Have a question for you please. Have been banded 3 and a bit weeks now, this week I have upped my water intake as I have struggled to "enjoy" water as much as before. I'm currently drinking about 1-1.5 litres over a day (no tea or coffee). Most of this water seems to be drank mid to late afternoon as I tend to feel really dehydrated at this time. In no way am I cheating with my puréed portions I'm allowed to have currently as suggested by the nutritionist, but I still seem to be putting on a little weight each day. To date this week it's been as high as 1.5kg which is making me a little disheartened. My only thinking is my body must be retaining some of the water I'm drinking, I'm not peeing very much either (just thought I would tell you that). Can anyone shed some light on the subject please?

3 weeks prior to op I lost 9.6kg. My puréed veg are pumpkin, sweet potato broccoli and cauli, including my meat portion is equal to half a cup. Post op 3 weeks I have lost 6kg. Weight loss prior surgery and to this date is 29kg. I will certainly read the article and most definitely will be upping my Water intake again. Your a wealth of knowledge 2muchfun, thank you.

Shoulder pain relief?
MrsNLB replied to send2steph's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine lasted close to a week. Laying on it was my only relief. Everyone told me I needed to exercise to push the gas out, it helped a little, I can honestly say the shoulder pain was worse then having banding done!! -
I'm currently in the puréed stage to. I have steamed my vegies, puréed them, used a mini muffin pan and froze them. 1/2 cup is equal to 5 of those little portions. My meat portions this week have included lamb, chicken, steak and pork. So I have 4 vegies 1 meat. I don't freeze my meat though I cook as I need it, blitz it in the blender with some gravy. I'm finding this has been the easiest way for me, last mouthful and I'm done, not hungry after that. I'm also on scramble eggs, chicken and corn soup, puréed fruit and low fat custard, all home made.

When did you start the mushy stage?
MrsNLB replied to LinsC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to see a nutritionist before surgery, she gave me a booklet on before and after surgery. First 2 weeks is liquid diet only, including smoothies, homemade soups, drinking yogurt and of course vlcd shake and soups. Week 3 and 4 is puréed foods including scrable eggs, purée vegies and meat, home made soups and vlcd shakes which I start Wednesday. Week 5 is a soft diet then week 6 is normal diet. -

10 days post op...need some advice
MrsNLB replied to kmalone1949's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist advised me of 20/20/20. 20 mouthful, chew 20 times and take 20 minutes to eat. I start purée on Wednesday and so looking forward to it. I can honestly say, I haven't been hungry once on the liquid diet but I'm getting sick of Soup pretty quickly! liquids for the first 2 weeks, purée (1/2 cup serving) for the next 2 weeks, soft diet for 1 week, week 6 is try normal foods again. My Dr told me that he has fitted a very small band. I have puréed my vegies and placed them in the freezer in serving sizes required, will cook my when ready to eat. Will purée my own fruit when needed. It's really interesting in reading how each of us is different.. I am not game to do anything that I shouldn't. I drank a little to much milk coffee (suggested in eating plan) and I had 6 hours of heaving my guts up, let me tell you, that won't be happening again, I thought I was dying!! Bring on week 3! -
I was also banded on 26/08/14. Shoulder pain was the worst part of this whole exercise. Feeling great, ready to start on some purée foods Wednesday, have my vegies all portioned and frozen ready to go. Looking forward to keeping in touch with you August 26's as well. Can't say I have had cravings but I'm struggling with hubby cooking normal foods like toast, garlic pizza and chorizo's!! I'm struggling to drink water though, only because before if I was thirsty I would have a glass no worries, water just ain't doing it for me.
