    Favorite foods post op?

Three months out and can eat pizza but only a few bites of crust, chewed verrrrry well. I can't eat most bread carbs including sweets which I am grateful about because those were my downfall. And forget about popcorn (just came back from seeing Gone Girl) and candy. Ground beef and I don't agree but chicken, slow-cooked red meats, and fish thats been baked, broiled, poached, or grilled go down nice and easy. Pork does give me problems though, even slow-cooked. I was never much of a pork eater pre-op so no huge loss there.

1 month post op and kind of struggling

At 1 month out I could only get about 500 in on a good day. I am 3 month and now kissing 1,000. Do what your body needs; just be sure you make good food choices and keep up on the vitamins and moving. Be sure you keep your Doc and NUT abreast of your issues. Good luck!
  3. Good for you! You may not think so but you are an inspiration! I am 3 months out and am finding that I can eat a little more & was getting scared about eating too many calories. I've indulged here & there too but so far so good. I track religiously and that is a big help but what really makes a difference for me are the food choices. No one is perfect and perfectionism is a disease (something that has taken me yearsssssss of therapy to understand) so don't be too hard on yourself.
  4. Haters are gonna hate. Your medical history isn't anyone's business so don't put it out there but for those who know & insist on sharing their unsolicited opinion simply yank their chain and tell them successful people work smart, not hard. Then just smile & walk away. That'll really annoy them! LOL
  5. Ugh. Not good. They should've said something.
  6. Yes! And it seems so common. It was an OLD hernia too.
  7. That was similar to me! My gut was twisted up and there were some polyps and what not. Ugh!

    Flu shot

Good luck! That first week or two was tough but once you start getting up and moving better you will be so glad you did it!
  9. Yeah. Mine told me that too. I had a serious hernia also. It seems to be so common with these surgeries....hernias being in existence prior to surgery. I had a choice between the sleeve, bypass and band. The bypass was too scary for me and I had heard so much bad stuff about the band. Plus, the band isn't permanent so sleeve won out. Best thing I ever did.
  10. The Zantac helps indigestion. Sometimes it sneaks up on me. I have it on-hand for eating out as a just in case. I think sweets do me bad because bread and I aren't friends any longer so the refined sugar + bread is not my pouch's friend.

    Flu shot

Get it! I am close to 4 months post-op and I teach and like a dumb-a$$ didn't do a flu shot this year, worrying about the surgery. Guess what? As I type this I am home today & tomorrow because I have what they think is a cold but is starting to look like the flu. I have a horrid headache, mucous-y in every orifice in my head, a baaaaad sore throat, cant eat much, achy, tired, and down right miserable. Such is the life of a teacher. LOLOL
  12. Pizza doesn't bother me, mostly. Its the pizza bread with which I have trouble. Some greasy things bother me also such as a burger (the patty and only if it isn't cooked over a flame broil so all that grease can drip out and I don't eat the bun) and wings. I can eat a small wing, fried and about 3 naked wings, anything more and its Zantac time. So for me bread and fried foods are things of the past. Oh and sweets. Took a bite of my daughter's Tasteykake and back up it came! All fine with me. I really have no appetite anymore so its very easy to eat my good proteins and healthy complex carbs.
  13. I remember fighting with my husband about the house being too hot and wanting the air on. Now I am the one who is freezing! All.Of.The.Time. LOL Ill take that over the extra 56 pounds I was carrying. I guess when I lose the rest (80) more to go Ill be cold all of the time!

    Gained a few

I just weighed myself tonight and am down 4lbs from last night. Feeling better! No more weigh ins though til next month! Lest i have a nervous breakdown! Lol
  15. I am probably reading too much into things BUT I have hit what I thought was a stall a couple of days ago. Then I weighed myself again and found that I have gained 6lbs in a couple of days. I know my cycle can play a role but I also notice that I can eat a bit more. I am 2.5 months out and list a total of 40 post-op. I am scared I have stretched my pouch. I don't stuff myself, nor drink while eating. I eat healthy, whole foods and very little carbs (complex ones only) along with my protein shakes. I also exercise. Anyone else run into this issue? Could the honeymoon be over?

    Gained a few

Very true. I am such an anxious person. I feel like I have a brand new lease on life and an actual grip on my weight but I think I am obsessing as I have a tendency to so....just gotta keep reminding myself, "1 day at a time!"

    Gained a few

Thank you. I know I need to calm myself down and be patient. I always track with Myfitnesspal. Somethings I don't weigh but I use the hand guide to measure and everything that goes in my mouth is nutrient dense. Thanks for words of encouragement!

    Gained a few

LOL! I love the way you put it because it is in perspective. I sure didn't! It probably is water and I am just stressing myself. Just paranoid because I just can't go back to the way I was pre-surgery. My anxiety getting the best of me! Thank you for snapping me out of it!
  19. I am posting this to see what kinds of foods we all find that helps satiate. For me, my new "junk" food are cashews, peanuts, and pistachios. I have read other forums where folks have expressed concern about the fat content of nuts and there for, abstain. I for one find these items a great way to satiate and satisfy a junk food craving (salty, that is.) My NUT encouraged eating these foods too, barring allergies and the like. I find an once serving keeps me very satisfied for a good while....or at least until I can have my next meal and it KILLS head hunger, for me at least. What are some foods you use to satiate? I also like low-fat cheese and chicken breast or tuna but nuts are my fav. Would love to hear! Just trying to build my fit food arsenal in this war on obesity! I shall triumph! Sleeved on 7/14/14. Highest weight= 265 Weight 1 week before surgery: 244 Current: 211 Goal: 125-130 Height: 5'3" Still losing!!

    My new junk food.

At my month NUT meeting, she said I could try a little at a time. I started with natural pb to make sure I could handle nuts and then slowly introduced others.

    My new junk food.

I am a nibbler too. Sometimes I get a little paranoid about nibbling although I am very mindful and don't eat garbage. My restriction is tight ( only 2.5 mos out) so I find I get hungry faster. Those nuts do a great job.

    My new junk food.

I make homemade "ice cream" too! Once I was able to move on to mushies, I made a frozen yogurt eggnog and I ear it as is or mix with my Protein shakes. Yummm! I make it like real ice cream....heated custard, yadda-yadda, but sub with Egg Beaters, Splenda, Soy Milk, Tofu, Coconut Creamer as the custard base. Delicious! Next batch will be pistachio and then pumpkin! All the flavors you've mentioned sound freaking delicious!!

    My new junk food.

I am in the same boat as you but I find nuts are very helpful in getting the protein in. By junk food, I don't mean snacking on junk, I meant it hypothetically. Good luck!
