November sleevers in Mexico?
KristenVSG2014 replied to Becca R.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I got to the hospital and filled out paperwork, spoke with the internist. Now I'm waiting on EKG and IV. I was so dehydrated they had a terrible time getting blood samples. I'm sure the IV won't be easy. It's so late in the day and I haven't had any fluids so I'm pretty dehydrated. -

Drink a giant cup of hot tea and look at before and after success stories. Works for me! -
November sleevers in Mexico?
KristenVSG2014 replied to Becca R.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Becca R. Thanks, I appreciate it! We finally made it to the hotel but none of the patient advocates were there. I was trying not to panic but I was worried I didn't know anything about the next day. So I texted the shuttle driver who called them and they found out I was accidentally put on the wrong clinic's list. Whoops! Within 15 min an advocate was at my door. She said they will pick me up tomorrow at 12:00 pm then take me to run tests. The surgery will take about 2 hours and then I'll be in recovery for an hour. Unfortunately I cannot have ANY fluids tomorrow and with such a late surgery I believe I'm going to have a tough time keeping my mind preoccupied. Hubby and I ate at the hotel restaurant. I had chicken broth (soooooo yummy), Water and hot tea. I took another broth back to the room with me so I can get in as much Fluid as possible before midnight. They said the hospital has Wifi so hopefully I'll be able to give you an update tomorrow! :-) -

Kristen's Journey From Pre-Op and Beyond
KristenVSG2014 replied to KristenVSG2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh yeah! Measurements! I have to admit...I'm pretty impressed. I lost: 4 inches right below my boobs/where my liver is. 2 inches from my waist. 3 inches from my hips. 1 inch from each arm 1/2 inch from each thigh I most definitely shrank my liver! -

So I finally made it through the pre-op diet and am clear liquids today and tomorrow. I'm not gonna lie. The clear liquids suck. I'm cold and hungry. I took my laxative last night and boy did it work! I'll be going into surgery with a clean colon. I'm so ready to fly out tomorrow!! SW: 260.8 CW: 247 Lost 4 pounds last week! Yay!! Total 13.8 pounds lost on the pre-op diet. Now I just need to lose 87 pounds to be at my goal weight. :-) -

November sleevers in Mexico?
KristenVSG2014 replied to Becca R.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It gets easier. I had to do a 4 week pre-op and my surgery is this Monday. After you say no a few times and just enjoy the activities without food you realize life doesn't revolve around food, it revolves around people and events. -
Carb / Protein / Fat % guidelines
KristenVSG2014 replied to Elaraye's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use 55% Protein, 30% carb, 15% fat. However, I find myself going over fat and way under carbs most days. This is straight from my post-op instructions: The primary source of nutrition needs to be protein. 55% of all calories consumed should be lean, protein- based (eggs, cheese, yogurt, Beans, fish, meat, protein supplement powder, etc.) Carbohydrates (whole grain cereals, whole grain Pasta, brown rice, etc.) should make up only 30%. Fats (olive or canola oils, flaxseed oil) should only be 10-15% of the calories that you eat. hair loss, cracked nails and defective healing and immunity are just some of the side effects of inadequate protein consumption; not to mention difficulty losing weight. Plus protein makes us feel more satisfied for a longer period. -

NOVEMBER SLEEVER here! Anyone interested in creating a whatsapp group?
KristenVSG2014 replied to loregzz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are two Facebook groups for November sleevers. One is closed and one is secret. If you would like to be added to the secret group let me know. -
I live in Florida but I'm having my surgery in Mexico. I've already asked about not using narcotics and they said it wouldn't be a problem. Also, the surgeon prefers we walk to alleviate pain. I'm all for natural remedies!

I asked my NUT this and she specifically said NO fruit and NO peanut butter. :-( I got over it though. -
Me too! Anesthesia and pain killers. I swore I'd never have surgery again but this is important.

Where are the November Sleevers?
KristenVSG2014 replied to ToccoraVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes...I took them in my bra and underwear in my guest room. I took one from the front with arms outstretched, one from the back (the worst!) and one from each side. I also took measurements. I plan on repeating these poses each month until I hit my goal. -
I sent a request.

Experiences with Phentermine?
KristenVSG2014 replied to RellaBelle's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
Phentermine is some crazy medicine. Yes, it took away my appetite and gave me tons of energy. In fact, I lost 73 pounds! But it also changed my personality (for the worse), made my heart race and my blood pressure was very very high...like 180/110. My doctor told me I would have a heart attack if I continued taking it. That scared me enough to stop cold turkey. It took me over a year after getting off of it to get my blood pressure back to normal. Two years later I gained back the majority of the weight I lost. The fact that I can't take appetite suppressants is the main reason I'm having WLS. -

Pre Surgery Diet Change.....Headaches and Fatigue
KristenVSG2014 replied to shelby77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES. This is me. One minute I'm like, "I've got this! I'm strong and determined." Then the next I'm crying and freaking out thinking about how upset my family would be if something bad happened. I can't wait until this is all a distant memory. -

I watched the video performed by my surgeon on YouTube and I felt better after I watched it! It seems so simple as long as there isn't a hernia repair. Pretty straightforward. There wasn't much blood and I saw he put stitches over the stapled area and that made me feel better too. -
Yes. I'm trying not to think too much about it! I'm Nov 3rd as well.
