    Fat Family

What she said. ???? Four years ago at 24 years old and my highest weight I had many family members lovingly showing their concern. I had a doctor tell me the only way I would ever lose weight was by having Bariatric surgery. I KNEW I was fat and needed to lose weight but I wanted to do it MY way. I lost 73 pounds by doing a similar diet to your daughter. Then I gained 60 pounds back over those four years and realized I needed something more permanent. I had to come to the realization on my own.

    Diabetic after surgery?

I am a recovering diabetic. That means my blood work and glucose have been perfect for the last 4 years. My fasting glucose before surgery was 87. After surgery it went up to 177 then 202. They gave me insulin injections for two days. I had no post-op instructions regarding my glucose so I haven't worried about it. I read it is a common reaction of the body to trauma, like surgery, and the doctors gave insulin because higher glucose can hinder healing.

    Pre-Opt Diet Failures

About an hour before bed make yourself the biggest hot tea ever. Like 20 oz. Fruit flavors make it feel like dessert, blueberry is my favorite. Drink it and it will fill your tummy and get rid of hunger pangs and the warmth helps make you sleepy. This trick got me through a 4 week pre-op diet.
  6. I had diarrhea for 7 days straight. I drank a coconut electrolyte water to stay hydrated. While not pleasant, I felt it was a better alternative to constipation because it helped get a LOT of gas out!

    Does Everyone Get a "Drain"

I had one. They removed it on Day 3.

    16 days out

Aw man...I'm only 9 days out. Prime rib and brussel sprouts sounds amazing. ???? I'm gonna be safe and stick with my plan. I had my surgery in Mexico so I have to be extra careful with my post op. It's only 2 more weeks. That time should fly by!

    Scared ????

I can't imagine having Bariatric surgery "forced" upon me. That would make me scared too! I actually had a Bariatric surgeon tell me over four years ago that the only way I would ever lose and keep weight off is to have WLS. I was so irritated I went and lost 70 pounds on my own. Then I gained 60 back over a few years and realized he was right. So I made the decision myself to have it. But this is a huge, life changing decision. Please do a lot of reading and research on these forums. You will find many many people who have had this surgery and what to expect. Your life will not be the same after this surgery and you need to be mentally prepared for that.
  12. Dang it, your post made me cry. It sounded like I could have written it. Our starting weights are the same and your current weight is my goal weight. I hope to be able to make the same post in a year!

    November sleevers in Mexico?

Yes, it seems you go one way or another - constipation or diarrhea. Today was the first day I went with no diarrhea. Yay!! It seems starting the "full liquids" phase has helped. Honestly I'd rather have diarrhea than constipation. At least then I'm cleaned out and it helps getting rid of gas. I just had to drink a lot of electrolyte water.

    Dizziness

It could be lack of calories. I went walking this afternoon at 2:00 with only 200 calories for the day and got a bit dizzy and light-headed. Drank a protein shake and felt better soon.
  16. I can't wait until I can go shopping with my mom and sister and maybe even share clothes with them. My sister always been tiny (size 4-6) and my mom is a size 8-10.
  17. This happens to me! If my husband makes me laugh while we're driving I can't see a thing. It's quite terrifying.

    Juarez or Tijuana?

Tijuana was fine. I didn't feel unsafe while I was there. I saw Hospital Angeles and it is GORGEOUS! My surgery was in a much smaller hospital but I still had a good experience.

    Isopure zero carb

Yes. When I drink it I get little pieces of mouth skin dyed the color of the drink that I have to stop and spit out. The only other time this has happened was when I used Colgate Pro-Health Whitening toothpaste and I went to my dentist and she said it was a side effect of that particular toothpaste for some people. I guess I'm just weird. ???? At least my clear liquids phase ended today and I can finally have a regular protein shake!!

Oh! I forgot. That dang gas bubble that was trapped finally moved and I've been getting rid of it more and more every day.

    November sleevers in Mexico?

Uh...Day 7 Post Op Update: I still have diarrhea. ???? Also, I still have bouts of extreme exhaustion. BUT, I can now do pretty much anything myself. I can dry myself after a shower. I shaved my legs yesterday (carefully)!! I'm allowed to start full fluids which means I can finally have something besides clear broth and protein. I'm really looking forward to a protein shake, maybe some creamy soup and a sugar free pudding.

    Any November Sleevers?

Yes! Salsa makes everything better. I have so many puréed stage recipe ideas I can't wait to try!

    Any November Sleevers?

That's funny, I've never been a fan of cottage cheese either but I've been dreaming of some ways I can use it during puréed stage in a few weeks. And refried beans never sounded so amazing in all my life.
