I am 26 years old. As long as I can remember I have been over weight. I decided to get surgery because I want to live life with no limitations. There's so many things I want to do but feel that I can't because of my weight. I started my process last year September 2014. I have been fighting with my insurance for approval since February 2015. I went through all the appeals and went through the external review where Aetna's decision was overturned. I am so excited. I feel like I am about to get a second chance at life. I don't have a surgery date yet. I'm waiting for the insurance coordinator at the doctor's office to update everything in their system. But now that I at least know I am approved I feel like a weight have been lifted off of my shoulders. Although I wish things would have gone smoother and I keep thinking that I could have had my surgery about 6 months ago, going through this whole process and all the struggles has made me appreciate this even more.
