  1. I've lost a total of 84 pounds since I had my surgery in November 2014. Originally my goal weight was between 120-130, then when I saw my doctor at my 6 month check up he said he wanted me between 110-120 because he said that it would be better for my body type. I am 5 foot 1 inch, so you can imagine I'm a pretty tiny individual. I currently weigh 140. I feel like since I hit the 6 month mark my weight loss has slowed down dramatically. I think it may be because I'm not eating as well as I should be. I'm sure it's as simple as getting back to basics with my eating to kick it in the butt a little. But has anyone else noticed that their weight loss slowed down dramatically? Everyone keeps telling me that the last 20 pounds are usually the hardest to lose. Which is aggravating. I do work out at a minimum of 5 days a week, so I am very active doing cardio and weight training. Just want to hear the stories of others.
  2. Thank you guys! I'm going to try going back to basics and writing everything down that I'm consuming and see where I'm going wrong. I'm sure its because I'm so close to goal, but also I'm 100% sure that its because I'm not eating as well as I should be. Got to reset myself.
  3. I kept my procedure a secret for the most part. My fiancé, my aunt and uncle, and my fiancé's mom and step dad know. Other than that it is a complete secret from everyone else. I wanted to make sure that this was a decision that I was happy with and that was my own. I'm about 4 months out, the hardest part was keeping it a secret in the beginning when I was on liquids, but now people are so used to me eating smaller portions that no one even questions it anymore.

    My Hair :(

I've hit the dreaded 3 month hair falling out. I feel like I'm going bald... I was wondering if anyone had any tips to try to slow this down! I started taking 10,000 mcg of Biotin as per my doctor and even started using biotin shampoo.

    My Hair :(

I was able to swallow any pill that was the size of an m&m or smaller the day after surgery. I still cut some things up cause I get nervous but my biotin is really small so I just swallow it and it doesn't cause me any issues.

    Mederma or scar cream?

I haven't used anything on my scars. I do use the daily nivea firming lotion (in hopes that something will firm this stretchy skin) but my scars are barely noticeable. They look like little lines in my belly. I must heal well though because my c-section scar from my daughter is nearly invisible as well.

    Gym

My doctor was a pain in my butt. He told me that right after surgery he wanted me to get about 30 minutes of walking a day-no big deal. But wouldn't let me do any type of weight training what so over until I was 6 weeks post op. Then he still gave me a hard time and said that I should really wait until I was 3 months out because then I would be fully healed. I had hernia surgery as well as my sleeve so that could be why. But I actually joined the gym at around 6 weeks to just walk, then I did weight training but i didn't do ANY core exclusive exercises because I was told that was the ultimate no-no.
  8. I am about 3 months out, but my nutritionist doesn't focus on counting calories. Their biggest concern is getting my Protein in. But I do use myfitnesspal app to track everything so I know that I only eat about 600-800 calories a day. I usually have a pure Protein Bar for Breakfast (160cal), premier Protein shake at some point throughout the day (200cal), grilled chicken or turkey roll ups (about 200cals), then occasionally I'll have a fourth meal which would be another 200 or so calories.

    How is your skin?!

I am about 2 and a half months out, I can already tell that I'm going to have loose skin in my stomach. I have lost about 38 lbs and can actually pinch my loose skin on my stomach already. I didn't think it would bother me as much as it does. But oh well, at least these pesky pounds are coming off, I'll focus on the weight and after I have my second child if it's still an issue I'll speak with a plastic surgeon. Also- stretch marks have become even more of a problem. I used to only have them on my stomach and my boobs, now they're on my arms, NO IDEA where those things came from of if it is common to get them after you lose weight. Does anyone have a good moisturizer they feel like? Not so much for tightening just maybe that helps a little with the elasticity of the skin?

    november sleevers.

