Yes, my doctor wants me to lose 10% of my starting weight. It's supposed to aid in the surgery by reducing the size of your liver and making more room for them to maneuver. It also helps shrink/soften the stomach. I've been very diligent for almost 2 weeks and I'm down just shy of 11lbs according my home scale. So yay! Lol I'm having it done in Edmond, Oklahoma by Dr Walton at the Weight Wise Bariatric clinic. I have a fairly high pain tolerance so I'm not too worried about that, just afraid I'll be that 3% with crazy complications. Lol! How's the hunger feelings?

I have BC/BS and it first depends on if your particular plan has the bariatric benefit. Mine does and didn't require any special waiting period. However, it's out of network with the Weight Wise clinic so even though they'll file, you do have to pay the surgeon fees upfront. For the sleeve, that's $3700. Then whatever else your regular medical deducible is (mine is $1000) plus your cost for for the hospital fees (mine is 20%). Plus side is, they will still file with BC/BS and whatever they pay of the surgeon fees, you keep. When I went to anthem's website and priced the procedure, it told me my cost would be around $2700. I've secured $5000 in financing for the upfront just to make sure I'm good when payment is due. Then whatever I get back, I'll apply directly to that loan. I've heard great things about both doctors but I chose Dr Walton because he was the one that did the seminar I attended. Something about him I just really liked. Hopefully that helps! My biggest piece of advice is find out if your group plan has the bariatric benefit.

I don't have my date yet. I'm still in the pre-op stages. I've got insurance and my part taken care of. I've had my blood work and EKG. Still waiting on my sleep study but hope to her that in the next couple weeks. Toughest part is the 38lbs that I need to lose. Ugh! I'm down almost 10 based on my home scale. If all goes according to my plan (fingers crossed), I'll have it the first week of November! How was the surgery? I'm scared of it! Lol

Hey guys! My name is Angela and I'm in the beginning stages of my sleeve journey. I'm going through Dr Walton at the Weightwise Bariatric Clinic. I've had my initial consult with him, my blood work and my EKG. Currently waiting on my sleep study. I was 380.5 at my initial weigh in and almost passed out. I knew I was heavier than I've ever been but I had no idea I'd gotten that bad. So here I am, trying to lose 38lbs as quickly as possible. I work in retail so my busiest time of the year is quicky approaching and I can't take time off after mid-November. I'm trying like crazy to hit that goal by mid-October so I can have the surgery the first week of November. If I don't, I'll have to wait until January. The sooner I can do this, the better. Skimming through this thread, I see several folks have used the same clinic. Any advice? Concerns? How strict are they with that pre-op? Like, let's say I lost 30 by my goal date, would they go ahead and schedule me? I've rambled on enough. Lol! Looking forward to getting to know some of you folks and having some online support. :-)

I have some of those I need to start using but I'm not gonna lie, I get a bit hangry when I don't have real food. Lol! Not bad food, just something with actual density to it. I'm feeling better about it today. Weighed this morning and just barely shy of 10 lbs down in less than 2 weeks. Cravings are pretty much gone but only if I keep myself satisfied with the healthy Snacks and meals. If I let myself get too hungry, I have an almost physical battle with myself to avoid the drive in. I think that I really need to work on getting my 30 minutes of walking in every day. I haven't been diligent with that and I think it's helping to slow things down a bit.

Just found this forum last night and have been reading various threads for hours and hours. I've only had the first visit with my surgeon but I'm already stressing everything about the surgery and life after. My weight at their office was 380.5. I almost died. I couldn't believe I let myself get that heavy. I'm having to lose 38lbs before surgery. It's been a little less than two weeks and I'm down almost 8 as of this morning but it's been very hard fought. I'm tracking everything I eat, sticking with mostly lean Protein and veggies with some seasonal fruit like watermelon and cantaloupe. I'm staying under 1,500 calories a day and feel like it's just not coming off fast enough. I think I'm putting extra stress on myself because I really want to have the surgery the first week of November so I need to lose these 38lbs fast. I am a manager for a major cell phone carrier so if I don't make that deadline, I'll have to wait until January. And now that I've made up mind and secured the financing, I want it done now. Anyway... That was a bit of a rant. Hi everybody! Lol
