No it won't be the last time you have it. You will be able to slice apples and grill them with cinnamon and add some stevia on top. It tastes awesome. I have been practicing WLS Desserts.

Heavy Periods (Menorrhagia): PCOS and Extreme Weightloss
Beni replied to dsdesigna's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I had a similar experience about 10 years ago. I had such heavy bleeding I thought I was going to die. I would describe it exactly as you did. The ER was worthless ended up in the Gynecologist's office the following morning. I had to have uterine ablation ASAP. But of course I was not planning on having any more children. Scary stuff. It was not related to WLS though -
Wow amylynns you are so brave. I don't think I could have handled that as well as you did. I made some apple crisp today and even though I promised myself I wouldn't eat it, I did. Revenge, I have had the worst heartburn all evening. Come Tuesday and two weeks out from surgery my tune will have to change a bit. Even though I only have to do 3 days of clear diet, I am cutting all sugar, caffeine and reducing carbs dramatically.

Hi Amy, how's that diet treating you?

Overwhelmed at the thought of the new way of life I will have to adapt
Beni replied to MauiGirl5555's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite activity is looking at before and after pictures to check what a 50, 60........100, etc weight loss looks like. It's addicting. I dream about how it will look like on me. It has been 22 years since I was below 160lbs. I have no idea how I will look like. -
EVERYONE has to check layknee's medicine bag. I am dying right now, time to run to the bathroom again. Between that and your Jolly Ranchers bag you are set
-
Hi Melora, are you having surgery this Wednesday?
-
Me five, Love: The updates that people are feeling better, all the photos of everyone and the Jolly Ranchers bag is priceless. Funny layknee are you planning to give up chewing in favor of the food mill. It sure sounds a lot easier then chewing every bite 35 times. I am just kidding! I think, you are supposed to bring your meds to hospital specially if another doctor prescribed them. Make sure they are in the original bottles. No random pills in a box or baggie. The hospital provides meds your surgeon prescribes while you are in patient. Sometimes you go home with prescriptions to fill at a pharmacy.

Surgery date set- Instantly terrified!
Beni replied to NicoleSW's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
No, I am super excited all the way. All will go well and I will have nothing but happy moments . Good thing you can't see my nose grow online. The only thing I know beyond a shadow of a doubt is I am so ready for my new life, the status quo is impossible to tolerate for another second. -
Yes, you will go through with it tomorrow. And, you will report back with all the details ASAP. Rocking that skirt and yellow shirt on that picture. We have the same body type by the way. I'm 262 5' 5". Not that different at all.

@@Bronxmerci, I see. your situation is a lot better then I thought. You are going to be FINE. No sweat. It it's kind of funny that you and layknee are going on the same day. Kind of like peas in a pod. I understand about not wanting to tell your previous partners. This is about you not them. If I could, I wouldn't have told my husband and we have a decent relationship. My husband is going overseas on a business trip for 2 weeks (have known for a couple months.) I almost scheduled the surgery while he was away and not tell him, but the hospital/doctor won't release me to a taxi. This surgery is for our health and future and we have enough courage to go and fight for it, with all the tools available to us, right? When you get to be our size there is no more nice gal. This is time for big changes. WE CAN DO THIS!

On the gas: I wonder if I can will myself to have hiccups. Probably not but I can dream, right!

Okay, I am a big believer in acting on problems as they are. So, a plan is all you need. 1. The breaking the diet - not the best. Please remember, they are going to operate on you and your insides have to be clean. Think about getting out of the house or do anything that will distract you away from food. This is the time to pull out the nuclear weapons. In other words anything that will help is fair game. No holding back baby. 2. Coming back home after surgery. Do you not want your baby's daddy not to know about this ever (A) or your okay once it happens (? Ask yourself. A - you will have to think this through. It is likely that you will be very tiered and in significant discomfort. There's no way he can't tell something is up if he spends a good amount of time there. B - You may want to sit with him (After surgery) and basically level. Tell him something like-Please don't be mad, this is not the best moment. but I did get, blah, blah, blah. The reason I didn't tell anyone is because I was afraid I would be talked out of it or that I would be judges (what ever the motivation is for you) this way you can start with a clean slate and ask for his help and support through a most difficult time. If he knows why you did what you did he will be much more understanding. Hope it makes sense. On the not being able to pick up the baby there are ways to cope. I was very sick with one of my pregnancies (miscarried) when my son was 1 year old. I was basically horizontal and nauseated 24/7. Baby lived in diapers/blankies -house was warm - no laundry. Paper plates and disposable spoons. We crawled a lot around together. There's no need to pick him up he will come to you/ sleep with you and you can cuddle just the same, right. Trust me you can cope.

C-section is a very good trial run for WLS. I knew you were a planner. Way to go on going for two, got to love an overachiever. You are ready! I had a c-section as well, not fun, but we do get better. All in a days work.

@dc520 I'm sorry you had to suffer a dumping incident so early on. From my doctor consults (doctor interviews really) I was lucky to get a RN with 15 years experience in WLS that spent an hour with me and gave me the scoop on dumping. There are somethings you can do. This is what I learned: 1. For the majority of patients dumping evolves to a state of exhaustion were you have to lie down for a few minutes maybe 1/2 hour after a meal. It's not as bad as early in the first few weeks and months were you feel like you are dying. 2. If you lay down after eating you will slow down the process. We have an opening from stomach straight into intestine. In our old stomach that opening was controlled by a valve. We will no longer have that. Gravity is not our friend as stomach content will move into intestine too fast. Consider drinking Protein shake reclined, with people fanning you with great big palm fronds all along, of course. At least do not start running around after drinking a shake. The key is to do anything you can to keep it in the stomach as long as possible. 3. Once we move to mushy foods they don't slide into intestine as quickly and we should do better. 4. Many patients have issues with milk products early on after surgery. The stomach enzymes are not present that break down milk products. It is usually a temporary situation. But some people have no issue at all. But be mindful of this, if your shake doesn't agree with you, consider alternatives. Of course I am not a doctor, please rely on your NUT as doctor first and foremost. I am just sharing what I learned. What milk shake did you take when you had the dumping? Even though it is not likely it's fault I would love to know just for reference. A better day, and yes the dreadful meal time planning. Must work on it myself, yesterday I did terrible. I get distracted!

I purchased GENEPRO earlier today. The 30g Protein and no flavor was a selling point for me. I find Protein shakes revolting so far. Yes, I will drink them and pretend they taste good but I will gladly give them up. I am thinking the trick is to add the powder to things that are more familiar. I don't usually drink chocolate shakes but adding Protein Powder to broth and V8 sounds appealing. It will be a salty break.

@@kimodell69 Love your shopping items. The colorful spoons, divided dish for Protein, veggies and carbs. Adorbs! @AuriP Yes , I have to remind myself I am not superhuman. My husband travels a lot and I am used to depending on no one. It is VERY hard for me to ask for help. I am worried about this because I do not have a high pain threshold. However, I do have an incredibly high misery threshold. Hello, I have waited 10+ years to get this surgery. Miserable the entire time!

Oh, on the sippy cup issue. I'm thinking it may be helpful to have one in the hospital because all they have is the super thin plastic cups and when you are laying down it's hard to drink from those but I would love to hear from those who just had surgery. Is there anything you wish you had in the hospital? On the surgery buyers remorse, It's totally normal to feel that way. Having a kid, getting married, anything hard, I think it's human nature to feel that way. Even buying or renting a new house. It's okay, you are doing GREAT my brave friends