I had my surgery on November 10th, I'm down 33 pounds for my post-op weight. I'm doing good! How is everyone else? I'm having a little bit of a hard time accepting the fact that I lost weight because aside from my pants size, I don't really notice any changes. Is anyone else having this?
  11. I have been trying to get in touch with my nutritionist for the past few days and can't for the life of me do it. So I figured I would throw it out there to try to get some advice from the forum! I've seen so many people have success with drinking Premier Protein, I usually just buy whatever the person at GNC/Vitamin Shoppe recommends, but figured if it was working for so many people I would buy some. I have yet to try it because I am confused. I usually throw my Protein powder into my skinny latte from starbucks. Now with a Protein shake do you count it toward your Fluid, or do you count it as a Meal Replacement? When I put it into my skinny latte my nutritionist told me that I could count it as part of my fluid, but the rest of my intake for the day had to be Water. So I would assume that I could also just take the premade shake as part of my fluid, but I wanted to see what other successful people are doing.
  12. I think that my nutritionist would be more for this. But for some reason she hasn't answered me. I'm sure it's just due to the holiday because when I asked her about the protein in the coffee she said as you are doing make sure you are drinking at least 48oz of water. Which I make sure I hit that every day, and if I don't have coffee I drink the whole 64oz of water. Its interesting to see what everyone is doing.
  13. Thank you! So would you have your protein shake and a meal still? or just one or the other?
  14. I honestly feel like I'm being stupid, but I'm not sure exactly what I need to hear or want to hear. So figured I would throw it out there for other individuals to hopefully help. I had my sleeve surgery on November 10th, I've done great for the most part in regards to healing. I don't even feel like I've had surgery except for the fact that I can't eat normal food yet. I lost 17 pounds the first week- I was so excited! Then the second week I didn't lose anything and the third week again no weight loss. And now I keep feeling like I made a huge mistake with going through this surgery. I sound ridiculous, I know, and I know I'm just in the begining stages of this journey! I just need some reassurance... or something to get me through these feelings. Why is it that I keep feeling like I can only relate success to weight loss? I've been sticking to my diet and I lost 17 pounds! Which is awesome! Sunday I'll be moving on to solid foods and I'm just afraid that my "stall" will turn into me gaining.

    Regret?

Thank you guys for commenting. I feel so much better for just talking about how I feel. I only bought the scale a week or so after surgery to track my weight loss. After all these stressful moments in just going to return it! My clothes definitely feel looser. I just need to stay positive. I have another appointment next week which is my 1 month post op appoibtment. I have to remember I guess that it took me more than 3 weeks to put this weight on it'll take more than that to lose it.
  16. To be honest I was originally going to get the lapband because I know a few people who had had it with great success. After I attended the seminar I started leaning toward the vsg. I then met with my surgeon, who told me he doesn't recommend the lapband because of the failure rates. Then we discussed bypass vs vsg. Simply put I made my decision because the idea of rerouting things in my body made me a little freaked out. I was much more comfortable with shrinking my stomach. I'm about two weeks out from sleeve surgery and so glad that I made this decision.
  17. What did you guys do about lifting them? I had my surgery a little over a week ago, my doctor didn't mention any restrictions but the nurses all said don't lift more than 5 pounds. My daughter is a year old, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to not be able to lift her. My fiancé has to do everything for her!

    Sleevers with small children

I'm going to have to call my doctor and see what he says. I've been good for the past two weeks, I haven't lifted her once, but it's so hard! I miss picking her up and holding her.
  19. I was sleeved November 10th as well. I'm on a full clear liquid diet, I know that every surgeon is different with what they want their patients to do. I have not felt hungry yet. But I have felt like I want to eat everything in sight. I think that's called head hunger? not too sure. Either way I think everyone is different.

    Any Nj Sleevers

I just had my surgery on Monday, November 10th in Hackensack with Dr. Trivedi.
  21. Monday morning, bright and early I got my VSG surgery. Everything went awesome according to the doctors. I recover well from surgery so I was up and about within hours of getting my surgery. Unfortunately the day I was supposed to leave I got a 102.4 fever. After a bunch of tests, they have no answers to why I have a fever. I'm currently schedule to stay until tomorrow morning, where they are going to do the last test, which is a ct scan. Then the doctor is going to reevaluate my situation. Has anyone had this happen to them post-surgery? I feel AMAZING, aside from my little battle wounds, you would have no idea that I had surgery. I don't feel like I've lost any weight, but mainly because I feel extremely swollen. All of these IV liquids and drinking 4 ounces every hour is driving me to feel like a puff ball.

    The deed is done.

Thank you! I needed this little bout of reality. I wasn't on any medications at the time I wrote this. But I do sincerely appreciate the pinch of reality. I guess I was just overwhelmed with the want to go home.

    The deed is done.

I was fever free for 24 hours, like the doctor wanted. Yet now they're claiming they want me fever free for 24 hours without an antibiotic.... Why am I even getting an antibiotic when they don't know what is wrong with me? I'm beyond furious. No one seems to want to get me answers. I've asked them to page the doctor numerous times.

    Approved!

This was the easiest thing besides the fact that almost killed my nerves! But my surgery is officially November 10th!!
