Due to an illness, I was on heavy doses of Prednisone for over 2 years and put on 110 lbs during that time. (80 Mg a day for 1.5 yrs and 6 month to wean off) I was unable to loose that weight and added on another 20 trying to diet over the next 10 years. After I was off it I became chronically ill with respiratory issues like you. Had pneumonia pretty bad 2xs and was hospitalized both times, 16 days 1st time and 11 days 2nd time. I also developed seasonal asthma and had to go on inhalers along with a host of other issues. I agree, it is a great drug with horrible side effects. Saved my life while ruining it... I can climb stairs without stopping, etc. I am 7 days into my pre op and will be sleeved 9/16. My husband is not happy about the surgery. Tonight we talked and I just told him that I want to live and he needs to help n support me. We have 4 kids, 3 still home , 2 of which are in HS. I'm doing this for me and so I can be there for them????

i was told no sugared gum, not sure about the other. I caught myself chewing a piece ( automatically just popped in into my mouth without thinking) when I realized it after a couple of seconds I spit it out and just laughed and thought about all the food I have eaten without thinking over the years. Once you have surgery def no gum.

My oldest daughter did Study Abroad in Melbourne n Sydney and loved the country and people. She said it was magnificent and everyone was so nice and kind. She wants to go back????

My psych evaluations where a joke (all 3) 5 minutes of talking and a co-Pay.. I would not worry about that. I think it is just a safety precaution to make sure we do not have any major issues. I don't have to pay anything up front except co-pays for each visit . I have Aetna You should call your insurance and find out exactly what and how much is covered, and discuss with you doctors office their expectations of when you need to pay.

you are prob better off going all liquids, you will be more prepared afterwards ???????? Isn't it so exciting!!! Can't wait to throw out my fat clothes in my closet and not wear "old lady" shoes any more????????

Same here, I was 53 in August n getting sleeved 9/16, , I want good health n long life. Wish I did this sooner, but it's never too late !

I am also 9/16! Congrats???? My doc has me on 2-3 protein shakes a day and a high protein low carb dinner , consist of 4-6 oz of very lean protein, 1 cup of veggies, 1/2 cup of carbs like rice or potato- cannot have oil , butter, etc. 2nite I couldn't even finish my dinner, which is a good thing I guess. I've had a mild headache for days and also like you feel sluggish, and tired. I'm so excited that it helps combat and tiredness. 2 nite my husband bought Pizza n Eggplant parm for the family, while I was taking a nap. Needless to say, I'm also a bit cranky now too! LOL
