tummy troubles
shrinkingbytheminute replied to jessb418's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was 8/25. I just can't seem to take much of anything in. For instance, it is 6:30pm and I have had nothing to drink all day. I just don't want anything, let alone nasty protein drinks. Yuck. What is wrong with me? I need help. I am at the end of my rope, thinking I made a huge mistake. Things need to change. STAT. -
Protein Powder Struggles - I found relief
shrinkingbytheminute replied to Danny'sGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery (RYGB) on Mon, Aug 25. I was having the same problems with the protein powders! YUCK! I too saw a post about this protein powder that you mentioned. It came in this week and it really is the way it is described-- odorless, tasteless, no clumping, and can be mixed with hot or cold beverages or sprinkled on food. It is so much better than everything else I have tried. -
Protein drinks, powder make me nauseous...
shrinkingbytheminute replied to ladykatie_'s topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am in the same situation. My surgery was Aug 25, in Indianapolis. I just spent 5 days in the hospital. Radiologists read my CT Scans as having bowel blockage but my surgeon said they are wrong. I finally made it home last night but I can't stay off the toilet. CONSTANT yellow Water diarrhea. MISERY. I had nothing in the hospital except ice. For 5 days. I came home weighing 3 pounds more than when I went in. Now I am just so weak and nauseated. I haven't been able to stand the Protein since surgery. It to me is cringeworthy. Feeling so defeated and discouraged. I have spent the morning crying. -
How long until you went back to work?
shrinkingbytheminute replied to Sreeves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Interesting topic... I am a nurse and I had the surgery 10 days ago. My surgeon is expecting me to go back to work 3 weeks from the date of surgery. I FEEL like I could do that, except for the diet. I am on full liquids still and will barely be on pureed by then. I would prefer to be solid in my diet, at least somewhat, before going back because with my job you just never know when or if you will eat or how. So, it is going to take a lot to logistically figure out. But bottom line, my surgeon says 3 weeks, and I have a very physical job. -
Protein shakes
shrinkingbytheminute replied to weightloss4liss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you TexasLady52!!! I just wrote a post on another feed begging for advice. I am sickened by the protein supplements. I have tried so many and can't stand them. An odorless, tasteless, minute amount is exactly what I need. I wish I could take a pill and be done with it. Anyway, I ordered this GenePro just now after reading your advice. I hope this works better for me. Again, thank you! -
2 weeks post op!
shrinkingbytheminute replied to ortega07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 10 days post-op and I have lost 15#... My problem is the Protein. YUCK. Somebody please help me with this. I settled on Isopure powdered protein supplement that you add to milk or smoothies or whatever. I have tried several different kinds but I am not kidding: I find it sickening it is so yucky. Why can't I just take protein in a pill? And yes, way too many commercials. I feel hungry 100% of the time and would give anything for a cheeseburger but have remained totally compliant, it just is not easy. Suggestions? Thanks for any help you can offer, especially on the protein. Ick Ick Ick!
