Need some support/advice please. Had VSG on January 7, 2019. I’m 63 years and I’ve lost 33 pounds. I know it isn’t going to come off as quickly as those that are younger but it’s a struggle every day, as I’m sure many of you feel. Feels like I plateau for 2-3 weeks and then have a week where I lose 2 - 3 pounds. My question, concern is that I’m finding I don’t take little bites anymore, I’m devouring food and then I DELIBERATELY make myself throw up! This only happens at dinner time but I’m finding I’m doing it every day. Any support you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Deliberately eating to much
caryla replied to caryla's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
Thank you all for your suggestions. I agree most with Mz60. I do eat small meals, use a salad plate and eat with a baby fork and spoon. I just eat way to fast! I will give my surgeon a call and what advice he can offer. -
Just started solid foods on Monday after 1 month. Chicken and fish only. My only problem is that I’m starving 30 minutes after I eat! Anyone else have this issue? Stays down fine, mini bites and chew, chew, chew, but I’m hungry!! Suggestions please!

11 days post op. Struggling with the chewable vitamins! Was ready to go to the ER today the burping was so bad and stomach pain excruciating! Still on a liquid diet, so what does that mean “take after food”? I can’t take them another day! Any suggestions? I want to stop taking them altogether!

January surgeries?!

The burping is bad! Is it from feeling your belly with air or is it whenever you drink something! My surgery was the 7th and I still have it. Went to Dr today and he said it takes time and to “sip slowly”. Trust me, I can’t sip any slower than I already am! -
Anyone have very dark “sticky” poops? I believe it’s because of the iron pills I’m taking. Does it go away? Should I cut down on the iron supplements? Constantly feel constipated, I have a couple of squirts a day. Thanks for any words of wisdom!

5 days post surgery. Constantly hungry even though I’m consuming 60 -80 gr. In protein and drinking 80 oz of water. I don’t feel any restriction either! Anyone else having these issues? Oh, and I can’t stop burping!

62 years old and surgery was done on Monday, January 7. I feel pretty good, sore and exhausted and realize that will take some time. I’ve lost 4 lbs but I don’t feel any restriction at all! Is this normal? Seeing my doctor next Thursday. Anyone else have little to know restriction?

4 days postoperative. Sore and exhausted! 7 incisions in my belly. Took a shower this morning but it did me in. The good news, I’m not hungry and dropped 4 lbs! -

My doctor never told me to go on a pre op diet! -
I had my band removed in September. It pretty much blew a leak! Gained back all but 20 pounds after 10 years.

My journey begins on Monday! Excited but nervous. 63 yrs young next month. I hope this all goes well

Soo, I don’t have that baby food stage #2 list. Can you give me some ideas what you can eat?
-
Wow! I appreciate these honest and inspiring posts! My VSG is scheduled for next Monday and I’m going to be 63 in February. Slightly nervous but I know I’ll have to be patient. One sip at a time is going to be my New Years resolution!

January surgeries?!

Me too! In December of 2007 I had lapband surgery. Lost over 80 lbs. but two yrs ago it stopped working. Gained back almost all of it :( Had it removed in Sept. Dr told me that is common after 10 yrs. looking forward to, but nervous about sleeve surgery. I’m almost 63 yrs old. Need to do something! I know it won’t be easy but I need to do something! -
I had my surgery in December of 07. I've had 3 fills, the last one in mid December of 2008. For some reason, today I can't keep anything down, even water. I pb almost immediately and then I feel fine until I try to eat or drink something again. I'm kind of scared, this has never happened before. Any ideas what might be causing it?

I feel really stupid here........I'm not sure why or why not one needs a fill. I've lost 50 lbs since my surgey on 12/26/07. At this time, I seem to be hungry all the time. I have 60-80 gr of protein a day, drink at least 80 oz of liquids (mostly h2o) and just started waling 1.5 miles 3xs a wk, yet I feel I'm not losing as quickly as I should. Does that mean I need a fill? What does the DR require in order to get a fill? What does it cost? What are the side effects after getting one? Please advice, I have a Dr. appt. on April 1st and want to know what to do. Thaks so much!!!

I came down with a really bad stomach virus and I was wondering if you get violently ill, can your labband move or dislocate?

Was banded 3 wks ago. New Year's Eve had my 1st dairy products and I thought my stomach would explode. Dr. said might be lac. intolerant - try lactaid. Said I could still have cottage cheese, yogurt etc. I was fine until yesterday when once again I thought my stomach would explode. Does it go away or am I stuck w/ this forever? Any pills to take or just stay away from dairy altogether? Thanks for your help!

banded 12/26. The gas pain is intolerable, even with walking - from 2am til 5am this morning did not help. I am fust starting now to release a minor part of the gas. Question, I see everyone recommends GasX and I've been taling the strips and chewables. how much should i take per day? It has 4 pills or 8 strils but it's not working!! Thanks

For the last 12 hours, I feel like I have lump in my chest just below the bottom of my breast bone and my stomach is growling for the first time since I was banded, which was 5 days ago. Last night I really felt like I was having a heart attack!! I am still on liquids (can only consume up to 40 or so oz.) and protein drinks, 24 ozs,70 grams. Is there any chance there is something seriously wrong? I admit, the gas pain has been bad, but I finally started passing it yesterday and found some relief. I have done nothing except stayed on doctor's orders but this pain and pressure in my chest won't stop!

Is it normal to be hungry? (5 days post-op) I admit physically I feel better than I have been. Yesterday was the first day I was able to consume 78g of protien (24oz liquid) and nothing else but about 32oz of H20. Today is the same, except I know I'm taking larger sips at a time (maybe a 1/2 tsp?) and I was able to finish the 8 oz protei:confused:n drink in less than a 1/2 hour. Oh yeah, I even had a lowfat yogurt! I think I'm ready for the "mushies" but don't know what to start with. Any suggestions???:scared:
