  1. It sounds like you are doing fine! I had/have those same fears too. Just keep chipping away. You will do fine. I made it onderland last week and I never thought I'd see those numbers ever again...its been 21+ years. It takes time but slow and steady wins the race. Only downside do far is that I am constantly cold. I never realized how much fat insulates a body! LOL Keep eating the right things and you'll be ok. Best wishes!
  2. It was nothing for me to eat a mixture of soft ice-cream, cookie crumbs, cake crumbs with frosting, and sprinkles. It sounded so good back "then" but now as I type it, it sounds hideous. I also used to love taking a fresh Italian hoagie roll, soak in melted butter and inhale it. I swear if these weren't cries for help, I don't know what was! I can laugh at it now. ???????????? Gross, greasy, just plain yuk! LOL
  3. My understanding is this: over time your pouch will stretch. However, it won't go back to pre-surgery size. You are going to hopefully get into the habit of eating nutrient-dense foods and worry less about portions, albeit portion size is important. I am 4 months out and I can do about 1/2 cup-3/4 of solid food. If I eat a meat protein of about 3oz, I don't have room for much else. A 5.3 oz container of greek yogurt is verrrry filling. I have found that I can drink more fluids in one sitting but since I drink either water, water with crystal light, coffee, sugar-free cocoa (now that its cold where I am) or a protein shake, I don't worry about ounces in this case. I don't gulp because that hurts but I can sip it down quicker than I could when I was ate your stage. Be sure to stick to the food plan developed by your NUT and move everyday. You'll be ok. As long as you are putting healthy food in and are stopping when you feel satisfied, you'll be ok.

    1 year ago today

Congrats to all! You are making such an important decision! Best of luck!!
  6. When your plate still has a heap of food on it and you can't take another bite. When your clothing continually falls off your body. When you had to wear a belt to keep up your dress work slacks that are now too big. When you can actually walk by Ann Taylor Loft & know that very soon you'll be able to shop there and comfortably wear those clothes! When you feel more and more of your ribcage when you lie down. Weird feeling.....by the way. Lol
  7. So glad this has helped you! I am sure we can all relate. Keep your chin up!

    ONEDERLAND!

Congrats! I am 4 lbs away from onderland. I hope to be there by Dec!
  9. Its when you've lost enough weight to the point that your weight has a 1 in the hundreds place, for ex., 199. You are in 'onderland.'
  10. I love Myfitnesspal. It has definitely kept me on the straight and narrow. I haven't looked into any events but I do have Dailyburn and Fitbit so I make my own challenges. Every little bit helps! Best wishes!
  11. Congrats to everyone! For those who are pre-op just keep on keeping on! You are going to be post-op before you know it. If ever you needed proof that time really is relative this experience should do the trick. Take it one day at a time....learn something from each stage and enjoy each and every second of this change. This way of thinking also helps me to stay focused. Years ago I would've spiraled into deep depression if I compared myself to Mayweather and the like but now I laugh and even think that that comparison isn't so bad.....he's healthy (I hope) and now so am I! Perspective can be a wonderful thing! I try to make my pouch a secondary tool & my mind the first tool in being healthy because without a healthy mind, not much else matters. Good luck to all! Pat yourself on the back for handling your business!

    Favorite foods post op?

My doctor prescribed bread restrictions such as staying away from gummy, chewy breads and pastas. I don't eat Pasta anymore so thats easy. I do eat low-carb tortillas and baked pita chips. These kinds of breadstuffs agree with me very well. Also, the amount I eat helps boost fat burning. At almost 4 mos out, I have tasted a couple of simple-carbs but I have found I've lost my appetite for such things. No intention on getting it back either.
  13. Same here! Its like they just cant help themselves.I say ignore them!
  14. When those size 18 pants I bought back in Sept are too big and the 16s I wear are getting too big.

    Favorite foods post op?

Three months out and tried a few Cheez-Its (about 1/2 oz) and stomach was NOT happy. So no more of those. I stay away from bread.

    Two kinda stupid questions

Yes! I got my Water and dietary Fiber upped about a week prior and emptied myself out beforehand. I always had these problems with anesthesia & this time I prepared myself. I still had issues but not nearly as long as past.
  17. Omg, yes! I can feel hip and rib bones. It is a weird feeling but I a ready to feel more !
  18. When you can zip up a pair of pants whose size you haven't seen in years & know soon those will be too big too!

    Two kinda stupid questions

My hospital gives out these bariatric pillows to hold against the stomach brace to help with getting up. I also brought my phone and Kindle. Didn't read too much because that stupid morphine drip had me oblivious to most things, lol. I brought warm fuzzy slippers too. I wore home the same clothes I wore to the hospital...over-sized tee and some comfy loose yoga pants, socks, sneaks and clean undies of course. Didn't bother with a bra.

    Scared of rejection!

My nurse told me she has seen people get rejected for gaining. Just be very careful especially around appointment time when they document your weight. Best of luck to you! I am sure it'll work out.
  21. Ahhhh, yes....constipation was the worst. I knew it was coming though as a: I always get constipated after surgery and b:even with all that Water, a lack of Fiber is going to stop things for a while. Just remember your digestive track has experienced serious trauma. You will begin to feel better. I felt that way too....sometimes still do a little and I am 3 mos out. Once you see that weight falling off and feel yourself getting into shape you won't regret the decision to go through the suffering.

    Favorite foods post op?

    You're very welcome. Good luck!
  23. You can probably get away with a cold medicine that has acetaminophen (Brand name= Tylenol.) I was told no NSAIDS or Ibuprofen after surgery. Be sure you eat something with your medicine. If you can't reach your doc, ask pharmacist. Feel better!
