Can anyone help me out in Knoxville?

Welcome to Knoxville!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can get fills at Fort Sanders Parkwest with a Dr. Boyce. I think he is still located there. I also hear they are doing fills at University of Tennessee because they are doing the band there as well. Dr. Colquitt, also does them in Maryville at Blount Memorial Hospital. I hope this helps.

    Favorite Oldie Song

Everlasting Love by Tony Terry and Secret Lovers by Atlantic Star. I absolutely love these songs!!!!!!!!!!
  7. My surgery was cash pay so I didn't deal with the insurance company. One thing I wanted to mention was I had all of those test performed and more. My doctor explained to me that my chest x-ray was to be done within 3-4 days of my surgery. All other test were to be done within 1-2 weeks before my surgery. He said he didn't want any unexpected complications to come up as peoples medical conditions can change in a matter of days. I know it is frustrating and I certainly understand. I just wanted to give you an insight from a different POV. I hope this helps. Wishing yo all the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I wore an underwire bra home from surgery with no problems. I guess it depends on the placement of your port. My bra does not touch my incisions.

A typical day in the life?

Hello there!!!!!!!!! Basically I start my day off with a small cup of orange juice or milk at approx 5:30 in the morning. I am usually not hungry this early. I am at work by 7:30 and still not hungry. Around 9:30 I am starting to get hungry and I will have yogurt or oatmeal. That keeps me satisfied. I will eat lunch around 12:30 or 1:00 and I can only eat 1/2 of a cup of chicken and veggies. I have dinner no later than 5:30 because I like to be at the gym by 7:00. I know its crazy but my gym is so crowded that I can't get to the machines before 7:00 so I don't even bother. Its quite annoying. This is where I have problems because after I work out I am hungry again. I work out 5-6 days a week from 45 mins to an hour. I am an extremely slow loser but my starting weight was 226 and I am 5'8. The best part about being banded is not being hungry all day. I do not drink the 8 glasses of Water a day because I am not that thirsty. My doctor told me not to worry about it. He says if you are thirsty then drink. I was trying to force myself to drink a lot of water and was literally making myself sick. Its hard to eat out with frinds because no one knows that I have the band. I have to eat slowly and take small bites and everyone stares at me like I am crazy. I hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!

    Shhh...Keep it in the Closet!?

Yes I think that silence is a sign of being non-supportive. In a way I am glad that I didn't tell anyone. Only my mom knows and that is because I needed a ride to and from the surgery center. If it weren't for that then I wouldn't have told her. I am a very private person and I don't share anything personal about me with anyone in my life. Its kind of weird that no one knows about my surgery. Its as if I don't have the band at all. Wishing everyone all the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Help, I'm Starving!!!

I am sorry you are so hungry but trust me I understand how you feel. Everyone's level of hunger varies. I've heard some people say they were hungry on the first day. I didn't get hungry until day 7 and by day 10 I wanted to eat my arm (but I refrained from doing so lol). Once you are able to have soft foods aka mushies it won't be so bad. I'm not sure what your doctor allows you to eat because every doctor is different. Please follow whatever plan your doctor chose for you and you will soon be over this hump. I know it is difficult but you can do it. Wishing you all the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Pretty darn tight..

I am sorry that you are filled too tight. Is there another doctor who works in the same office as the one who performed your surgery or perhaps physicians assistant or a nurse pratictioner who could help you? I can imagine how bad you must feel. If all else fails you could check around in your area and have another doctor take some out. It may cost more than you'd like to pay because some doctors don't like to take on someone elses patients. But in the case of an emergency I'm sure they would be willing to help. You could also try to find a fill center close to you. I think they are called fill center USA which are in different states. They primarily service patients who have had their surgeries in other countries. I hope you can get help soon.

    Pretty darn tight..

Some bands do go to 10 cc's. It depends on what type of band that is placed in you. There are a lot a varying factors which determine how tight the band will be once place around the stomach. Some people have more visceral fat which would also affect how tight the band will be.

    Pretty darn tight..

I am at 4.4 in a 4 cc's band and my doctor told me that he has several patients who have a 4 cc's band and are over the typical 4cc's. I was starting to think there was something wrong with my band. He check everything and I was told that it was in perfect condition and there was nothing wrong with it. He said its not unusual to go over. I know it seems strange because I hear some people say that they couldn't swallow their own spit when filled to the max let alone be able to go past the max. I can eat anything except bread and rice. Its just too much trouble and not even worth trying.
