@amylynns. You are so kind to say, I have a spreadsheet list of everyone. I do have a list but it's a lot less glamorous then that. Lets' put it this way, it's so 2007 (right @tacycakes) aka pen and paper. I live in fear of forgetting someone or having it wrong. To complicate matters people forget to update their profile with their surgery date and the only way is to find the original post with the actual comment. Good luck with that! We are 90 pages long now and 894 replies. We sure are chatty but I LOVE IT!

Today Oct 15, surgeries are: @@Melora, maybe @@OnePhatWhoDat and @jasminebsn. (Those dates are not updated in the "upcoming surgeries" thread and I have not heard from them in a while but at one point they stated they were having surgery today.) Good luck Gladiators your new you awaits

The last resort would be to have a reversal of the surgery. I know it can be done. She still has the stomach and the section of the intestines that was bypassed they can put it back together the way it was. My surgeon said Bypass is reversible.

I have read about Wernickes encephalopathy. I have done a lot of research on weight loss surgery. Try the New England Journal of Medicine and National Institute of Health websites and search for studies using the key words. Also consider contacting the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS). If any one would know how to guide you it would be them. Also, contact major University Hospitals. They are doing research all the time and Bariatric surgery has been around for over 20 years in the US. Good Luck, there must be something out there. Next time I see my doctor I will ask as well and let you know.

Me too. It gets to a point that enough is enough, right? Our group has been going strong for a while. Everyone has contributed so much. We ask questions and support each other in a lovely way. We need each other especially because I feel like no one else knows what we are going through.

See that's my problem I don't know if I have the right symptoms for gallbladder. My tummy hurts sometimes and I can't figure out why. That's why I asked what your symptoms were because what I researched doesn't match mine all the way

@@GFord889 Welcome to our little group. You'll love it. Looks like you are going to beat me to surgery by one day.

Wow, I am feeling overwhelmed with joy right now. I don't even know where to start. I read all the posts but can't possibly answer every one. But, but, I want to. So proud of all the girls who made it though surgery like only gladiators could. It is so fun to read your updates and how you are healing, feeling better, step by step facing your new life. All the rest of us are awaiting our turn and doing our diets like only gladiators can. I want a pink Victoria Secret thing too. Actually, I want a bra as well. Imagine how it's going to feel trying one on and the size will fit. I hope I don't cry!

J'Adore the pre-surgery pictures @@smiley922 and @Jyoyonomore. Styling head gear. Smiley went with a sheer sky blue elegant design and Jyo with the rich gold satin design. Fabulous choices, lol

@mstvb How are you? Have you had a lot of pain? How is the recovery going?
-
Hello layknee, how are you? How did it go? Are you resting comfortably? I probably should stop with the barrage of questions
-
@Lost1 Did you by any chance have symptoms with your gallbladder stone? You are lucky that you can get surgery this quickly. I was told in Canada there's a 2 year wait list.

Your response to: "but you aren't 'THAT' big!"

Thank you everyone for putting into words what I couldn't have said better. -
Morgens, Vitamin B12 deficiency causes neurological abnormalities. This is why we have to take an additional 500 mcg from the multi vitamin which already contains some. I am actually planning to take a little extra (750 for good measure) My understanding is patients with B12 deficiency have sensory abnormalities and hallucinations. Everything you mentioned in fact sounds like text book B12 deficiency. Those conditions are reversible with just taking B12. Has your girlfriend been tested for B12 deficiency? It's a simple blood test. I am not a doctor but I am well informed. Please seek medical advice, and a second opinion if necessary.

Beni replied to vmcelroy70611's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The test I took was super easy but takes forever - almost 2 hours The most important thing is to make sure your bubbles are on the correct spot. I accidentally skipped a question and ended up having the redo 1/3 of the test. Good thing I noticed because I had answered a bunch of questions wrong, like seriously wrong. Example: Do you ever feel like killing yourself? Was a yes, etc. I DO NOT. Oh my, my test results would have been a mess. But after 500+ questions my concentration was failing me. -
This is confusing. I started a new Topic in the Post-surgery Bypass Forum but on the side of the pre-surgery forum on Recent Topics, it shows the new topic OCTOBER 2014. I don't get it

@@Bettiboop is also tomorrow Oct 14th We have not crossed paths but some of us October Losers know her Good luck to you tomorrow!

NEWS FLASH! I started a topic on the post-surgery Bypass Forum. It is called OCTOBER 2014. I thought we will all end up on the other side and we can all check back years down the road when we are in our rocking chairs as long as we check October 2014, the beginning of our new lives. I know it will divide the group but as more of us go the the other side I am thinking they would benefit from the expertise of the more seasoned Bypass folk on the Bypass post surgery forum. To love them you got to let them go but please don't forget about us, we'll get there, we are just a little behind you. For now we can go back and forth between pre and post Forums or check both but we'll be together very soon. Love you Gladiators

@@micmt your story is my story. It's due or die time for me too. It gets to the point where you feel like you are caught in a whirlpool that you can't get out of. You try floating, swimming really hard, with/against the current. Try a few new strategies here and there. Sometimes you feel like maybe you are moving towards the edge of the whirlpool and you might actually make it out if you keep swimming your heart out. But at the end of the day, you know you are caught and you "never going get out." It's a prison. I know this is my only chance PS. A part of me still doubts it will work. I am going to be very surprised if it does and that's the honest truth

My Fav of mom's fat shaming statements was. "You have to be careful with your weight because as you put on weight you become ugly." News flash I am "fat and ugly." Why do mothers do this? Really! I have a daughter and she is about 10 lbs overweight. She's a size 6 in a world were size zero is what you aspire to be. I used to try to motivate her to eat healthier and exercise (after the freshman 15lbs) but I saw the sadness in her face and stopped. Now all i do is complement her when she does something healthy like go on a hike or make a good food choice at a restaurant. I didn't tell my daughter about my surgery because I don't want her to be worried while she is away at college but I will discuss it with her if she asks.
