Yeah. I thought it strange that my carbs are higher than protein but she said it's the kind of carbs that are important. So I stick with veggie carbs etc. I knew a stall would happen eventually. It's just frustrating. I know it'll pass. I have always been a very slow loser but I have incorporated a lot of weight training too so I just need to be patient. Thanks for the input! You guys are the best. ????????????????

Since before Xmas I have been at a "stall" of sorts. Today makes 4.5 weeks. Technically it isn't a stall but I have bounced around between losing and gaining. Lose is usually 5lbs. Gain is usually 3-4. Today I am down 2 lbs since last week but I've seen this before and it's getting terribly frustrating. I know this stall will pass. I just feel like punching something. Lol What is the longest stall anyone has experienced. How did you break it? I am thinking about doing the 5:2. I am doing a variety of exercises and am consistent. My clothes do fit looser so I must be doing something right. It seems like my body doesn't want the scale to move. I am 50lbs from goal. I'd like to be there by next August the latest. Any tips, words of encouragement, stories are appreciated. PS: just reassessed my diet with my nut. So as of right now my macros are set at 140g of good carbs, 88g of Protein, & 54g of good fats. So that's 40%, 25%, & 35% in that order.

How do you know you're full?
tomi71 replied to CountryGirl5584's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get stomach pain and I can feel what seems to be reflux. I am 8 months out and still struggle with eating slower but still losing and learning what I can eat. I ate 3 grapes yesterday and thought I was going to die from pain! Lol If I happen to be eating in a restaurant, to avoid pain, I portion out my food to what I know I can eat. And I will sip some water too to get full faster. This helps me to not reach for a French fry, etc. -
193!

Have you seen the doc? Sometimes a change in diet/life-style can make our bodies act up. I'd see my doc. Hope you feel better. YI are so veery annoying.

Tell them to fcuk off before you become unfriendly. That's one of my fav lines. OR my other, "WHY are you still talking to me." -
Glad to hear you are feeling better! I am even happier to see you are taking a nice trip. It is important to take care of yourself! Have a safe, fun, and relaxing trip!

What do you look forward to when you lose all the weight?
tomi71 replied to Faithluvhope84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Clothes shopping. Inside my formerly huge body was a badass fashionista wannabe dying to get out! LOL -
I felt that way for the first two weeks after. I was miserable. It got better. Give it time. You just had surgery. A significant one at that. Give yourself time. Rome wasn't built over night.

See, almond milk screwed me up. I couldn't go! I switched back to soy because my NUT said it had better protein and when I did, no more issues. I switch back and forth between lactaid and soy. Something about that almond milk.....

I agree with Blerdgirl. Those processed foods are a mess. I have a friend that has nuclear diarrhea if she eats processed stuff and I always suffered from the opposite when I ate it. Whole foods and whole foods with fiber are the best bet. I add clear fiber powder as a just in case because I CANNOT stand the feeling of being plugged up. I have found tomato juice to help too. Just make sure it isn't loaded with sugar and other crap. I add a dash of white pepper and tobasco. YUMMM...it quenches and also gives me a satiated feeling like I ate pizza or Pasta. Definitely get moving more an drink drink drink water!

Does your insurance cover a visiting nurse? How old is your son? If he is old enough, he could help you out as needed. I am sorry about your mom. That disease is devistating. My grandmother had it and its tough to watch. Another option (please forgive me as I don't mean to sound callus) is to maybe have your mom put in a nursing facility until you are recovered enough to get up on your feet? That way you can concentrate on recovery and get well and be strong enough to have her come back her home. As I type this I can't recall if you said you work outside the home but is there anyone at work who could check up on you? You'd be surprised how many people will lend a helping hand when you let them know you need it. Don't be afraid to ask. What about a neighbor? Best of luck to you. Take a deep breath. Your health comes first. You'll be healthier and happier before you know it.

I tell folks that too...to please don't refrain on my behalf. That's because I refuse to be THAT person who judges someone for eating something they enjoy. I grew up with a mother who did exactly that and it greatly contributed to the toxic relationship I had with food. I especially keep my mouth shut because I am the type to say "no one asked you!" and I so I give the same berth to everyone else.

My mother, a very health-conscious 73 years-old, loves reminding my 74 years-old dad that he can keep on eating crap so long as the very hefty life ins policy is paid up. Lol but that's their sense of humor. Maybe tell hubby you would like him to start eating healthier because you really do want to grow old with him?

7 months out- hit a big wall. Not losing at all
tomi71 replied to mi75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Same here. Up and down 2 lbs since 12/2014. 6 months out and hovering at 195. Give it time. The plateau will break. Keep on eating right and exercising and your body will cooperate. -
Everyone's old awesome ????????????????????????????????????????????

1st picture is 2013 about a year before I started to seriously pursue WLS. I was 265. 2nd photo is 2 weeks ago. 195lbs.

Since Xmas 2014 I have been stuck in the 190s. I know the WL will get moving again but it is going to take a while. But it can be terribly frustrating. My therapist said to me he noticed I dropped a significant amount and that I should be celebrating. I told him I look in the mirror and still see a fat little chipmunk to which he replied "nobody else sees that!" That made me feel better and realize I need to stay encouraged yet not obsess as I am want to do wayyyyyyy to often. YOU look awesome! I say don't sweat the scale. Keep fit and eat well and your body will eventually acquiesce and you'll see more results. As I understand it, the first few months one can see the lbs fly off but as your body gets hip to your lifestyle change it tries to hold on to what is familiar. Just keep going and take it one day at a time and Celebrate your achievements! You aren't where you started and soon you'll be where you want to be!

I'd call the doc and ask for a different pain reliever. Ultram works well and since this pain mgmt but you may need something that is an anti-inflammatory and that would be an NSAID. You should be ok though since it is temporary. Does your oral surgeon know you've had WLS?

Constipation...and heartburn.. at 7 weeks?
tomi71 replied to sarina55's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crazy heartburn. I have to take something almost every night, when its at its worse. I have been struggling with some constipation lately so I add some clear fiber crystals to my water and that has been a huge help. -
My pressure was nuts pre-op. I am a very anxious person and that plus a huge amount of stress plus being 120lbs over weight was going to kill me. Once I got help for my anxiety and stress and started the WLS process, I was able to get it under control prior to surgery and stay off HBO meds but I noticed that it would still go up at doctor appointments....something they call "white-coat syndrome." I even went to the podiatrist a month or so after surgery and my BP was high...157/95 if I recall correctly. He took it again at end of appt and it was at 129/85. Once, about 5 months pre-op, it was as high as 199/110!!! Turned out I had pneumonia and my weight, stress and cold meds were causing it to be that high. Since October 2014, though, it's been textbook perfect and the more I exercise, the better. If I catch a cold and need meds I only take Tylenol or CoricidenHB(sp?). I injured my knee pretty bad last month and took Mobic but not long. Taking Celebrex now but neither has increased my pressure. The foods you eat, especially after surgery, should help big time with getting your pressure under control. I stick with whole foods for the most part. This allows better control over macros and micros so as to not over do sugar, salt, and bad fats. The Vitamins I take will help also. Good luck and best wishes!

I think I had shrimp around 8 weeks out. I was able to eat 2 jumbos. Now I can eat 4 big shrimp or 6 med sometimes not even that as shrimp tend to stuff me. I only do steamed, bbq, or broiled. I particularly like them bbq'd over cedar, pecan, or apple woods. I used to love sweet grilling sauce but stay away due to sugar. Like red meat and chicken, I have to eat it slowly. Otherwise my sleeve will get angry and turn against me. Lol!
