Any actual long term slow losers out there?
NavyMom2006 replied to bitingcat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Waving my hands wildly here! I am 2 1/2 years post surgery. After my initial 70 lb weight loss (took over a year), I have gained back almost 30. I never made it to below 200 either. I have just joined weight watchers again to help motivate me and help keep me accountable. I need to lose 70 - 80 more pounds to get to my personal goal weight and I'm tired of my knees and back hurting. This is real life so I'm just going to regroup and start again. -
Almost 2 years out and gaining
NavyMom2006 replied to chase888's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh thank God it's not just me!! I'm 2 1/2 years out and have gained too. I think I'm going back to the protein drinks twice a day again as well. And going to stop buying junk. Got to get back to exercising too. Everything I was doing before and after surgery. I think I got too lazy. Strength ladies!! -
Hi All, Happy New Year! Sorry I've been silent for awhile - holidays and work. Hope you all had a great holiday season.

Best of luck!! You sound completely ready for this and having your mom as support will make all the difference in the world. Happy New Year and Happy New You!!

Devastated....
NavyMom2006 replied to CharlotteWebb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@CharlotteWebb - I'm happy to hear your surgery will be covered! I had the sleeve done in September. A friend had the RNY back in April. She's lost almost 100 lbs in 8 months, I've lost almost 40 in 3 - it's a tool and as long as you exercise and follow your doctors suggestions, you'll be great! -
Sick and tired of explaining myself...
NavyMom2006 replied to Stephanie Kandace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All kinds of great advice here. I think you just have to choose what you think will work the best for you in your situation. Good luck and let us know how it goes!! -
I can definitely see a difference in the scale between weeks where I get in at least 3 days at the gym and weeks where I only get there 1 day. If you can even get those 30 minutes of walking in every day, you'll see and feel the difference. Keep up the great work!!!

Water vs. Herbal Tea
NavyMom2006 replied to IcanMakeit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've tried about every drink out there and herbal teas and plain water seem to be my go-to's. -
Depends on your doc. I'm ok with it now, 2 months and a couple of weeks since surgery. There's also Pirates Booty at Trader Joes and Target - puffed corn, no kernels. I'm finding my intolerance for scrambled eggs is starting up with hard boiled as well. Bummer!

How long were you out of work post-op?
NavyMom2006 replied to RedSalamander's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't shoot me anyone - but I was back at work in 5 days, including a weekend. I only missed 3 days of work. I am a widow with a special needs son, so I'm the only one working. Thankfully I was good to go, just a bit tired. -
Eating salads again

I just started after 2 months. Ask your doctor though. -
But... What If I Really Love Food? And Other Questions
NavyMom2006 replied to greatestnameever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was like the Cookie Monster, with fries. I would smack on fries any chance I got. About a month ago, I picked up McD's for my son, and thought, let me try a fry, since I hadn't had one for about 6 weeks. Let me tell you, it was the grossest thing!! It tasted and smelled like grease. I had to spit it out into a napkin and now he has to go get it himself because I can't stand the smell in the car!! You'll be fine - I go out with friends, I usually just order an appetizer or Soup and enjoy my time with everyone. ???? -
How to mentally prepare? Also, what to bring?
NavyMom2006 replied to heynowkc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aranks pretty much summed it all up! -
You know you lost weight when
NavyMom2006 replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When your 80 year old mother sees a picture of you on facebook (yes, she's a facebook user!) and calls to say "you are swimming in those clothes!!!" Guess who's getting gift cards for Christmas?! -
Still 227.

Your Thanksgiving Dinner Game Plan
NavyMom2006 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I had a spoonful of sweet potatoes, a spoonful of mashed, a taste of green bean casserole and about 2 oz of dark meat turkey. Oh yeah, and a half a deviled egg! Enjoyed at immensely and ate slowly, enjoying the family. Even saved room for a sliver of pie later in the evening. Feeling in control and very satisfied. -
Why did you choose VGS instead of Bypass and any regrets.
NavyMom2006 replied to klock's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Looks like I will just mirror what everyone else said as far as not wanting to re-route my intestines, etc.. I have a friend that had RNY in April, 2014 and as of yesterday, she's down about 90 lbs. However, she said she's got quite a bit of loose skin. I was sleeved 9/23/14 and as of yesterday I'm down 30 lbs, but since I'm at the gym several times a week, I'm not noticing any loose skin yet. I'm sure there will be some at some point, I'm just hoping not too much! I was a little concerned with "only" losing 30 lbs in 2 months, but my doctor confirmed that it's probably in large part due to building muscle, which we all know is denser than fat. He's very happy with the slower weight loss, as he feels it will be easier to keep off in the long run. All I know is that my donation pile is growing every week and while I'm still living out of my closet (you know, those clothes we all said we'd get back into "someday"), I'm about ready to go thrift store shopping! Oh, and I have a couple of tops with horizontal stripes that I'm not afraid to wear now!!! So the sleeve has definitely been a blessing for me, and since I had my surgery two days before my birthday, my birthday celebration will take on a whole new meaning from now on!!! -
A couple of things - first, was out of town Friday, so didn't check in. My weight this a.m. Is 227. Next - hair loss!! Saw my doc yesterday and he said that while we're losing weight, our bodies conserve what it's given and focus on critical functions - of which hair is not. Once the weight loss slows down, the hair loss should too. Last thing - scrambled eggs!! The only times I've lost my Breakfast or felt like I was going to, were after eating scrambled eggs. Doc confirmed there's just something about scrambled that makes them almost form a block going into the sleeve. Weird!! So I'm back to hard boiled, soft boiled, poached, anything EXCEPT scrambled and that includes omelette. Beware of scrambled eggs!! That's it for me! Wishing you all a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving if you Celebrate it!

I use it with my protein shake. Chocolate Premier Protein, a bit of ice and a tablespoon of PB2. Yummy!

Thanks Rogofulm, I was thrilled that they scale moved at all, so I'm definitely keeping the protein levels up!

Increased water+protein= 11pound this week!
NavyMom2006 replied to TamaraS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you! I upped my protein and water this past as well and lost 4 lbs! It's not 11, but it's going in the right direction! More water and back to two protein shakes and food protein every day. Add in the exercise and we may finally be into something! -
Hallelujah!!! The scale moved after a 3 week stall!!!! 229 this morning.
