I'll be 51 two days after my surgery. Happy Birthday to me!! This is the best present I could ever give myself. There is a history of heart disease and diabetes on my father's side of the family, and I don't want to folllow in those genetic footprints.

Whe my doctor recommended bariatric surgery last year, I was just coming off the first year after losing my husband of 28 years to cancer, so I wasn't really interested at all. This year when i went in for my physical, I thought about saying no again, but then figured, "what the heck, at least check it out". So here I am, about to jump off the proverbial cliff (9/23) and I'm really excited!!

A family friend had her surgery last April (2014) and has lost over 50 lbs (she had bypass - I'm having sleeve). She told me about this site and reading a lot of the posts, plus watching her dramatic weight loss has me soooo ready for this!

A little about me - I'm 50, a fairly new widow, mom of 2 awesome young men and grandma to two more awesome little men! I work full time and love to read, crochet, scrapbook, spend time with family and friends, and am going to start loving going to the gym in less than 30 days!
