ending a toxic relationship
Mrs. Reid replied to jessiquoi's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh,what a wonderful attitude to have. I too am in the process of saying goodbye to my toxic relationship with food. I can totally relate to what you are saying. I don't have a date yet, but like you I am already focusing on the new life I will be leading. I too intend to ROCK my sleeve! Congratulations and best wishes for your surgery and recovery! -

Mrs. Reid replied to babelfish5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had been thinking about buying a pair of pants in my goal size. I thought maybe that was not a good thing to do. Maybe I should do it -
Congrats! I so hope to be joining you soon!

I lived in El Paso TX for a while and there is nothing anyone can do to make me go to Juarez, for surgery or for anything else.

The problem is I am not getting ANY emails...spam folder or inbox. I can't move them to my inbox because there aren't any there.

(Warning! Lady issue!)Women!?! I need help!
Mrs. Reid replied to estrob85's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hormones are stored in fat. When you lose fat those hormones get dumped into your system. I have been warned that I may start having periods again after my surgery. -
Preparing for the criticism
Mrs. Reid replied to WL WARRIOR's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. The only negativity I am looking for is in a pregnancy test. 2. Your opinion does not determine my reality. 3. I don't know what makes you stupid, but it really works 4. Did you have bitch flakes for Breakfast? 5. If you're going to be two-faced, you could at least make one of them pretty.. I could go on... -
Positive People at my side...negative people stand behind!

The only good thing about having a colonoscopy...
Mrs. Reid replied to gowalking's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had one and they found pre-cancerous polyps, and got rid of them all. Now I have to get one every three years. I'm ok with that. -
Went to the post-operative support meeting at my hospital....AND...
Mrs. Reid replied to MisforMimi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wish I could find a meeting that didn't conflict with my work schedule. There are 3 meetings that I know of and they are all during the day...nothing after 5pm that I could actually attend. -
No scales for me! For the first 3 months I will only be weighed at the doctors office after I have my surgery. I am one who will obsess about the number on the scale, therefore I have taken the 'No Scale' pledge!

@@MisforMimi The two sleeved women were in their 40s when they had it done. They are both medical professionals and were and are still very diligent with their diet and exercise. One had it done in 2011 the other in 2012. They are sisters and my cousins. They are so thrilled with their surgeries and have had nothing but good things to say about it. One of the bypass women had hers done in 2000 when she was in her late 30s. She had a lot of leaking complications and still experiences pain. She is not as diligent. She is unable to eat large meals, but she eats very often. She has gained back a lot of weight. The other woman had her bypass in 2006 and follows the diet and exercise guidelines like it's a religion. She had to have surgery in 2012 because her intestines had gotten twisted up and that caused an obstruction. I understand that is not uncommon in bypass patients. Because of this....it's the sleeve for me!
-
I chose the sleeve because I know 4 people who had wls, two had the sleeve and two had the bypass. The two with the sleeve have lost - and kept off - well over 100 pounds each. They could not be happier with their decision. The two with the bypass have lost more weight, but are still having complications even 15 years later. One even had to have surgery 7 years after the bypass because of some twisting in her intestines.

Venting about bad news
Mrs. Reid replied to highdesertblue's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Consider yourself lucky that you did not make a mistake by having the surgery with a doctor that is not 100% on your side! Forget him! Go find someone who is positive and wants you to succeed! -

Help! Can I do this? Planning on taking only 7 days off work...
Mrs. Reid replied to alovelynewme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends on how well you take care of yourself during your time off. -
Proud to announce that I will be a Sleever on November 17th!
Mrs. Reid replied to MS_Science_Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats!!! -
Like the $5 trick. I am lucky that my downstairs neighbors took care of the trick or treaters and I got to sit back and watch a Walking Dead marathon that night.

It wasn't as bad as I had imagined. Next hoop to jump through: NUT appointment on November 21st. Need to show some weight loss. I am determined to succeed!

Thanks for sharing. I like hearing from people who are further down the road. I am determined to be a success story and it helps to hear how others did it.

I can't believe it's happening so fast, but not fast enough...
Mrs. Reid replied to Shace's topic in The Guys’ Room
So lucky things are going fast for you! Wish things could work like that for me. Oh well, I still have to jump through hoops. -
How do you deal with stress/anxiety without eating?
Mrs. Reid posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Went in for my appointment and found that I have gained weight! Not good! A definate setback as I need to lose weight before they will send me in for insurance approval. I am a stress eater and this process has definately stressed me out. Seriously, I have never developed any other response to stress except to eat. If something happens....if ANYTHING happens good or bad...I want to eat...I want sugar...I want potato chips. The craving drives me to the point of thinking I'm going to DIE if I don't have it. I have another appointment with the NUT on November 21st and I need to show some weight loss. How does a person deal with stress without food? Ideas? Suggestions? -
Insurance approval may take too long...Mexico is looking better and better!

There are many people on instagram who are happy with their surgery in mexico. look up some info there. best wishes.

A woman I am working with planned her whole surgery in a matter of weeks with reputable surgeons and facilities. She took out a 5K loan on her 401 for medical hardship and is doing it in January. By any means....
