make a long story short with no anesthesia, three needles and 6 pokes later he was able to get in (ouch ) he said he put in 1 cc but it was about a week or so later before I felt anything and then I had a piece of chicken get stuck, cause some swelling and was back on liquids for 48 hours! so now that I am through all of that, I am back to feeling like I did before my fill(no restriction) and needing another (have not lost anything since my fill) but I am scared to go back!! anyways get yourself to TJ and get that fill but don''t worry you will start losing soon I know it!!!Keep your chin up!! I have blue cross blue shield and they paid for my surgery..I just had to give a log on the MANY MANY MANY diets I have tried and boy there was a list!!I didn't have to have documentation when we submitted it, my surgeon just wrote a really good letter stating all of my conditions, all my failed attempts at wieght loss and they covered it tottally!! so keep your chin up and submit that paper work, you will be very surprised I am sure!!! I had a fill a week and a half ago and I too just started to feel different about 3 days ago but now I can hardley eat anything I seems the first 2 bites hurt like hell and then if I wait a little bit I can eat a little more with out pain is this normal I am very concerned with this I have'nt had to pb it back up but I felt pretty close lots of times. I can drink Water or anything with no problem but food just hurts at first is this normal anyone!! I am just worried about slippage Carrie

I am scheduled to have a fill tomarrow, but I have had a problem with eating the last couple of days! I have been able to eat just about anything for about 2 weeks my surjery date was 8/5/05. I have had hardley any restriction and all of a sudden the last 2 days I have had a problem getting food to go down! I am kind of nervous about my appointment tomarrow because if I cancel and this passes then I will be sad I didnt get my fill (first one) because I want to start losing some serious weight but if I do get it I am afraid that I will be to tight! any one experience this?? HELP confused!!!! Carrie

well I went today very reluctant and it was the worst experience of my entire life!!!! My port has tipped and he couldn't find the opening!!! OMG I am so freaked out at the whole experience I know it wasn't his fault but OUCH!!!! I do't want to scare anyone but man that hurt, he didn't numb me but I was stuck a whole bunch of times trying to enter the opening! anyways I hope I actually got a fill because I don't feel much different but I have heard that it may take a couple of days to actually feel it soooooooo! I would hate to go back for a repeat any time SOON!!! thanks for all your support I did need it!! Carrie

Well that has crossed my mind but I am not sure what to do? I guess I will just ask whe I get there what he thinks I have had a few bouts of not actually pb ing becasue I never have but I have had pain a couple of meals so I hope I did not mess anything up! Carrie

I also was banded about 6 weeks ago and I have experienced this after I eat they are kind of a spuratic sharp pain but they don't last very long before I knoe it it is gone I wondered what that was also I thought it was just more healing taking place but not sure ..good question! Carrie

I too was banded about 6weeks ago and I also feel as if everyone is watching everything I put in my mouth! I swear my own spouse acts like I shouldn't eat at ALL he makes me feel so guilty and he doesn't understand about not being filled yet and I am so tired of feeling guilty any time I eat something! I try to explain it to him but it doesn't help I too have lost about 22 lbs w/o a fill and I think that is great but guess not! any ways I know how you feel!! Carrie

hey girl hang in there!! as long as you are feeling good and you are healthy the weight loss will come later just concentrate on healing your body!! Wow I think that is just so crazy that you will have to go all the way to Mexico for a fill also!! does that cost a lot more ...I mean the trip and all? Seems Like it would but that's just me, I live pretty much paycheck to paycheck so I just would'nt have funds for a trip to mexico just like that! I am very good, hanging in there, getting hungrier by the day, counting the days until my fill, when do you get your first fill? I am scheduled for sept 15th! I still get on here and read but don't really have much to talk about I am having no problems and am just plugging along I have lost about 20 lbs so far. I have good restriction one day and the next I can eat what I want it is really a weird thing but I just follow the rules and I get along fine I was just reading your thread about drinking with meals I miss that also! I was a pop drinker but would only have one with my meals and I haven't had a soda in about a month and doing fine with that. How are you getting along? thanks for asking! Carrie

Hi all! had my surgwry on friday aug 5th. It has been a petty rough 2 days everything went great 47 min in surgery I will report a little mor later.....the port sight hurts like hell but as far as everything else is great!!!!

Hi all I am alos 17 days post op and haven't lost much since early on so am so glad I am not alone how is the eating going I have been able to eat just about anything in moderation though I have not had a problem with any food so far but I have not tried bread!

Yes, Dr. Smith is great!! I was banded on Aug 5th, 2005 I have lost 18 lbs so far very excited about my band look forward to losing alot more in the near future! So do you attend the support group in canon that is where I started to go before I got the band, and plan on going here next time they have one well Ill lok forword to talking with ya take care ! I am 10 days post op and have the same concerns you do about knowing when I am hungry but have a hard time about being full! I guess it's just a new band thing the nerves just keep you wondering what you might be doing wrong!! Carrie

Hi all I am in Pueblo, Anyone out there!

Hi all I was banded almost a week ago...tomarrow! I have a question! I feel like I need to burp from when I woke up this morning but can't! I feel as though something may be stuck but I don't think I have ate anything lst night that could get stuck!!! I had some soupy potatoe Soup for dinner at about 5pm! I tried to drink some Water first thing and still have the feeling! I have no pain or no extra saliva it just feels different and I may be a little nascious. Could this just be because some people are tight in the morning? I am pretty nervous at this point and afraid to eat anything for breakfast! Has anyone experienced this ? Help Carrie

Hey mercedes I have felt some of the same symptoms that started this morning! I thought for sure I had something stuck when I woke up , like I needed to burp but could not! a real heavy feeling on my chest I have been nervous all day also!!! It finally supsided at about 4:00pm! I was then able to have a Protein shake! I feel better now but my back was also sore last night! If you read my thread titled stuck in the morning maybe that will help I had alot of good feedback on there. Don't worry I think it is just swelling from the surgery! Carrie

Thanks all I have been able to get in a Protein shake and I am feeling alot better not so tight I will just take it easy the rest of the day my 1 week po check is tomarrow I will keep you informed again thanks fro the support!!! carrie

Thank you, yes I did blend the chunks and no I had it the day before for supper and no problems I have burped some small ones so far through out the day and it has helped a little but still have that feeling there, i have just had water today so far am very nervous about trying anything else I am so afraid of slippage thank yu for your input that was reassuring carrie

Hey mercedes hows it going! sorry for the lack of comunication I tried to write back a couple of times and when I was lmost done I would hit a wrong key and kick me out of the forum and my message was gone it happened to me 2 times so by then I ws tired and just went to bed...anyway what's the update I am still pretty sore at the port site. It feels really great first thing in the morning and by the end of the day it is killing me! I am hardly hungary so far......I have just had cream of wheat, sf pudding, applesauce and some potatoe soup actually I am only taking in about 400 calories a day! I go tomarrow for my 1 week post op check and hopefully will be able to eat more am still pretty scared to death about pbing and vomitting! hope to hear from you soon take care! Carrie

Hi there, I just had mine done on friday the 5th of aug and I know oh so well what you are experiencing. Just thnk it will be so great when it is all said and done......I am sore I will not lie to you but I cansay it has gotten better a littkle every day! I play this little trick on my min I think of the worst it could be and then when its done and it wasnt that bad you are very relieved. You have lots of people praying for you and are behind you 100%. We will keep you on our minds good luck and relax . You will be so happy once it is all done! The waiting is the worst keep your chin up and smile you are on the road to skinnyville.lol oh don't laugh it hurts good luck... Carrie

Great to hear you are doing so well .....up and around I mean! Wow my port hurts pretty bad unable to get up or lay down! But it has improved today a (little) Just taking liquid tylenal but have not taken any today so far!! Yes I am from colorado my Dr. Was James Smith, he is great! My insurance paid for my surgery and I was very greatful for that. So do you have any kids I have 3 12/5/3 I work full time and had to take this week off to sore to go back just yet.I am sooo hungry, have been doing the clear liquid thing now for 3 days I though I would try some real runny cream of wheat tomarrow, maybe some pudding. Just looking for some ideas for liquid stage. You could read lots of things and still not get what you are supposed to be doing at this point can't wait until friday I will be released to the mushy stageWOOOOHOOO! can hardley wait....any who I better get some zzzzzzzzso I will wake up in a little better shape than the day before.......1 day at a time is my motto.
