  1. I live in Bothell. Eastside I am going to have the sleeve the first of 2015 through the VA. Looking for support as I begin to make changes before surgery.
  2. Hi I've decided to have a sleeve. Being a vet i realized I can have my surgery through them. I am in Seattle area and wonder if anyone has gone through the Seattle system for there wls? I'm 60 and weight 320. Looking forward to the change!!
  3. Hi, I've done some Google search for information on VA wls. They do them. Have to ask your primary Dr. Go through the "move" program. In Seattle it seems that they do the surgery at University Washington. Other areas at VA hospital. I think one has to push a bit and show they are willing to make the changes necessary to make the changes. My appointment is end of month. I'll know more then. Primal
  4. I've decided and am excited!!! I'm new here and looking forward to being a part of a group that is moving towards positive change and on such a life altering journey. Now that's exotic!! I'm 60, have tried, lost and regained so many pounds over the years that I just gave up years ago. And have gained more weight than ever. Health issues have piled up and I'm simply done with all the nonsense. It's time to change my life and give myself the chance to live longer and healthier. I'm thinking the sleeve is for me. It's either Mexico or the VA health. If I can go with the VA I will just because it's more cost effective. Anyone have their surgery with the VA? Looking forward to the journey. Primal Kay
  5. For me the moment came with yet one more disabling physical thing. High blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, hating to fly as the seats are tiny, attend a concert, movie, theater for same reason. Unable to tie my shoes, reaching to clean myself. Nope none of these were the moment. But after years of painful feet, stage 4 arthritis in my foot, walking becoming horribly painful and the Dr stating "surgery on that foot needed, but not unless you loose weight" I find doing the things I love outdoors to be nearly impossible. That's it for me. At 60 I don't have time to waste on yet another failed weight loss effort. I'm not a failure! I'm making a smart choice to do something life affirming for myself and really get healthy. I'm excited and a bit nervous. My insurance does not pay for bariatric surgery so it's off to an exotic holiday for me. Surgery and some recovery in Mexico or Costa Rico... Hmm what other fun place can I go?
