    Injured my knee

You read my mind! I've been wanting to get back into the pool. Knee isn't up for laps BUT I can handle water aerobics! Thanks!
  2. At what point did you start eating salad after your sleeve? I've been wanting to incorporate salad back into my diet but I am so afraid of uncooked veggies. I find veggies that have not been in the very least blanched, don't sit well. I just passed the 5 month mark. Every time I think about eating "lettuce", even baby spinach, my poor pouch starts telling at me to eat only steamed or cooked veggies. Lol I am a trained cook so I can get very creative but I would love a small salad once in a while.

    Feel like a grinch

I am so sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts.
  5. Good luck everyone!!! Congrats! I am so excited for you all!
  6. I worked in food service too. Except it was in upscale boutique eateries....the kind where most everything was made from whole foods, many times organic. When traveling for business it is impossible to just bring my meals with...not practical....don't know what else to say other than to each his own. Best advice is follow your NUTS advice. Thats what the are there for, to help you. No one else's opinion other than that of trained professionals should influence. Its nice to get feedback and hear stories on these boards but they aren't a substitute for the medical services you receive....no matter how extreme some folks are. Do what works for you.
  7. I got sleeved 7/14/14 and everyday I wake up I feel like its Xmas morning....no longer anxious about food and weight! Albeit, the first two weeks kicked my butt but, that passes. I think its brilliant, doing it in Dec during this season of food and drink...if you are like I was, you would not pass up any holiday treat...pre-sleeve. Now I don't even want the stuff. Thanks to the post-op diet you won't have to worry about "limiting" yourself since you won't be able to eat solid foods AND you are going to actually lose weight over the holidays!!! It doesn't get any better!
  8. Congrats to you all! It will be one of the best gifts you've ever given yourself!

    Constipation Club

Ugh. That is theeee worst! It took me almost two weeks before I could go and it hurt like child birth but once I got going...its been verrrrry regular. Sometimes anesthesia and pain meds and the trauma of surgery will do it. If no relief, I'd definitely call doc. Mine asked me all the time how my bms were. Feel better soon!
  10. Yaaaayyyy! So relieved for you! Glad all is well. Sending good vibes your way! All will be well. ☺️
  11. Exactly! This is about being healthy and making good choices! Those are great tips you've posted!
  12. Many Take-out places have alternate menus. I stick with places where I can get nutritional values like Panera, for example. Since I am gone a lot I sometimes have no choice but to order out. Its about being flexible and making choices that work. One meal from a take out place will not derail you if you don't let. That is advice from both my surgeon and my NUT. Everything in moderation and make good choices and be mindful. No need to be extreme.

    Eating pizza after VSG

To each his own. Do what's right for you.
  14. Keep on trucking! Don't get discouraged. You probably won't take as long as I did. Every ins is different.
  15. Or...when your coccyx bone hurts from sitting even in the most cushioned chairs.
  16. It took me more than a year to the day--from very first appointment to surgery date, 07/14/14. Stated in June 2013. But like I said, I DID change surgeons half way. But once that SD was set it all went so quickly! You'll get there! Patience and dedication.
  17. Sweet and spicy is one of my favs. I also dig sushi sans rice.
  18. I had a hiatal (sp?) hernia also & was able to get a VSG. They fixed it the same time I was sleeved.
  19. The first month after WLS I mourned food soooooo badly that I took to going on Pinterest for food "porn", i.e., obsessive viewing of the foods I can no longer eat. Some examples are: jelly doughnuts (omg), fried chicken, King's Hawaiian sweet rolls recipes, pound cake, hoagies, Philly Cheesesteaks, Macaroni and Gravy and Coney-Island style dogs (I am from the Great NE.) ugh It was torture. Now, not so much. If I even eat a bite of a sliver of a piece of candy my pouch curses my existence for the rest of the day. Lol And now that I am detoxed, I don't even want that crap anymore. It doesn't satisfy and I love not being a slave to food anymore.
  20. WTG! Congrats! Isn't this a great feeling? You look great. Keep up the good work of taking care of yourself! Best wishes and thanks for the inspiration!

    Kids are so honest

Kids say the darnedest things...its up to an adult who is responsible for that child to teach them proper boundaries. That does not seem to happen too much now days. If my mom and/or dad, grand parents, uncles/aunties, older cousins had ever heard me say something like that they would have made me apologize to you, explain why such questions are inappropriate, etc., and make it VERY clear I was never to "fix my mouth in such a disrespectful way" again because the next time would include my hide getting tanned. LOL Its up to you, however to decide how you will feel about what was said. I know it hurts but don't let it fester. That is the worse thing you could do....festering is a terribly difficult habit to break...its taken me yearsssssssssssssss of therapy to finally learn how to let things go. You are fighting a war on your self-esteem. You can win it, surgery or not. Btw, if wls surgery is something you and your healthcare providers feel necessary to facilitate better health, then continue to fight.
  22. Canned chicken and tuna are great sources! I add a little bit of olive oil and get creative with salt-free seasonings. Yummy and satisfying. I usually pair with a 1/2 of serving of flatbread or crackers and some fruit or a greek yogurt. I am usually too full to even finish an entire meal.
